USGP 2006 is finally here!

Good qualifying session for Ferrari but as Martin Brundle said M Schumacher and Massa each effectively wasted a new set of tyres in quali 3. Looking forward to the race now!

I missed the first two sessions of qualifying, as I fell back asleep after laying down again. But I saw pretty close to all of Qualifying 3. Schumacher was absolutely flying on the lap that put him on pole. When he set the time, he had the top time in every sector. Good one on Barrichello getting P4. Looking forward to the race. Still hoping Scott Speed can do well in the race.

I missed quallifying, all I saw was the press conference, interesting results with Alonso 5th, he'll probably still end up winning by a comfortable margin though, sadly.

As long as the Ferraris don't have any reliability problems they'll walk it. On sheer pace they're likely to be between three quarters of a second and one second quicker than anyone else in the race. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ferraris were also heavier in qualifying than the Renaults.

Missed the first 45mins because of 🤬 football/soccer. And I can't watch the race tomorrow, we're out for the whole day. It's a shame, since it looks like a very promising race. I'm quite impressed by Barichello and JV final positions.

Oh, and the damn rotating/flipping camera on the main straight made me dizzy...

Sucks Alonso and Renault couldn't, still, find a decent tire setup, but at least it's better than last year.

There's still hope Ferrari has some sort of mechanical failure this weekend (yeah, right).

Oh well, I don't expect Renault or Alonso to win every race left in the season, no matter how much they seem to earn it.

I would. That would mean that Ferrari magically has about 2 seconds of pace on the rest of the field, which seems like wishful thinking. I think they ran lighter today, so that they could snatch the front row, and use Massa to block the Renaults, allowing Michael to cruise to victory (once again at Indy...yawn).

My thinking is that Renault, knowing that Ferrari is probably too fast to catch, qualified heavy, to perhaps gain position in the pits. They probably wanted to just out-qualify the rest of the field, which didn't quite work out. It is surprising to see Fisi two spots ahead of Alonso, although Alonso should be able to get around Reubens at the start.

I hope Fisichella doesn't screw up this race. Maybe Massa can slip back and we'll have two Renaults on the podium.

I'm also hoping for Speed to do well. There are too many Schumacher fans at Indianapolis.

On TV they showed he and Masa on a electric scooter dealie riding around in front of the crowd. They were going nuts. The crowd were going nuts, not Schumacher and Masa.

It does look like Schumacher is the one most wanted to win. Then again, this is the USGP, and fans in America often cheer for only the winner.

Mike Shoemaker does seem to have quite a following in the US. Would only be right him winning to keep people from rioting (hopefully).

LMAO @ Inside Grand Prix. They have a featurette thing on Scott Speed. He's jumping everywhere and driving these red bull hummer-carts in circles (loaded with RB's, too) and losing his mind on this boatride. I think they gave him one too many red bulls.

Hopefully the BMWs well have a good start and get a solid points finish , so far this season they always seem to have a good start with a heavy fuel load , I wonder how much fuel they are carrying today , shame Nick had some problems it seems to be electrical and hopefully he will not get a 10 place penalty

I'd rather see Monterio grab a point, his reliabilty should be rewarded. 26 finishes in 28 races is bloody impressive!

Also I'd like to see Webber have a strong run too, haven't seen him anywhere near what he is capable of lately.

And lets hope for a double Ferrari crash with Fisi loosing out to Rubens on the final lap.

What a mess! I can't really tell what happened to cause all the trouble, but Montoya taking out Kimil is very bad. It really stinks for Scott Speed. He just managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Now it looks like Juan Pablo's nailing of Kimi caused the whole chain of events of crashes.

Indeed a mess. Montoya taking out Kimi was excellent. Renault don't have to worry about Kimi or McLaren at all, anymore.

Too bad about Scott Speed. His entire family came, including his mother who hasn't seen him in a single F1 race until now. I guess they get to go home early, which is too bad.

Sato just took out somebody. One of the Midlands. Ha, Sato...

I just love Derek Dalhurty. He was doing the grid walk before the big show, and was looking for Trulli. But, he just ran off for the bathroom. Now, we don't need to know why, we've got that figured out, but that didn't stop Mr. Dalhoney from telling us. Nice. Gee, Daldorky, why don't you follow him into the crapper and interview him in there. That way, you can ask him if he's going Number 1 or Number 2.
