I just wanted something fairly decent after long days at the track and traveling, but we are staying in Round Rock too.

Eddie wants to get something close to the airport, since it's close to the track. I'm going to do some searching in that area tonight and see what I can come up with.

Aren't the AMG and Titan engines dialled back because they're both quad cam? I know Todd Kelly mentioned in an interview he wanted to unleash more horsepower that's available already.

That's cool. We'll see how NISMO go when they change cams. And definitely can't wait to hear the E63s scream!

The quad-cam engines really need to have more revs to be effective. The Merc sounds like its only just getting towards its peak at 7500 RPM.
It'll be interesting to see what happens once Ford and Holden change engines, you could guess that the current regulations will be brought into review.

Just means they need to be carefully when doing this ;)

"Bottle'O video"

One step bonnet repairs.

My personal opinion is that they will keep the same rev limit to help keep engine costs down. On the other hand V8SA might surprise me.:)

The COTF will unlock many doors in the development of the series and the cars. It's up to V8SA to explore them, but I doubt we'll see too many changes soon, especially this year.

Our hotel went from 70 bucks a night to 150 the next week after we got the room.

Bought my tickets on Monday. 👍

Also, Eddie found some great deals on hotels. 3-4 star hotels for $250 for 3 nights. We're probably going to be there for 4 nights though, but still a good deal. I'm just waiting to hear back from my cousin as he knows someone that works for Hilton and he can get us a good deal there.

Well good deal! It's about time you got the ball rolling and with all the events I've seen them start posting, I'm excited even though my dad is coming along with me. :scared:

Just got back from V8 qualifying. And I noticed something, NISMO LOOKS GOOOD out there. The baddest sounding(the best sounding goes to EREBUS) and looking cars in the field( and very speedy too). They just look lower and wider than all the rest.

The best looking Holdens, are the HRT & GRM cars period

The Pepsi Max Crew look waaayyy better on the track. Pics don't do them justice.

After meeting Betty and her husband, my wife having a good hug session with her and smiling each time I heard the AMGs coming and then seeing them scream past, I want to follow the team to every venue. Fans for life...

I have to say I never really liked the Kellys, but since Clipsal I've become a Nismo supporter.
To me they mean business and are here to stay.

Hope you guys get used to the view then.

Despite Bright's penalty, it's still a great result for BJR.

It must be a little embarrassing for HRT. Being the factory team and being consistently outperformed by 3rd-party teams must get wearing.

I'm used to it. Aside from the '09 season HRT have been awful for the last 10 years or so. I don't expect anything much different from them these days. :indiff:

I could see Webb, all the fords(especially Reynolds) and Tander struggling at all sessions. Those cars very loose.

The NISMOs looked planted and stable.

I'm looking forward to Coulthard having his best season yet. He finally gets to show his talent.

GRM are not playing games. It was silly what happened to Premat. He'll definitely be on the podium very soon. Lowndes is very strong and Jamie will not be running away with the C'hip this season.

BABY STEPS FORWARD FOR MERCEDES V8 SUPERCARS
Friday 15th March, 2013Author: Stefan Bartholomaeus ©
The Erebus Mercedes entries remain a work in progress
A number of pre-event upgrades has Erebus Motorsport hopeful of a smooth weekend at Albert Park following a baptism of fire at the V8 Supercars season-opener in Adelaide.
The non-championship Albert Park event is providing the Mercedes outfit with the perfect opportunity to validate remedies to the troubles that it struck in Adelaide.
The team was granted special permission by V8 Supercars to run at Calder Park on Tuesday leading up to the AGP, where it tested an upgraded software package that is said to have fixed the throttle response issues that plagued its #9 SP Tools entry of Maro Engel in Adelaide.
The E63 AMGs are the only cars in the field to run a fly-by-wire throttle system.
Another major problem that the team struck in Adelaide was extreme cabin, and particularly footwell, temperatures.
Lee Holdsworth and Tim Slade both sustained significant burns to their feet in the Adelaide races and continue to sport blisters this weekend.
“We’ve done a lot of work in that area and based on the running we did on Tuesday I think we’ve made an improvement, but we can always be better,” Erebus team manager Dave Stuart told Speedcafe.com of the temperature issue.
“Obviously it’s not as hot here as it is at Clipsal and the races aren’t as long, but we’ll get a pretty good idea of where we are with that over the course of the races this weekend.”
The issue of outright speed remains, with straight-line performance proving a particularly considerable handicap.
Although its peak horsepower figure is said to be comparable with its rivals, the engine lacks grunt in vital parts of the rev range.
The team continues to work on improving the driveability of the M159-derived powerplant through its mapping, but a significant boost is not expected until the first of its permitted quarterly homologation upgrades comes online.
“There’s no too much we can do with the engine until the first upgrade, but this weekend is a great opportunity to work through more of the chassis dynamics of the car,” explained Stuart.
Slade, Holdsworth and Engel will start this morning’s first race of the weekend in 14th, 24th and 28th respectively after an impressive performance from the South Australian in qualifying.
“We’re making progress every time we hit the track, which is what it’s all about at this stage of the year, to keep improving,” said Holdsworth ahead of Race 1.
“We’ve still got to find plenty of speed, but we’re moving forward in baby steps. If we can move forward each race and be in the top half of the field at the end of the weekend I think we’ll be pretty pleased with that.”
Race 1 for the V8 Supercars at Albert Park will kick-off at 1100 local time.

Like I said the gearboxes are set up better for the torque of the push rod V8's of the Holden and Ford :)

No doubt. And I agree, maybe a NASCAR rev limit would definitely help the twin cam engines. I think that shows parity :)

My understanding of that news clipping is, WTF??? Erebus was SBR? how can they forget to plumb cold air to the footwell for a such a hot and hard weekend at Adelaide, In 2000 with the first Adelaide 500 these short sights I could comprehend, BUT! A team and driver line up as experienced as this? How much of SBR is left in that team, clearly the thought and logic processes are not, Weather forecasts are internationally bradcast these days, And surely one of the drivers would have gone, "How do I use the air con" during the Eastern Creek practice sessions, One major oversight there thats for sure,

Now, you can blame it on a new car yes, BUT, Its only a safety and balance upgrade on what we had prior, the additional stuff for cooling etc are still allowed,

As for the AMG motor, They could have used the current spec push rod, as Nissan could too, they did things different, Why? this team is suppose to be so A grade it is A grade, Why wouldn't you develop a full new motor for over a year, they could have used the current motor in the new body and developed the new motor behind the scenes, then it would have been ready for next season,

Hopefully it is only be the motor's holding these cars back, We all know Slade and Holdsworth can drive anything good,

I'm looking forward to Coulthard having his best season yet. He finally gets to show his talent.

This.

I think it's the market relevance aspect which is why they went for those engines.

Do Merc and Nissan still do push rods?

Nissan may still be making some pushrod engines of older design, but their only V8 engine is DOHC. Mercedes doesn't make any pushrods at all now.

They wouldn't possibly badge the Holdens as Chevys for the COTA round would they? Call me crazy..
