Using both a wheel and standard PS3 controller?

I have a Logitech G27, and I'd like to use the standard controller while browsing menus. Is that possible? It's annoying to use the buttons on the gearshift plate.

Yep, just press the XMB on the DShock.
Head to accessory settings and re-assign the pad to controller1.

Bingo.

i use the gtdf and you can also use both, simarly re setting the pad to 1

Same here, but when I tried to start a race using the pad, The pedals stopped working.

I use the controller all the time to control menus, start/restart races etc.. with my Fanatec turbo s. Start the PS3, start GT5, hit ps3 button on the controller first to assign it as controller 1, then power up your wheel. Everything should work now and no need to go and reassign controllers.
