update 1.05 - Ensure you follow the AUP when posting

It's not different than how some games do a double XP weekend so that people can boost over that time. Whenever this boost comes to an end they'll probably add more Seasonal Events, which will continue to give people access to high XP/CR rewards.

True, but repairing your car should not cost 500,000 credits and some cars should not cost 20 million.
 
Why do they seem to be focussing with online stuff only?.

Im kinda getting pissed at them now.

So i have to be logged in to use the new dealership??. Are the cars in there just for use in online races?, or will i be able to use them in GT Life mode?

Oh and btw what happened to update 1.04?. The last update i installed was 1.03.

Great update, so nice to see this little community requested things plus the great new online rewards and such. They're really making an effort to listen it seems.
 
As far as i can see, the differences are:
Bigger prizes in races (ex. like the wind = 84k)
Online Collector Dealership
Seasonal Events
Adjustable HUD
New Prize Cars in AMG Challenge
24hr and 4hr Nürburgring in Practice + Arcade mode.

Why only increase rewards until JAN? With the game economy and lack of events making the game a grind it makes sense to keep them at least higher then they were, or srop prices of some cars and repairs which are grossly too high.

Maybe this is a temporary solution and are planning something permanent to be released in an update in late January.
 
Well the FGT just lost all its value. Just went in the new dealership and theres a white one already lol, no more grinding for money and no more grinding for it to appear.... I dont think its good. PD say its a place to obtain rare cars.... well doesnt that make them common now? Id like to see if this garage is the same for everyone or generates randomly.

Maybe because they're going to evaluate it and in the next patch they'll adjust accordingly? Too much or too little.

Just a guess.

I'm in the final 1/4 of the game (both specs) so an XP boost is nice but not needed honestly. I'll get there eventually. Especially now that online offers XP.

That means I'm only doing those darn 24 hour races once! I didn't want to do them 6 freakin times.
 
Just wanted to compete the new events in a challenger, did an oil change and its hp is higher than the requirements -.- what to do ? drive until the oil is crap and the hp is sinking again ?

Or just back-up in case of something bad to happen, as the fair ones does. :) This was a relief to me as I'm going to change to new HDD or SSD soon.

Anyway. Spoiler regarding "Seasonal Challenges": The seasonal challenges are challenges that lasts for a given period. After that there will be new ones. There are three groups of challenges: Bonus, Time and Drift. Bonus is quite much like the special events - you may only win the trophies once, but if you get gold you get the silver and bronze prize too. Time and Drift are online based - the best time or score wins.

I don't get the online dealership thing. How is it affected by other users? If it's not (as it seems) then why/how is it "online"? Maybe every player has the same cars available at all times and the list updates randomly. There are 12 slots for cars instead of 30(?) and more rare cars. In mine I have a purple veyron, a green FGT, FIVE random skylines, CLK Touring Car, Abt TT Touring Car, Countach Anniv. Ed. and two pickup trucks.

Seems like a great update all in all.

I think the idea is that PD can choose 12 cars to post online instead of you having to wait for them to turn up in the used car dealership. Just a way for people to stop complaining that the FGT takes too long to find within the game...well, now you can always find it in the online dealer instead.

Yes I got the same cars in Online dealer.
 
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou best patch ever. No HUD awsome I guess they do listen to us. And for the stuff they left out I'm sure we will see in future patches.

So now some of the rare cars, aren't that rare anymore.
And tryin to find 1, which added some much needed charm to the game, is now right there in the OCD....Bullshiieet.

Since they had increased the Cr rewards and a lot of Cr for winning Bonus events, do they removed the 20mil Cr limit? Anyone can confirm?

WHAT!!?? There are some cars that cost 30 million credits! so they put a 20 million credit cap so you can never get these cars?

Go run the American series a couple of times and it should be down on HP again. You'll lose obviously but it'll get you what you want.

Wow people are easily pleased. Just 5 new A spec races and a couple of time trials and everyone's acting like its the Second Coming!

Still no online matchmaking. There should be specific online events to enter. Half the time you go in a room without a clue of what people are running. It should be set up like prologue.

Update Notice (1.05)

A new update has been released for Gran Turismo 5.
The main contents of the update are as follows:

Seasonal Events
[Seasonal Events] have been added to the upper left side of the [GT Mode] - [GT Life] screen. From here you can participate in official online events from the Polyphony Digital team. In these events, all participants under the same regulations, and if you complete the event you will win rewards and experience. In Time Trials and Drift Trials, compete on the leader boards with players around the world.

Online Dealership
An [Online Dealership] has been added to the left center of the screen. In here you will find popular and rare used cars. You might just come across that one car you've always been looking for, that you haven't been able to find in the used car dealership.

Online Race Rewards and Experience
When you complete a race in the open lobby or my lounge, you will now gain rewards and experience points. Therefore if you are focused more on playing online, you'll still be able to gain rewards and levels that you need to progress in GT Life.

Driving Distance and Number of wins in Online Races
The driving distance and number of wins you achieve when you complete a race in Open lobby or My lounge will now affect your stats in Profile and the Garage. Here again the results from your online play will cumulate within GT Life

Improved Rewards
The rewards for winning races in Both A-Spec and B-Spec in GT mode- GT Life have been increased for a limited time only. This applies until the end of January 2011. This is a great chance for those who were previously have difficulties getting ahead in the game, due to lack of funds for tuning and purchasing required cars.

Race Information Display
Is now available in the Start-Quick Options. You can also see this in Race Display in Options.

Save Data Backup
You can now copy and restore your save data. For details please refer to the in-game Manual

Personal BGM (menu)
From [options]-[hardware]-[Audio], it is now possible to set the Personal BGM (menu). This can also be accessed from the Music Library within GT Mode.

Car Name Change
The official name of the "Red Bull X1" has been changed to "Red Bull X2010"

Integration within the website
THe main features within GT Mode - Community can now be accessed through the "Gran-Turismo.com Official Website.

Important Note
We have made improvements to the Log within GT Mode - Community section,
in order to make its operation more stable. Please note that the information that was here before the update has been reset.

Some contents of the update will not be applied unless you sign into the Playstation Network when you play the game.

Yup, I believe it's this very reason. All the cars appearing are excactly those everyone was desperately looking for: pickups, FGT, DTM
