Open district/area maps with vehicles in action/adventure games. Especially in linear story modes where one chapter/segment of the game just feels padded out with this. Sure, it can be fun to discover side mission/story things in this segment, but the vehicle traversal gets tiring. Which is what brings this up the most with having to watch your character get in/out of the vehicle and start it up/shut it off/open doors every single time. Let alone trying to find the vehicle after you've run off exploring the part of the open district.
Agree. Two other games that immediately came to mind are other Naughty Dog Games: Uncharted Lost Legacy (similar to the 4th game with the jeep) and Last of Us Part 2 if you can count the horse. Perhaps it's their attention to detail with realistic movement/animations that makes these sections more tedious. But it's also Naughty Dog's fantastic story telling and pacing that makes these open sections feel out of place.

Metro Exodus also comes to mind, in that game there are multiple open areas but one in particular you have a van which you need to watch a somewhat lengthy animation of the character entering the vehicle and starting it up each time.

Another issue I have with open areas in liner games is that they really are only fun to explore the first playthrough. Anything after that you are just hitting the main points of interest unless you really feel the need to explore for anything you might have missed.
