Using B-Spec and it's Potential

I don't think your B-spec driver was planning to make a pit stop. When I was running that race, I noticed that sometimes, the AI cars would 'miss' the last corner before the pit entrance and not be able to avoid going into the pits. This happened maybe 2 or 3 times to different cars during that race.

 That's funny.

The only reason I did a b-spec race in the first place was to see what the heck the ai was thinking going around the track. If you take a faster car, the ai driver will rear end the other ai drivers in the curves, sometimes knocking them completely off track (sound familiar?). The ai in this game is truly lacking, but I will be using b-spec for the 24h endurances.

So far I've only used B-spec when I'm redoing a race for a second, third, etc. time. I'll do all my races in A-spec (except for the three 24 hr enduros) and if I want to go back and do them again, I'll probably B-spec them.

My strategy is just put it on 4 and overtake, wait until the driver passes all of the car and turn overtake off and put the setting back to 3. I usually always turn on 3 times speed.

I agree about waiting to b-spec a race after I win it myself, but c'mon guys, you are taking the wrong attitude towards this. I see so many times on this forum crap about "PD shoulda made it so you couldn't unlock this track until you get 100%" or all golds, or b-spec should only be available for enduros or whatever. Give it a rest guys, I mean, what do you care? If you don't want to use b-spec THEN DON'T, if you don't want to use for anything other than enduros THEN DON'T. But don't cry out for PD to take the option away for someone else to do it if they want to. If PD does that, they just restrict individual freedom to enjoy the game. Implementing rules like that only limits your choice, and forces you to do something that you might not want to, and there is no reason for PD to do that, and no reason for anyone to advocate that. In my perfect game you would be free to do almost anything, as long as its physically possible (in a Newtonian sense). POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

I only use B-Spec to re-do races and get the money and cars to sell. I'll probably use it on the 24 hr. enduros when I get that far.

I spent about $50,000 on the prize Ginetta G4. I run it in one if the Euro 1000 races each night when I go to bed. I wake up with another $150,000.

That car never loses. Set to '2' and 'overtake' and let the computer do the rest.

I am only 10% complete and I have quite a garage. B-spec rules!

im a little disapointed in the bspec mode. it does seem useful for those long races, or repeating series to stack ur bank account, but i cant get over the fact that when the bspec driver pits, it resets the time (1x, 2x, 3x) back to 1x. like comom here. if were gonna cheat let us cheat, not burn out our playstations. like for example, you wanna get the 24hr races done in 8 hours right, so you start, leave the house (go to school, work, eat, socialize) and you come back, and the race will still be raging on. lol. when on 3x mode, the bspec driver will most likely pit after the fist 10 minutes (real time) so really its still gonna take that 24 hour race 23 hours and 50 some odd minutes to complete. unless, you do it at home (who would, if ur at home might as well play the game :) )and keep putting it back on 3x mode whenever the bspec driver pits :grumpy:

i have one of the oldest playstation2s out there, and she probably doesnt have that much miles left on her before she quits. i just dont think its safe to leave a game running for that long. hopefully you euros might get that bug/glitch (???) sorted out in the pal version 👍

I think my b-spec driver is pretty good, he runs 5:52 on the ring with sauber, thats better than I can do:ouch:

It's too bad you can't run the B-Spec mode for the Rally events. Those things are difficult. I've been racing the Ice on easy, and can't do it. Even when I use the RSC Toyota rally car! I guess I've got some experimenting to do.

I've noticed an odd thing with B-Spec skill level. When you run in a race you've already completed, you get zero B-Spec points. I ran the Edurance Grand Valley race in the '02 Ford GT LM Race Car. It was a pretty close race. I won by about 1/3 of a lap. My points awarded? Zip. That has to be a bug. I don't see why you can't earn B-Spec points when running in a race you've already completed.

when using bspec i switch to pace 5 on straights, and usually do a rapid change of paces in technical portions. it's mostly timing with high powered cars.

not a bad way to earn some green.

1)if you are meaning a possessive it is just ITS but if you want a contraction it is IT apostrophe S.

2)How can your B spec AI driver possibly push harder on a straight stretch? "wow, did you see that, he hit that straight stretch so I turned it to 5 and he gripped the wheel tighter!" It is going into and coming out of the corners where your B spec driver will win/lose a race. (Unless he never comes out of the pits which happens sometimes. He will sit in the pits until you push a button or reset your PS2)

3)Your B spec driver will easily win with a superior machine, but you won't get many skill or battle points. If you put him in an equal machine, unless you are micromanaging him through the corners, he will probably lose.

I use B-Spec for tuning my vehicles sense I can get consistant driving.

I'll use B-Spec to race the races that I really don't want to do. Wish I could've used it during the Special Conditions races with the rally cars. To each his own I guess.

if you start a race in B-spec is it possible to switch to manual driving? because i am willing to race a few hours of the 24h but not all of them.

