Could someone please tell me the main difference between "Wangan Midnight" (PS3) and "Import Tuner Challenge (X360). They are both from Genki and i saw night racing on highways on both games. So is there a difference in tuning or at the location, cars?

I'm not familiar with the mangas...
You pretty much answered your own question. Wangan Midnight is based on a manga. Import Tuner Challenge is not.

import tuner challenge is the next gen sequal to the tokyo extreme racer serie's(txr zero, txr 3) tokyo extreme racer drift and drift 2 are ntsc/uc version's of kaido battle and kaido battle:touge no densetsu respectively(dunno why they used the txr series name?)

hope that helps a bit.

You also could have mentioned that all of the other TXR games have been translated versions of the Shutokou Battle series, and that Import Tuner Challenge is Shutokou Battle X, aka Shutokou Battle 10 (even thuogh there have been way more than 10)... ;)

But I guess that complicates things a bit.

just a little lol

All he need's to know is that they are both wangan(highway) games, one is a continuation of the txr(original, not kaido) serie's and the other is based of the manga.

is it just me or do those graphics look a little worse then import tuner challenge?

lol, ok, i just went and played it in outcar view and it's horrible. I was thinking of the garage graphic's. Atleast incar view's graphic's are awsome.

I like the way the guages are lit, look's nice.

Wonder if you can actually tune/mod your car's in this one(unlike the PS2 version)?

Are you kidding me?! ITC had absolutely horrible in-car views. It was an afterthought more than anything.

? are you seroius ? why becouse it doesn't have a person or a wheel?

i think they look the realest compared to pgr3, tdu etc, and you could add aftermarket guages, etc.....

diff strokes i spose...

No more information about Wangan Midnight? It's going to be released this week.

Famitsu-Rating (www.famitsu.com)
7/6/7/7 -> 27/40

If you import the game, which store do you use?

I checked following 3 shops:
yesasia.com US$59.99
play-asia.com US$ 59.90 (Asian-Version) / US$ 64.90 (Japanese Version)
amazon.co.jp ¥6,230

So will the japanese version work on American PS3s? because thats what Im getting from some sites

Thats what I heard too. PS3 Games are Code Free so there's no reason why they shouldn't run on "foreign" PS3s.

Does anyone have some information about the roads covered in Wangan? "Import Tuner Challenge" was way too monotone. Just 2 Rings and the 2 "arms" leading off the C1 for a few miles. You've seen all roads in less than an hour. Maybe even in half an hour, driving in both directions!

I coloured the available highways in ITC on this Google Earth picture

We need the highway's from Tokyo extreme racer 3. The Full Wangan etc, and also be able to drive into the parking area's ourselves. Mabe even a few little section's of inner town for cruising:sly:

Okay, I'm still confused. This is not the kick-ass arcade game. So what is it? Those screens make it look like a very pretty TXR3, and TXR3 sucked.
Especially this pic here:

Because I've screwed that corner up enough times in TXR0 to know it by heart (and the mini-map only helps). So, what is the deal? If it is a TXR game essentially, why is there no right turn shown on the mini-map?

Have a look at the Vid i posted of the R34....

It's Import Tuner Challenge(Shutoku Battle X) In other word's the Newest game in the tokyo Extreme Racer Series. It's for the X360...

As godzilla_GTR pointed out, that screenshot is from Import Tuner Challenge, aka Shutokou Battle X, aka (unofficially) Tokyo Xtreme Racer X.

I don't know what you're expecting, though -- the arcade game(s) and the TXR series focus on the same sections of the actual Tokyo highway system. If you've played Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune, you've taken that same corner.

And there is no right-hand turn on that mini-map because the player hasn't unlocked that section of highway yet.

I always thought Wangan Midnight was Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero with a storyline, published(?) by Namco. I seen it and played it at an indoor go-kart track here in Houston. I'm actually a bit surprised Wangan Midnight will be for the PS3. Looks pretty cool from the pictures I've seen.

I can likely appreciate this effort since I have three games from Genki- Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, and (my latest) Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2. I can already imagine what kind of results this will get:

John's Review Predictions:
X-Play: 1 out of 5
IGN: 3.00 of 10.00

What Genki has been able to do is provide racing titles that actually don't get as much credit as they should. The TXR series is actually better than the "Need for Speed" titles since Underground. Perhaps not as exciting, but still good titles for those who just want to have some high-speed fun. Challenging Speed King in TXR0 in (whatever car was my premier racing machine at the time) is much more fun than losing a Canyon battle against a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII while driving an Aston Martin DB9. In the TXR Drift/Kaido Battle series, I still have the Datsun 240Z. You had to go against the 240Z in Wangan Midnight for the arcades. I'm sure this can still provide some great fun for fans of Genki's games. I don't think the gaming media bigshots will like this game all that much. But then, this will all come back to the issue of providing great fun even if millions of fans don't like this as much as anything from Codemasters, Polyphony Digital, or even Turn 10 (the Forza folks). In fact, I think Genki is probably releasing this game as it is to maybe work on a much better title in the future. Can you imagine a title in the works that would combine racing the highways of Japan's largest cities in addition to taking on the drifting challenge provided in the TXR Drift series?

Perhaps this is another classical case of "laugh now, but cry later" if Genki wants to come up with something more mind-blowing than this Wangan deal here.

The reason why Genki's games score so low in reviews is because they really are crap. But some of us enjoy playing them anyway -- there's a sort of charm to them, and they're the only option for Tokyo highway racing (aside from the aforementioned Wangan Midnight arcade games).

And the liitle bit in the fast and the furious game lol:D
Sorta. That game just has highways that look kinda similar to the ones in Tokyo. The actual layout is completely different.

Speaking of the layout, here are a few images to supplement what I was saying earlier about the sections of the Tokyo highway system...

The roads highlighted in red in the following image represent an overview of the sections of highway that are typically included in the Shutokou Battle/Tokyo Xtreme Racer games.

Zooming in for a closer look, the roads highlighted in red in this image represent the sections of highway that are included in the current Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune games (Maximum Tune 3 is rumored to cover an area similar to the first image above).

Zooming in even further, you can see that a familiar-looking set of streets lie just west of part of the TXR/Wangan Midnight highway "course"...

Yeah, it seems like these games are for the hardcore manga/THR fans, and nothing more. I more or less bought into the hype with Import Tuner Challenge and that was possibly the worst $60 I've spent last year. :indiff:

Too bad this game won't release at a budget price like all the other genki racing games we got.

I got the game yesterday and so far its nothing like the other TXR games...Its good but I dont know whats going on

Well, what's the problem then?

Are the graphics as good as the screenshots promised? Are there a lot of cars included?
I'll hopefully get the game by mid-august, right in time for my holidays/vacation

Is it like the PS2 version were you only race scenario's and you can't tune your car etc? That would suck:(

Also does it have an incar view?
