You can't fire up the inside like that. The racing line naturally takes you high on the exit, closing the door on anyone on the outside. You have to pull the move off quickly to give the other guy time to duck back in because it's a blind corner and the cars behind will collect a slow-moving car. But van Gisbergen placed his car on the inside and didn't give McLaughlin room. McLaughlin's mistake was his correction, trying to realign the car to tuck back in, but van Gisbergen left it too late.
