Maz

wow guys. This is even more than we all hoped in one update and what is stated in first post.

This is wow!

Time trials have been lifted off, and they seem to keep them low numbered for a real competition. And the extra a-spec events that you can run. Those will change once PD wants them to change, and then we get some new a-specs, and new time trials, and on and on...

Omg this is how it was intended to be...

Online Dealership links to this, providing 'useful' cars for online, A-spec and B-spec racing.

WOW lots of exp and cash to win these. I imagine they aren't on the easier side but taking an hour to win these is still a lot more exp and cash per hour then grinding on the races I have unlocked so far.

I'm really looking forward to getting off work and playing this today. Lady has to work till late so I'm home all day by myself with an off-day for the gym :sly:

I would imagine the prize fund for these seasonal events is just that, a prize fund that will be dished out to the winners once the event ends......

So... What is the point of it? We have two used car dealerships now? I really don't understand this move. And what is 'online' about it?

Yeah, we now have 3 dealerships, why not add these cars to the already existing dealership? Whats the diff.
Amazing update though, if Gt5 launched with this it would have gotten much better reviews.

Can someone please confirm that the game-save backup works on a new ps3 with your original id ? I just got a 320gb Ps3 and want to transfer my progress from my 80GB one.

Your game can be saved to a usb drive as a backup incase your ps3 hd gets corrupted.

It means I can finally buy a solid state drive and transfer my game files over :-)

so you mean if my ps3 crash and my save file is in my usb can i get my save file to other ps3's?

Just updated and noticed that now when starting a race in Arcade mode (Eiger Nordwand) the spectators have gone!.
The reason I tried that track is that I remember the shadows looking particularly bad/flickery on the spectators and so I wanted to see if this update had improved matters - but the spectators have gone completely!

Not that this bothers me but I wonder what else has gone from the rest of the game presumably in an effort to improve frame rate/screen tear issues.

UPDATE:
After a quick race it appears there is now a lot less frame tearing on Eiger Nordwand now that the spectators have gone.

Those bonus race exp / prize fund figures are huge? Are they restricted by A-Spec level, or particularly difficult to merit such high points?

Can they be repeated?

If so, surely 'The Grind' just got a lot easier?

It says they can't be repeated. Works like the special events. That's the maximum you get from them. But they should change regularly so it's all good.

I got to page 7 so don't hate me if it's posted after that, but the reason the patch might be large could be because it contains the three xmas giveaway cars (assuming they aren't exactly the same as ones currently in game)

I hope the online dealership will end up becoming a place where we can buy/sell unwanted cars. No auctions just buy and sell.

Fingers crossed.

The prize money on B-spec has increased massively my usual 20k grinding race has just payed out 108k ,I'm hoping the championship winning bonus increases too :)

Ugh! Don't say stuff like that! Some people are in the middle of a long (and low paying) enduro right now.

I'm gonna cry.

Guys there is a update log after the patch. They have it in the home screen under Gran Turismo News. This should be copied on the first page. Here's the comments from PD for the update 1.05:

Update Notice (1.05)

A new update has been released for Gran Turismo 5.
The main contents of the update are as follows:

Seasonal Events
[Seasonal Events] have been added to the upper left side of the [GT Mode] - [GT Life] screen. From here you can participate in official online events from the Polyphony Digital team. In these events, all participants under the same regulations, and if you complete the event you will win rewards and experience. In Time Trials and Drift Trials, compete on the leader boards with players around the world.

Online Dealership
An [Online Dealership] has been added to the left center of the screen. In here you will find popular and rare used cars. You might just come across that one car you've always been looking for, that you haven't been able to find in the used car dealership.

Online Race Rewards and Experience
When you complete a race in the open lobby or my lounge, you will now gain rewards and experience points. Therefore if you are focused more on playing online, you'll still be able to gain rewards and levels that you need to progress in GT Life.

Driving Distance and Number of wins in Online Races
The driving distance and number of wins you achieve when you complete a race in Open lobby or My lounge will now affect your stats in Profile and the Garage. Here again the results from your online play will cumulate within GT Life

Improved Rewards
The rewards for winning races in Both A-Spec and B-Spec in GT mode- GT Life have been increased for a limited time only. This applies until the end of January 2011. This is a great chance for those who were previously have difficulties getting ahead in the game, due to lack of funds for tuning and purchasing required cars.

Race Information Display
Is now available in the Start-Quick Options. You can also see this in Race Display in Options.

Save Data Backup
You can now copy and restore your save data. For details please refer to the in-game Manual

Personal BGM (menu)
From [options]-[hardware]-[Audio], it is now possible to set the Personal BGM (menu). This can also be accessed from the Music Library within GT Mode.

Car Name Change
The official name of the "Red Bull X1" has been changed to "Red Bull X2010"

Integration within the website
THe main features within GT Mode - Community can now be accessed through the "Gran-Turismo.com Official Website.

Important Note
We have made improvements to the Log within GT Mode - Community section,
in order to make its operation more stable. Please note that the information that was here before the update has been reset.

Some contents of the update will not be applied unless you sign into the Playstation Network when you play the game.

Omg this is how it was intended to be...

Exactly.

I believe copying save is really for your backup only. So if your save got corrupted, you could copy a previous save from your USB to the same PSN.

If you could copy the save file to another PSN, wouldn't people send all the cars back to your main account? Or send them to your friends since it is only a "copy". It will be a disaster.

Wow people are easily pleased. Just 5 new A spec races and a couple of time trials and everyone's acting like its the Second Coming!

Still no online matchmaking. There should be specific online events to enter. Half the time you go in a room without a clue of what people are running. It should be set up like prologue.

I would say the reason for the online dealership is so that PD can control what cars are released in the dealership at what time. I could also see it as a way to access DLC cars later on.
