As for the with FFB strength on the G25, i personaly do not see as a problem, although GT5 does not let you take the strength of the G25 up to its maximum.
I wouldn't want a thicker grip than the G25 unless the wheel was a little larger, the G25 wheel thickness is fine.
How do you know that? It looks similar to a G25, there's nothing else to make us assume its the same internally. If its true that its using helical gears then I think you'll find alot of the problems you had with the G25 compared to the belt driven Fanatec wheels will vanish.
...and pretty expensive. The problem with the Fanatec stuff is it's so hard to choose what you want, far too complicated. And the fact that they are never in stock, anywhere !!!

To be fair even if the gears do offer a smoother wheel experience and it was just as good in that area then but what about:
Stronger FFB motors
Shock/Vibrate motor
Adjust on the fly with LED independent of game
X360/PS3/PC compability available
Those are also good things about the Fanatec range and in particular the Turbo S
Clearly to me thier is only one champion wheel for the console owner and the Turbo S will be it.
Pc gamers have varying needs so no Turbo S wont appeal to everyone or all budgets but its the one that appears to be the best featured.
Again, we dont know what the G27 will have. It may have stronger FFB motors, if it has helical gears it could potentially have far higher FFB without putting excess stress on the gears, so it COULD have higher FFB. Though IMO it doesn't really need higher FFB, simply GT5 needs better support to adjust FFB. On PC sims I never crank the FFB all the way up on the G25 anyway. The shock/vibrate motor doesn't really appeal to me either, the G25 and probably G27 will have dual motors anyway. As far as I'm aware, no games use the vibration motors in any wheels properly anyway.
It also may have adjust on the fly settings... when the G25 came out it was focused at PC sims where everything can be adjusted via drivers with more flexibility, and most PC games themselves have many many more options to adjust the FFB. Over the years logitech could have noticed that people use it on PS3 also, and may put more flexibility in it. I'm not 100% sure on the timeline... but wasn't the G25 out before the PS3 anyway? You can hardly expect Logitech to add on the fly adjustments when it was only designed for the PC and the PS3 wasn't even around.
You have to remember when the G25 came out it was breaking ground in the quality available at a regular consumer level (opposed to the high end enthusiast crowd who spend thousands on wheels). You can't make judgements about the G27 based on the G25.
As far as xbox 360 support is concerned... well, I doubt it will have 360 support because M$ are dicks. However I'm still hopeful that it might have 360 support. If it does I'll probably buy it.
Point being, how can you be "disappointed" with a wheel when you have NO idea what its like and nor does anyone else.
Personally I'm excited by the G27. I'm hoping it'll bring a new high level wheel with a silky smooth FFB which I can actually buy in shops (opposed to the Fanatecs which I can't get anywhere, and is very expensive). Hopefully they manage to get 360 support too, but that might just be dreaming.
G27 = Fail
This is Logitech's response to Fanatec?
It's basically a G25 with more buttons.
As far as price, the G27 = $300
GT3RS/Clubsport package = $299, and it seems that it will be compatible with GT5 as well. Or, you could go for the 911 Turbo package for $249 with standard pedals and no XBOX compatibility. Or, for $199 you could get the Turbo S Pure package and use it with your G25 pedals.
No contest here, Fanatec vs. Logitech--Fanatec = WIN
Also, G25 prices need to start plummeting now. With the news that the G27 will be out this fall, the price needs to drop to around $150 for the G25. At that price, I would recommend buying it. I'm still seeing the G25 being advertised for $299 and even higher at some places![]()
They've made a lot of fine improvements to an already successful design. Helical gears being one of them. Since they have decided to revise the drivetrain, surely they would have gone the route of Fanatec and belt drive if they thought it was better, but no, they have gone helical gears instead.
I prefer it to Fanatec myself.
G27 FTW
With helical gears I think the G27 will equalise a lot of the things that Fanatec had over it. When it comes down to it, I'd rather a wheel with a cheap helical gear system than a wheel with a cheap belt drive system from a reliability perspective, and helical gears done right should be just as smooth as a belt drive.
After watching the SRT review, I dont see anything Fanatec has over the G27 EXCEPT for the obvious flaw of lack of xbox 360 support (which is a big one!). I'm guessing the G27 will have the advantage of actually being readily available in retail stores for a reasonable price.
Clubsport Pedals maybe? "The best bang for your buck" pedals in sim racing.
The GT3RS package costs almost exactly the same as the G27/G25 and the Clubsport pedals are included as part of that package.
Fanatec who?
Lol @ Jessica Lopez for saying "We have the predecessor to the G25 wheel, the G27" instead of successor.![]()
The GT3-RS package isn't compatible with the 360.
Oh it will work the TURBO S, I have the RS wheel and clubsports and shifters, way way way better over my G25, by 10 miles, G27 seems only 1 mile improvement. But I have to order the Turbo S for Xbox so I can play FM3, as well GT5 without swiching dates on PS3 (RS has problems playing with up to date PS3 lol )
That's so dumb. So what you gonna do with the RS?
