Me likey.

It a shooting brake, it will be a modern day 1800ES ( the shooting brake version of the P1800).

It'll never match the aesthetics of the 1800ES. That much is almost certain. But whatever modern interpretation of a shooting-brake Volvo are stripteasing us with here doesn't look too bad from where I'm sitting.

So it's a long wheelbase C30 replacement that (considering what has been shown so far) won't look as good as the current car as it trades clever design details for unnecessary musculature. And when they make it they will just turn it into a 4 door anyway; assuming they build it at all because the new V40 makes it fairly pointless.

Yawn.

I'm happy that Volvo is getting back to putting new things out. The new V60 is drop-dead gorgeous. A smaller, sportier wagon/hatch/whatever is a cool move, and I'm excited to see what comes of it.

Kinda reminds me of the Bentone Jet,

Although the Volvo's look pretty great at the moment it is a slight shame they have lost some of the boxyness and identity. How awesome would this be....

Looks like a Rolls Royce wagon
Will this be the great successor to the 240 GLT Estate?

What's with the striptease? It's a Volvo for God's sake.

"It's JUST a Volvo"?

Personally I think that most pre-95 Volvos look like crap. Gutless boxes on wheels. The range over the last 10-15 years has been greatly improved.

The lineup for the next year or two however will have these two models added (albeit with the possible minor visual changes).

The pics in the OP are probably the replacement for the C30, proposed for the end of 2014...

Volvo XC-Concept (Maybe eventually called the XC30)

And the very sexy...

Volvo Coupe Concept (proposed release early 2015) Using the same styling cues from the XC-Concept.

Still Just a Volvo?
I find that the coupe looks damn sexy.
Oh, and it has a convertible lined up too.

Range topping models are also highly likely to be powered by the new supercharged turbo 2.0l lump.

Nothing wrong with Boxy cars...I loved my 240 and 740 Volvos. I regret selling my 740 turbo wagon every time I go to the store or pick up the kids from school.

740 wasn't too bad, I had a 1990 GLE for just over a year, '95-'96. Then in 2004 bought a 2001 S40 T4.
I wouldn't buy another 740 or similar after driving the T4, but the new coupe could be a turner for many people.

Looks so damn shmexy...but a big 2 door wagon makes no sense, not for a company like Volvo.

That car this directly apes that bombed in the 1970s when "2 door wagon" was still a type of car people bought, you mean?

Sorry @eSZee, you're wrong, learn some history. This type of car is an integral part of Volvo's history.

The day my parents sold their 1800S was a sad day in my life...
 Thanks for learning me.

Forgot Volvo is still living in the 70s.
Let's look at what volvo is now. They make sensible cars. And if they do go bonkers, they don't make a new model for it.

I'm not saying it'd make financial sense for them to put a car like this into production, but there's very much a historical precedent for it.
