I'm excited to try this car, and intrigued as to how it will be placed into iRacing. Some are speculating it will be a new alternative rookie series, others think it will be another FUN series, and some think it will be a rookie series + mixed into a multi-class series at a higher license level.

What would you guys want to see?

I think it would be a great fun series car and then a replacement for the Mustang to go along with the Riley DP.

I've heard/read the Rookie stories too but personally, I'd like to see it up at a higher licence level as well. Perhaps a mixed series as you suggest.

Either way, I'm looking forward to trying it out... 👍

I think it will be a lower level car for the simple reason of sales. If its a rookie car its a potential sale to every member. Put it in the higher levels they limit there sales.

The car is free, there won't be any sales. Cadillac paid iRacing for the car, so they have already made their money.

Part of the deal was that the car must be available to everyone. So this means it has to either be in a fun series or a rookie series.

Was just watching some iRacing videos on YouTube, and came across this one. It's a gameplay of a guy racing with the CTS-V.

yeah, the guy who took the vid started a thread in the iRacing forum last Friday or Saturday with the vid and info. iirc, someone in the thread said the iRacing setup was a demo by the simrig company (CX or sumfink?).

The car sounds good even in the quick and dirty vid!
👍

The cars performance should be pretty close to that of the Ford GT with the dynamics of the C6.R, a car like this is pretty far from the average rookie's abilities. I definitely hope it gets placed on a C or higher class!

The good thing tho bout the CST-V being available to all is that it hopefully will give rookies a taste of some speed. A lot of rookies might get put off by the Mazda MX-5.

I am interested to see what they do with the car

The CTS-V does not need to be a Rookie car. I'd assume a Fun series, since it will be a free car. Probably alternating between Laguna Seca and something like Charlotte Road.

Multi-class is hard to work with right now. They need a different system that ensures a certain number of each car in each race...The new car should be wildly popular and if you go putting it with something like, say, the Mustang, you'll get 15-20 CTS-Vs and five Mustangs in a split. Or worse.

I'm wondering if it will be event more the lines of Indy 500, etc whereas they allow anyone to join and they are split up by iRating.

but yeah a "fun" event could work. It would probably be a ghost town tho after a few weeks though. But at least the rookie can get a taste of speed and have something else to look forward to

I know some people don't use the render each screen option due to the FPS reduction, but it seems like the demo computer they use would have had pretty good specs. Can't figure out why they wouldn't have used it.

Exactly, this is a show PC with a motion platform and everything. I'm thinking the computer is more than capable of running it but the people who set it up don't know about the feature.

It's an option in iRacing that allows each screen to be rendered separately for people with three monitors. It's more difficult on the computer to do this, but the result is the outside monitors don't get stretched like they do on other racing games.

Am I the only person who didn't know we were getting the CTS-V FOR FREE!!!! I logged in today and saw that, I gotta say, although the tracks are too expensive in my opinion, it does make you appreciate getting anything for free from iracing. And the CTS-V isn't just anything, I planned on getting it as soon as possible so I'm real happy I get to save that money for a track instead.

Nothing like a pleasant surprise early in the week! We can thank Cadillac and iRacing for the gift.
👍

What track or tracks are you looking to buy?