Last night I was able to rack up $100K while watching TV. Bought me a nice MR car with that cash, that I used to quickly finish out the MR series and end my time in the Beginner's hall.

Hey you want to rack up some quick cash? Race the two, two lap races on the 2nd track on the special conditions tracks. Win that toyota rally car and then sell it for an easy $236,000 Just keep doing that and you can buy any tuned car you need.

I use Bspec when I need to get money to build a car I want to race and don't have time to run the races. Want to rack some serious cash...run that rally twice, sell the cars, then buy the Audi A4 touring car for $450k and bspec the german touring car series. $15k per race, $75k for winning and the Mclaren Mercedes race car which sells for about $650k. Takes about 10 minutes at 3x speed on bspec.

Great tip efi-street. I have the M3 GTR Touring car maxed out - it should be able to win the DTC! $650,000/10 min is awesome!!! And the McLaren come sin handy in other places too.

Not true... the driver does not always go WOT on the straights on the lower settings... silly, but true. Try it and see...

Yet again I'm struck with confusion. I entered a race, I've completed once before in A-Spec mode, with my Kusabi for the first time in B-Spec mode. My points for a race I won, with setting number 5 the entire race, with a 2.2 second victory over the second place finisher? Zip. B-Spec is starting to piss me off.

Did the B-Spec point values change in the status report in the garage? A lot of times the B-Spec points add up for no reason. I've never entered a car with more than 10 and 15 pts available, but for some reason I have 6000 B-Spec points. I'm not sure that it calculates properly, which, yes, can be annoying and confusing. At this point, I'm only concerned with my B-Spec drivers abliity points. Those are the important ones after all, because they directly affect how good the driver is.

I do like using B-Spec for races and tracks that I'm not fond of. I don't like Tsukuba (too lazy to check spelling) and a couple other tracks, so I'll usually do B-Spec x3 and speed right by them as well as some of the stupid one-make races between extremely slow cars.

I have over 7000 B-Spec points, thus, I have over 1000KM in B-Spec and less than half of that in A-Spec. :sly:

Yes, the skill level stayed the same, but the other points went up. In one race I recieved nothing, one point was added to "Machine Skill" for a now total of 81 points. The B-Spec skill level is at 6515 with over 2,200 miles. (I ran several Endurance Races over again for the money)

I'm beginning to wonder if the B Spec abilty goes up faster when you just run alot of different series in different cars, rather than running endurance races. My ability points all went up by 4 when I put my driver in the Sunday Cup and Clubman series, even though I had already run them in A Spec. Seems like the points go up faster when he wins, too.

I think what I am going to do is find races that I have not done in B Spec, and let my driver run them. I'd like to see what he is capable of with all 100s as ability...

I know what you mean about B Speccing courses you don't like... for me it is Motegi Twin Ring long course... :yuck:

B Spec = Bathroom break.... or mix another drink break!

i would like to know how you view the race in B spec? is it like the replay style camera modes? or are there new views? (like birds eye or something). Ive read all the FAQs and seen 1 or 2 screens from B spec but i couldent tell from that. thanks in advance.

i think i found out for all problem for b-spec AI begin IDIOTI side off track while on cruise(2), because it's all about TIRES! for ex: i just did 24 hours Nurb.. i did on SLOW (1) and it's took him to pit stop once a 10 laps, and PUSH(5) took him to pit stop 1 lap... on red tires already..
my reason why cruise(2) or any lower go off track because AI is trying not destory his tires, so he didn't want to do sharp turns so he make wider turns... THATS why he got off track sometime on cruise setting... my favorite setting is Fast(4) with overtaking

By the way, sorry about my english

and also i'm NEW here tho, this is my FRIST post... how do you guys quote someone's post.. i tried that early for Acroth's (Number 25)

I've discovered why I wasn't getting B-Spec points. I ran the race previously in B-Spec mode but didn't get a higher B-Spec level. You don't earn more points for doing it over and over again. You only get credited for the points your earn higher than previously. I guess I didn't keep track of how I raced in certain events well enough.

So, if I run a race for 110 B-Spec points, and then run it again for 120 B-Spec points, all I'll recieve is 10 points. Likewise, if I earn less points that previously, then no B-Spec points will be given because I did not earn any to be awarded.

That is interesting ....

still don't know how to quote.. but here it is..

it's might be because like i told early, your AI was push to the limit and destory his tires, so he have to pit stop.. that why he end up to 2.2 second victory over the 2nd place..

here a better hint, once you start, go PUSH (5) with overtaking
untill he get frist place, put it back to steady(3) and still overtaking on
so he won't destory his tires and needed to pit stop

Gotta love B-spec mode.
Especially in endurance races where you can do 10 laps yourself and the switch back to AI control for another 10 :sly:
