For God's sake! Some of you people are unbelievable. As much as it was somehow Ricks fault, by giving Craig Lowndes a very miniscule touch from behind, Rick deserves to win the title just as much as Lowndes. Why? Because Craig Lowndes is nausiating. He has won 2 Bathursts, 1 championship, several races and rounds. And he has been loved, then hated by his move from Holden to Ford. Craig is the poster boy for V8's, Mr Perfect, hasnt ever put a foot wrong, and now all of a sudden this stupid kid "Kelly" has dashed the hero of his championship. BIG DEAL!!! Rick is the new champion, now whether he cheated or not is very debatable. But who cares about Craig for gods sake. For all that its worth, Craig is a pretty decent guy, he has had a very successful career, and good on him. But seriously people, if this was the first round, then no-body would've cared, penalising either driver in this circumstance is extremely severe, if 888 racing cant win the championship properly, on the track, going to have a sook to CAMS shows just how pitiful they are. Maybe the better man did not win, but thats that, and that is the past.

I agree with you about how it is done, it's over. But, 888 racing could have won, had they been given a fair chance at winning. Really, it was Lowndes versus Rick, Todd, Skaife and Tander.
If this was the first round, of course nobody would have cared. This was the Final and people will care about what goes on in the final.

But it's all said and done, gotta move on....
 
As for Jamie not "helping" Craig out in the race - erm, it was kind of impossible, Jamie qualified behind Craig and the "Tool" girls, and ran behind them in the race... unless he had a extendable arm or something, he couldn't do a thing.
 
well i only seen the race last night,being a holden fan n that its always good to see a holden win but ive always been a fan of lowndes and was routeing for him to win.watching the replay it did seem to be rick was heading for a gap that wasnt there.

EDIT: I just heard on the news that the decision is true. Lowndes accepted the final ruling(sp?) bus still consideres himself the real champion.

but that comment from lowndes makes me respect him a little less now.does he really think he is the greatest driver ever,i mean if he didnt spin can he really say he would have won the championship? somehow i think not 👎
 
But he didn't spin because of something he did. Rick pushed him into it.

But he then got into the side of Todd, straightening him out, so Lowndes stuffed it up after that.

If Rick didn't hit Craig, causing him to spin, yes, I think Craig could've won the championship.

Also, he could have won the championship if it was a fair race between just him and Kelly.

The stewards and race officials even said that when interviewed, that they just want a fair race.
 
Managed to catch the race a couple of nights ago, I think the collision was a racing incident. Kelly went for a gap that Lowndes was in the process of closing, both were therefore the cause of the incident and the innocents, Craig could have used his mirrors whilst Kelly could have bided his time, the Holden was faster on the day by the look of things.

:lol: Yep true, but it wasn't Holden's fault that Lowndes' stable-mates couldn't keep up with him.. Anyway I'm happy for Kelly, proves consistancy pays off big time. (And I'm a Toll fan since the start of the season, car looks frickin' sweet!) :)

This was also the first ever V8's season I decided to follow as much as possible, I highly enjoyed it and will be sure to catch it again next season. 👍

V8 Supercars weigh 1435kg without fuel. At any point during a meeting a V8 Supercar must weigh a minimum of 1435kg with the driver and drivers apparel. Fueled up for a race they might weigh 1510kg maybe. They are not light race cars and they have relatively narrow tyres. They are very easy to upset with a bump, nudge or even a "miniscule touch from behind". Once they are bumped, sliding into another car won't help straighten them up, it will only turn the other car around aswell.

The Holden was faster because Lowndes had a shot wheel (and the Holden had a bit of help).

True, but it also wasn't Ford's fault that Walkinshaw (who just so happens to own both HRT and Toll HSV) has, by the look of it, given team orders to make sure that Kelly wins.

I've been following it for as long as I can remember. It has to be among, if not, the best championship around. Great stuff. I would like to see an actual touring car race with the good old R31's and heaps of cars. Can't wait for the enduro in easter :)

At the start of the weekend it was actually Lowndes and Whincup versus the two Kellys, Tander and Skaife but they took care of Whincup good and proper nice and early in race one.

Lowndes easily pulled away from R Kelly whenever he wasn't held up like when Tander got the black flag and then the drive through.

If it was at Eastern Creek it was the Australian Muscle Car Masters I went to in September. It is available on DVD as is the 2005 AMCM also at Eastern Creek.
 
Apparently Steven Richards is moving to FPR, replacing Brightey, who moves to Britek Motorsport.


He has signed a contract with FPR for five years. BP and Castrol are the new major sponsors for his car, replacing Caterpillar.

Yep, was rumoured a lot during the summer, I'm a bit surprised, but the car should look good.
 
My mistake on the Lowndes championship count and if im right this will be Stephen Richards second stint at a Ford factory team with his first coming in 2000 with FTR (Ford Tickford Racing) Does anyone know who will be taking over his seat at JDR?
 
Shane Price and Jack Perkins are the two JDR drivers for '07.

Sad to see that the Mclaren-Mercedes F1 team is related, in a way, to Triple Eight. :lol:
I actully don't really mind it too much, though their paint scheme was much better when the team was sponsored by Betta Electrical.
