Just wanted to see what video games have been purchased by members here which they have personally regretted and reasons why they didn't like the game!

The first one that springs to my mind is Tobal No.1 on the Playstation 1. As well as being extremely slow, the sound effects are appalling and the commentator shows no enthusiasm at all (Just says K.O like he was reading from a script unlike Tekken or something), furthermore the story mode is pathetic and loses any fun very fast! To top it all of, on the front of the case it said 'sell your Grandma to buy this game' !! 👎

Dick Johnson V8 challenge (PC), I just wanted a V8 supercars game (before V8 Supercars game came out) and it was awful.

The first V8 Supercars (Race driver)(PS2), I didn't end up liking the game all that much, much better than Dick Johnson V8 challenge but still didn't like it.

There are many more but I cant seem to think of them right now.

With games being so expensive i always make sure i've read good reviews of a game first. However, my other half once bought me Wipeout 2097, thinking that i'd like it since it was a racing game! - don't get me wrong, its not a bad game, its just not my sort of thing - i think i played it twice.

The first TOCA game for the PS1 was a major disappointment to me - I hated it and regretted by it so much, I took it back to the store. Luckily, they accepted my reasons - I convinced them that I genuinely loathed the game, and so they let me exchange it. I got Final Fantasy VII instead...

Gran Turismo for making me loose hours upon hours of my future life. :grumpy:

Magic069
That wasn't waisted time, that was time well spent on quality entertainment.

Yeah but like an evil corrupt businessman it snatched my 'private time' from under my nose.

It also led me to spend another 120 pounds on later installments. It's an evil game I tell ya, an evil game!

Legends of Wrestling. Figured it would be cool and it had Bret Hart, but then I played the game and the control system is WHACK!

Virtua Fighter 4 was utter crap next to Tekken Tag...
Also, I regret trading in GTA: Vice City for GTA: San Andreas... I really dug the whole 80's/Scarface feel of Vice City.

Virtua Fighter 4 was miles ahead of Tekken 4 if you spent some time with it. It's not like tekken where you just picked it up and played it. You have had to know what you're doing to really enjoy the game.

Agreed.

Worst game I bought? Some Woody Woodpecker game on Gameboy Color. It was really, really annoying.

R-Racing Evolution
Beat it in 2 hours and realized it was the stupidest game in the world. Never looked at it again. :yuck:

El Gigante
San Andreas

GT4 was a disappointment for me but San Andreas was the game that I thought was crap really.
You can do soo much but it's ALL boring. Never saw a game manage to do that. I can go pretend like I'm eating, but it's always in the same boring McDonalds or something like it (forgot the names). I could drive miles and miles because the game was so big, but the driving itsself was just crap, dont ask me why. I could fly, but thats boring too, I could get alot of police but that isn't fun anymore either. You could drive really fast but then the landscape still had to load before you got there. You could fly a plane really low and then crash into nothing, only to discover the tree that stood there was still loading. Jetpack is boring. The "gangsta" theme is really weak IMO. Gang wars are more annoying than fun. SHooting random people is boring. Ehm....what else can you do...swimming and going with a boat is friggin boring too.

For the guys that are fooled by the rating this game got, it's fun in the beginning as any other game but seriously, it's more boring than XIII and Need For Speed.

I am not gonna listen to gamespot anymore, they have really poor judgement. They only seem to care about graphics and size, but how GTA: SA managed to score there is a mistery for me cause I think GTA San An is uglier than GTA3.

Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

It was the biggest disappointment because KOTOR I was one of the best games I've ever played.

KOTOR II never came close to the quality of I. The storyline managed to be disjointed, confusing but yet utterly predictable at the same time. The locations/planets had very little depth to them. The secondary characters were shallow two dimensional cartoons; I never once gave a bantha poodo about them. And the ending SUCKED.

Latest one was BLACK (PS2) but not really for the game play.

Other than that for the PC it's

TOCA RD2 (plus cheats, payed for them)
Warcraft II
IGI 2
COD
GPL
Splinter Cell 1&2
UT

Touring Mars

I liked it but it wasn't that great. I kept it and Rage Racer just because I thought both were unique (for their time) enough that IF (and that's a big one  :scared: ) I had kids they might like it. I got rid of all the other ****ty ones and luckily most of them were given to me not really bought so no regrets there.

Agreed. Wholeheartedly.

Vice City with climbing, swimming and more independantly targetable weapons would have been just fine. So SA is bigger. So what? It doesn't matter how big it is if 70% of it is just on the way to somewhere else.

Exactly right Famine. There's nothing fun about crashing your 4x4 in the middle of the desert, then having to walk for 5 minutes to find another car. Neither is it fun to spend ages doing a mission and eventually get killed, then end up on another part of the island with no weapons. Why? Why is there no 'retry mission' option? It's insane! Granted, GTA:VC had the same problem, but at least the missions were fun and not as long.

IHRA Drag Racing...horrible game and i put out 15 bucks for it...

another one has to be the matrix (ps2)...you press one button and get 2 combo moves from it...

anything else....no

Golgo 13, on the original Nintendo...

and Contra: Shattered Soldier on the PS2.

Hm... I wouldn't really say that GT4 is a game I regret buying, but a new online version is coming out. If it turns out to be better than the current GT4 (better AI, newer cars, restructured GT mode etc.) then I would throw out my current copy and get the new one.

As for a game that I regret having, its FIFA 2000. Not that it sucked, but it was a PAL version my dad brought for me from Britain. I had an NTSC/UC PSone. You see the problem?

WRC 2 EXTREME........ OMG thats was soooo bad, the physics were apauling and it was very repetitive, music sucked, the only redeaming feature was the channel 4 coverage style of the game, with the intros to each rally....

I bought Driver 3, too, and it was very underwhelming. It was supposed to be GTA with more driving and better physics, but it really just felt like a crappy knock-off. I don't really regret the fact that I bought it, but rather the fact that I spent $50 on it
