Update imminent?

Yeah... Some of you need to learn to REEEAAAAD. If you even had an ounce of logic in your tiny little hater brains, you would have seen that I said the following:

From Kaz Y. as reported by GTP: If PSN comes back in Japan, GT5 update will follow

From Sony as reported by Engadget (although not directly, but Sony's website indicates the same): PSN is coming back in Japan tomorrow, at least partially

Ipso facto there will be a GT5 update soon, as in imminently.

Without the ironic hater-brain message I quite agree!

I just hope for the update to come with surprises that will make me play the game like I did when I got it on release.

With everything that has happened since it's release, I'm just thankful for any update. I just hope it comes soon. Like everyone else, I'm waiting for in-race saves to finish off my enduros.

The update should just be released. What is the difference if Japan has psn or not? As soon as there psn does go back online they will see a gt5 update to get. I don't see what the problem is. The only thing I hope there doing is that this update is spectacular and they want everyone to be blown away at the same time.

It could be. For about the same reason GT5 has also been the first GT to have a more or less single worldwide release date.

Yep, especially since the real Le Mans 24 hours is happening very soon and watching live footage of that will certainly get a lot of people in the right mood to finally tackle them, would be the best moment to implement this long awaited feature just before the real one takes place.

Hoping (just hoping, won't hold my breath) for some new content as well (old GT4 tracks perhaps and a few Premium versions of Standard cars) as this seems to be the time (with some new releases by other companies, such as Dirt3 for example) to finally extend the amount to regain some momentum as most of the updates we've until now received were patching existing issues.

Now that it's restored, i'd still give it a week or 2 just for them to get their stuff straightened around cuz i really dont want them to rush and do a cruddy job

Honda-Crz
PSN is back in Japan and other asian countries.

Should we begin a countdown to the next update?
T-Minus 1 month and 3 days. lol JK.

I have some speculation about this though.

You see, it IS possible to download updates without PSN.
You just need to have an Internet connection.
This has been proven with the S2U updates.
One was released while PSN was down and it was still possible to download it.
So, them not releasing it while PSN was down makes me think that it will have something to do with online play.
Perhaps it's just another money glitch fix. I'd imagine that that'll be included with the update.
So besides in race saves, I'd imagine that there will also be something different with online play.

Possibly GT Drivers club?

I'm hoping for something surprising that will make me treat this game like it is new; making we want to play it for ages non-stop. Would like to see some Premium upgrades/Tracks/New cars...

But what would the Driver's club be? Guilds for GT5? I'm hoping they let us schedule races. So we can set up a calendar in GT5 with dates for specific races. People could browse different calendars and sign up for races. That would be great.

my thought is this. Perhaps they are planning to relase this huge Spec II update with all those 24 or so new tracks, in race saves, and new cars...etc. but are just waiting for the PSN to be stable in all countries to be able to handle such a large amount of downloading from so many people. I would think and update like that would be many GBs.

I'm fully expecting GT Driver's Club, in-game saves, and an update of standards to premium. These were all mentioned and promised. I hope we're not let-down. The updates of standards have to be right now. It's been too long to delay that any longer. The next update will be in 2 months, if not sooner, after this upcoming update.

Another thing I'm hopeful of, is cockpit view to standard cars. Being that it's "technically possible" (Kaz's words), I don't see me waiting any longer if the standards aren't updated to premium.

Oh yea. I forgot about the track logos. It's gotta be. it has-ta.

If they don't come in this next update or aren't mentioned at E3, then it's safe to say that they were never meant to be. :nervous:

They're gonna fix the remaining couple of holes at Nurburgring....thats about it.... I'm hoping to be proved wrong here...but if PD's past track record of adding content to this game is any indication of their future intentions I'm thinking thats about all we're gonna get....

On the contrary, this one should be significant because its been 3 months since the last major update. It was December when GT Driver's Club was mentioned and when Kaz said there will be an update of standards to premium. It's been well over 2 months since the mention of in-race game saves. If anything, this is likely to be the biggest, also, considering Kaz is waiting for Japan to get back online. For some reason, I was thinking he was waiting for Japan's Playstation Store to be up.

But, I know what you mean.

Dont think I'm not hopeful here...I'm a die hard GT fan from back in the day. Right now I'm 40/40 with millions in the bank and a garage stocked full of premium cars...I race online at least three days a week and run Bspec all the time.

I can honestly say that this is the shortest amount of time it has ever taken me to get bored with a GT title. There just wasnt enough content in 5 to keep it alive much longer than a couple of months.

The sasonal races are cool but why didnt PD just make the ingame races a little more varied and the payouts better? Add some Aspec PUHLEASE!

The rest of the sim racing world is zipping around on tracks with an incar view for every single car in the game....uh hello?

I never ever had to grind to buy a car in Forza three...The races paid out enough to cover the cost of the next ride...And please PD...why the 20mil cap?

Aside from many graphical and game play issues with this installment there are some glaring omissions and just plain unexplainable content here.

I'm hoping that at least some of these things will be addressed in future updates but from what we've seen before the great PSN outage was a frantic effort to keep a few people from making too much GT money and being able to duplicate expensive cars..For which we've all suffered.

I would like to gift expensive cars to my friends but I cant....I have zero interest in non premium cars in this game so most of what I have is beyond the trade cap limits. But I cant sell them for credits,,I cant give them away and if I win a car that I already have I have to either clutter up my garage with multiple duplications or just simply delete them from my game.

So I'm hoping that updates and fixes are in the works and will be implemented...I'm just not gonna hold my breath............

Really, all I want is things they said were coming, like GT Driver's Club and endurance saves. I also want things that are still missing from the game after 6 months, like matchmaking. Championship saves are a must as well. Still can't enjoy the FGT championship because of it. I will most likely stop criticizing GT5 afterwards, depending on how good these things are implemented.

But new cars/tracks are just a bonus for me.

So I'm hoping that updates and fixes are in the works and will be implemented...I'm just not gonna hold my breath............

Quoted and deleted most of it to save space.

I feel you man. You're in more pain than most of us are and you're the true epitome of someone who got screwed over because of the rushed release.

Hopefully that helps. As skeptical as it seems, no one can anticipate all those that did come true through an update.

The AE86 needs to be premium with an optional wide-body kit.

Wrong thread - this is about whether the update will be out soon, you need to be in the wishlists with that :D

On topic: It's going to be late May/early June before PSN is back up in full in the UK, it seems that Japan are lagging behind that... and I have no idea about the rest of the world (in general ;) ).

We certainly won't see an update until PSN is fully restored.

Their track record is an indication? You obviously didn't play GT5P or remember Seasonals, OCD, and remote racing all being added to the game post release. I would say PD have a very good track record of releasing content, especially free content, after release. Just my opinion though.
