Leaderboards stayed the same as of when I turned the game off last night. 11/11 is no longer a 'stick like glue' setup

The handling WAS messed up before, the mechanical grip was too strong. Of course if they change the physics you will need to adjust all of your old setups.

Considering i've just spent the past hour & a half on Abu Dhabi trying to get my setup how I like it but cant but yer guess your right they are trying to make it more realistic.

Unlucky MR. S, you'll have to tweak all your setups.

Unable to detect level of sarcasm in replies... :odd:

I personally don't want to see leaderboards with a bunch of world record-beating times, or to see them set constantly in races, although the penalty system needs to be tweaked to really get the times right. And what's the big deal about having to go back through and tweak your setups? (Mr. S, I realize you have a whole thread of setups, so that's a bit different if you want to redo the whole thing.)

Making setups is an enjoyable part of racing games. Some level of frustration is understandable considering they made the grip too ridiculous the first time around, but this patch just added longevity to the game for me personally.

I, for one, think that not all setups are going to be crap from now on. Some might need a tweak, some might need to be redone and some might still work - I haven't had any issues in Singapore, for example.

Let's wait and see if they're going to change it again or if the physics change in general is working as intended. No sarcasm in my replies btw.

Indeed, the custom set ups were largely redundant pre patch because there was basically one universal set up which worked spectacularly well at every track. A couple of small tweaks could be made here and there but by in large they were all the same. I'm hoping it's harder to find the best set up, as it was in F1 2010

I have had some luck (post patch) using Mr.S's setups. Only thing I'm doing different is picking a "Quick Set Up" and then using all of Mr.S's settings except for the gear ratios. That way I think the handling is pretty good and the game gear ratios help you to achive the traction. Traction in the sense of not spinning due to high rev's.
Just a thought from a kid in an old fart's body.💡

I'll start updating them soon anyway. I had the feeling that the gear ratio was kind of weird in Melbourne, for example - yet, it's the same as before. Ah well...time will tell. :)

BAD NEWS:

Just heard back from my mate about the setup glitch, its still here :( its still as good in the corners but it is slower on the straights.

Also tbh I think this update has made the game worse or im having a really bad day. The cars seem less stable & agile, they feel all stiff & loose in the corners?
This game had so much promise last year.....so conniving, good yet terrible. Its sad that it has to be that way. :(

On a side-note: are the tyre durability calculations correct? For example:

20% race -> good for 2 laps
50% race -> good for 5 laps
100% race -> good for 10 laps

Assuming you're running the same setup.

I have only used the 'engineer''s setups; had no idea it was only aero:dunce:; I will have to try setups :); I'd just rather race though instead of hours tuning a car to a specific track. Also online some lobby's don't always give time to set up

But you can save (loading takes like 5 seconds) up to 5 setups per track, Jacques. :)

Tried 6/6, 11/11, and 1/1 springs (PC)...

11/11 didn't really seem to be overly stiff to me, but the acceleration and top speed have been greatly reduced. I was about 3 seconds slower per lap with this setting.

1/1 was about the same. Car wasn't as squirrely as you would expect with the setting, but the top speed and acceleration were affected a lot.

6/6 was very balanced, although still slower than 11/11 used to be. I'm really hoping to see more realistic times on the leaderboards now.

I think the spring settings are going to affect tire wear more dramatically now. I really hope the pit strategy becomes more dynamic and important when doing GP's.

Hm, I'm running 9/7 in Melbourne. Might be the reason for my car being so slow.

Mr. S, the next thing I'm going to test are the wing settings. I have a hunch that they are more pronounced now.

Just tested the AI qualifying times in a GP at Melbourne.

Q1: Vettel - 1:25:521
Q2: Webber - 1:26:251
Q3: Vettel - 1:26:359

Real F1 this year: Vettel - 1:23:529 (Top 5 Q3 times under 1:25:000)

Great, the top 5 drivers still posted 1:22's in the actual race.

Hopefully they didn't overdo taming down the AI qualifying times. This was in GP mode though, not career.

Also, only getting about 45 fps now, when I was getting 80-90 fps previously.

Great, let me know once you're done. :)

Regarding Melbourne: Hamilton made it to P2 in my session, getting 1:23.8XX today. I've had a short race weekend, tho. :)

Yeah, I edited the post. You may see now that there were 1:22 times posted in the actual race. 👎

Tested wing settings at Brazil. Was about a half a second faster with 6/6 wings compared to 11/11 wings, so not as pronounced as I thought they would be. Handling only suffered slightly.

Averaged about 65fps in Time Trial mode, so that's better at least. The 45fps was with a full grid of cars in sight, so that probably affected it.

Meh, I could hardly make it to 1:23.2 or so earlier today. Will have to adapt the suspension, I guess.

Well, being that even 1:23 would be a record time in the race, you technically shouldn't have to, but...

So they made the AI more aggressive or something. I just finished a 20% at Nürburgring and there was a quite a lot of contact at the first corner. I'm also using a damage modifier though...

But, one new thing that I noticed is that there was a piece of debris leftover after the initial stuff happened, and on lap 3 Vettel ran over it and it broke his wing, so I took P1 from him. :) I haven't seen that before.

I just had some crap left in the road from a collision at Suzuka. Ran over it and felt a terrible thud, had a flat about 1/2 mile later. Is that new?

I think it is. I like that it's in the game, but realistically the marshals would clear the track of debris when they had a clear chance. The current situation seems to be that debris remains on track indefinitely, which also means that it's only a matter of time before the player or AI hits it and has a setback.

Well in my case the debris was gone on my next lap. Might have been I picked it up and took it with me, lol. No, there was more on the track, a lot more. I saw it when I hit it and my BK's gave me quite a jolt. But, it was gone by the next lap. Trust me I was looking for it.
Something else I did notice was the "marbles" on the track are a little more viewable now too.
All in all, a nice improvement.

I'm happy with the game now (so far...). The thing is, the tyre wear bug and the online connectivity issues are major enough, and likely easily repairable, to where I'd expect them to release another small patch soon as a fix.

Right, just completed Malaysia (career mode). Legend AI and all the usual shenanigans.

Pit stops: 6 (prime) & 18 (prime)
Fastest lap: 1:32.131 (pole position: 1:30.2 or so)
Podium (1 to 3): Me, Vettel (+12.5), Webber (+13.5).
Algersuari made it to the 4th lap but I don't know why he retired.

Sounds good to me so far...I had started testing in Melbourne but got frustrated. Good to see that it's merely a setup thing.

And I have to concur, Vince. Things are a lot more visible, pretty good overall. Yet, Monaco is still having FPS issues. :(
