Looks like it'll probably be a F2P game, either on console/PC or mobile.
Somehow i doubt both of those, for mobile they already have No Limits, and if they wanted to make a F2P game for PC, wouldn't it be easier for EA to just translate Edge internationally after it is out of the beta stages? And i'd imagine that the F2P market for consoles isn't really the biggest, but i could be wrong on that.

Bring back this style of NFS please........

I don't care if they stay with the current theme, just for the love of god, find the people responsible for the PS2 version's handling model. One of the most rewarding arcade racers I've ever played.

Long live Pulse Ultra and the Buzzhorn from the soundtrack, who were both on the same label and both folded after their debut album.

And to EA make memorable soundtracks, like in the classic through Black Box era.

What about need for speed underground 2? I liked the handling on there, how you could just easily drift an escalade with no fear of flipping. and the customization in underground 2 O_O endless.

Arena will probably be a mobile game or a sequel to NFS:World. That is, if they ever actually use the name.

Oh god that 8 song soundtrack will forever play in my head...

The only songs that I liked from HP2 is Hot Action Cop's Fever for the Flava and Going Down on It. And when I searched it in Youtube, I was surprised that there were two versions of it. One is the original (and it was weird) and other is the NFS version.

Here's the original versions of two of the Hot Action Cop songs in the game:

I just want a remake of HP 2010,
If anything it's probably going to be a game where I play it, I platinum it, I sell it.

Guess it was 2010.
I thought it was 2012.

HP2010 was spot on. It captured of what Road and Track NFS is combining it with NFSHP2/1.

I don't mind a HP/Rivals NFS game but then again this would make Underground/2015 fans angry since the last NFS game just got back from customization.

My favorite NFSes of all time were Underground and 2, basically for the storyline and the music. They had GREAT soundtracks, and the cars were pretty nice looking as well.

Outside of that, I liked NFS Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit, most likely because I beat both in less than 30 days. :D

But seriously, they had even better cars, and the objects like multiple spike strips, EMP jammers, etc., is like something out of a James Bond film.

I'd love to see another Hot Pursuit, if only they got rid of some of the less realistic powerups such as EMP and Turbo and replaced the spike stripe with a roadblock with spike strips.

The poll is pretty bias... I mean, not bias but it doesnt leave space for other options like getting back to the old days. Between the many eras NFS has had (1-6 luxury cars in road tracks, 7-12 street racing tunning cars mostly and 13-18 motor sport racing and luxury cars in road tracks again) i think many people yearn for that first period (like me).

edit: And i add, the next NFS should be IMO something like Driveclub which is the closest videogame to the old NFS. Luxury cars in road tracks with almost no tunning.

NFS has gone through many identities throughout the years it's difficult to please every fan. It all depends on your point of entry into the franchise. Personally I wouldn't mind them having 3 studios and rotating every year with Hot Pursuit/Underground/Shift themes like Forza/Horizon series.

I also bought NFS The Run recently just for kicks and I loved the concept. I agree with someone who said we need another game like this but much better execution. The cutscenes and dividing the Run into stages really takes out the immersion. Imagine driving the actual route from East Coast to West Coast. Preferably there are a few variations (e.g. shorter route but twistier vs sticking to freeways but longer and possibly more traffic). Full distance in real time with day/night and weather. You have rest stops along the way to refuel/repair/tune your car/walk away from the game but you have to use them strategically otherwise your opponents will get a jump. Also cops (but no weapons) and decent physics with cockpit view and wheel support. The whole career mode you will be guessing whether you made it fast enough to catch the leader  And then when you finish, there is a mano-e-mano challenge from the final boss going the other way (West-East).

Back to reality however, I'm expecting Ghost to just make a better, bigger NFS 2015. If that's true, then I only ask for 3 things: better physics, better AI/cops and remove always online.

That would be very nice. I like more that version of NFS where you drive supercars in road tracks because there is a HUGE potential in that (NFS HS PSX and Driveclub). But is undeniable that NFS is also tuned cars in street racing. Even with games like Juiced (better physics) or midnight club, NFS has been always the reference of this kind of racing games.

And i agree with your last paragraf. It would be very weird to turn 180º from Rivals to NFS 2015 and then turn again 180º from NFS 2015 to NFS 2017. Also, besides the flop of NFS 2015, that tunning version of NFS is the most popular.

I played the demo and it seemed a better game that what many people was saying. Atleast it was a very interesting
proposition.

That kind of game looks very promising and spectacular... but i dont think it could be mainstream. And NFS is since a long time ago, a game that must sell a lot.

Indeed. The idea is so each studio can specialise in one type of NFS and create the best game it possibly can, instead of flip-flopping between different styles and throwing away assets every year. With PS4 generation you need at least 2-3 years of development to make anything decent, so churning out tri-yearly releases will give each studio plenty of time to perfect each game, while still giving fans yearly NFS releases.

It is quite good to be honest. The physics is a bit unreliable (but surprisingly grounded in reality). The cops, AI and traffic are atrociously programmed to ruin your race. But there are a few moments where you go "wow". It's basically Outrun mixed with Cannonball Run on steroids.

I think why NFS Underground sold so much was because it was innovative. No other game had tuning and customization options like that before its time. So if NFS wants to reclaim its heyday it needs to do something drastically different again. Racing games will always be about driving, that part can't change. But what you can innovate in is the packaging around it.

Why do I feel like this "game" will be microtransaction hell? (I'm presuming that it will be like NFS No Limits)

Can't understand how people still beg for Underground, Most Wanted or Carbon. The game of two years ago what was it then?
Trash.

Either way, the Underground succesor that everyone wants simply can't and won't exist anytime soon if ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if NFS17/18 has microtransactions. If they do then maybe make it like what GT6 does. Not forcing you to use MTs.

Ricers. Ricers. They wanted a UG, MW, or Carbon successor so they got one back in 2015.

Also its due to what the Underground era games gave us. And because of that they want to customize cars without tomorrow.
