Was able to watch bits of qualifying live on my Mom's tablet. Home now so will miss the races, but will avoid this thread so I can watch the recordings.

Not typing a word of the races :)

I agree. The Volvo thing just doesn't make sense if we all know about it.

That NISSAN engine bay has a lot of room in it. Even still, with the engine pushed that far back.

Pretty similar to the crash in the utes today. And those blokes are going to have to rebuild that tyre wall, again

Huge crash on lap 1, maybe 6 cars taken out

Damn, that was huge. :scared: And now Courtney's retired. :(

Solid result for Tander and great to see Engel in the top ten.

Shame with Courtney, he was having a pretty good weekend until then. Good stuff for Engel, and Frosty was flying. Just one more lap...

Frosty should have been released a few laps before. Yeah Engel started pulling away from Bright. Speaking of Bright, good luck to him on his way to Le Mans!

Yeah what could have been for Courtney and Slade...

Volvo V8 Supercar effort set for launch.
Volvo and its Swedish performance arm Polestar will today reveal their plans to enter the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship with Garry Rogers Motorsport.
The launch is set to take place in Brisbane, Queensland, late this morning in an event that will also serve as the local unveil of the high performance S60 Polestar road car.
The V8 Supercar program is expected to see long-time Holden outfit GRM campaign two Volvo S60-bodied cars next season.
The deal is said to be a multi-million dollar, multi-year, commitment from the manufacturer.
It will include technical support from Polestar, whose racing arm currently runs Volvo’s Scandinavian Touring Car Championship campaign.

It's gonna be cool. I'm thinking Volvo might want a more silver/white/blue livery or silver/blue/red or sliver/black with less red like GRM ran a few years ago

I take that back :)

Don't BJR have 3 cars, it says that they will supply 2 S60 bodied cars, so are they downsizing or is it an error in the article

Nice. 👍 Love the Nordica 240T, I have a 1.18 model of that car.

And confirmation. Volvo launches V8 Supercar campaign in Brisbane
Volvo has officially launched its 2014 V8 Supercars entry at a media event in Brisbane, unveiling a new Volvo Polestar Racing moniker.
As previously reported, the Swedish brand has teamed with Melbourne-based privateer Holden outfit Garry Rogers Motorsport.
The team will campaign two S60-bodied entry’s in next year’s championship, powered by a bespoke 5.0 litre V8 Supercars version of Volvo’s 4.4 litre B8444S engine.
The deal includes a technical association with Volvo’s Swedish performance arm Polestar, whose managing director Christian Dahl was present at today’s launch.

The sport will go on with or without Ford. But, I do hope Ford make a decision to support FPR. it just doesn't make sense to keep selling the Falcon until 2016 and not have one in this homegrown series.

Looks like we need Volvo Polestar added to the poll. :)

I wonder when the V8 Supercars will die?

All other major motor sports are going to V6 Turbos or even I4 Turbos.

Holden are no longer going to be making a V8 commodore in a few years time.

Never! Being V8's forever will just make them different and more interesting.

With Warburton in, it's gonna stay for a long while. When the teams start talking about costs, then maybe something will change engine wise. I could be wrong.

Same with F1, they went to smaller engines to make them more eco.

They could have fixed the calender so they are not hoping back and forth wasting plane fuel to while still making the sport good.

Lighter cars, V6 Turbos are most likely.

Heh, "Volvo Returns". It's possibly the least-threatening thing I've heard this year. It's a bit like promoting a Batman film with the most obscure villain imaginable.

Since it's Volvo Polestar Racing, I imagine they'd go for that powder blue colour.

As I understand it, GRM will become the Volvo works team. I wouldn't expect anything major other than a VOLVO and/or POLESTAR decal on the side.

Yeah it's not like Volvo have ever won anything in ATCC.....

It'll be interesting to see if Volvo get a works driver and/or someone they have their eyes on, into the 2014 Bathurst 12H as preparation for the enduros? Think Rydell was already called for next years Bathurst 1000?

Not in my lifetime. Robbie Francevic won the 1986 title two weeks before I was born.

They might, but I imagine the team might go with Perkins and Ritter again. International drivers might be nice, but local knowledge will go a long way. And Perkins and Ritter are strong endurance drivers.
