In steps the ghetto Japanese car guy, representing Toyota.

Stay away from the AE86. 4A's are suppose to be reliable, but I've so many blow up now it's not even funny. If you want a small, fun RWD car, get a Miata.. or a low mileage (100k or so) MR2.

An interesting car that is OFTEN overlooked is this..

1990-1992 Geo Prism GSi. AE92 Toyota chassis with 4 wheel disc brakes, a 4A-GE, sway bars. Basically, a a four door version of the same year Corolla GT-S coupe. And you could probably find one for under 1500 dollars, in good shape.

Another neat choice would be the older Legacy GT models.

But stay away from all the "popular drift" cars, such as the turbo RX-7s, the 240SX, AE86 :p

Oh, two other things that popped into my head - mid 80's Nissan 200SX (CA18 powered) or a B13 Nissan Sentra SE-R (SR20DE powered, LSD, so on)

Thing is, that 130hp is from what, half the capacity? That V6 isn't what I'd call efficient...
Oh, Bob, please don't start the old "horsepower per litre" argument again. Drive a '180-hp' big displacement V8 back to back with a '130-hp' small displacement I4, and tell me which feels better.

I actually do that a few times daily at work. I like the 130hp small displacement I4 better.

Interesting, I don't remember those cars at all... Would be a very fun drive, I'm sure. I was going to suggest that it was the same as the Celica, but my bad, the Corolla didn't start sharing a chassis until the 6th generation.

I'm not after a quarrel, but it also depends on power to weight. V6s and V8s are great engines but when they're plonked in something 1500kg+ they're going to be a bit lethargic compared to a small I4 in a light body 👍

Of course, what we all really want is a high revving V8 in a light bodyshell...

...but I digress ;)

(And my name isn't Bob)
