just about to unlock the second Stug, first second tier tank for me.

One day we should team up. I have tier 2 German Tanks and tier 3 Russian tanks (don't ask about planes, I suck with them).

I refuse to use anything Russian.

So.... Any PS4 players in here or is this a PC master race thread?
I play on the PS4.

We get the honor of playing with the PC crowd anyway.

On a side note, how do clans work in the game, if there is even an actual system...?

I've got some of the Russian planes. They're incredibly "generous" with the tiering and BR on them. Plus, the Russian 20s seem to hit harder than other nations' 30s. Don't use them any more, for those very reasons.

The game is cross-platform, anyway. Which, I imagine, isn't exactly advantageous to the console crowd. Gamepad vs. mouse and keyboard and all...

PS4 has mouse and keyboard compatibility, plus some flight sticks are partially compatible.

The DualShock 4 also has a touchpad that can be used. Mine is set up for looking around, though the default is for flight control.

Oh, I didn't know about the M&K compatibility :D The more you know!

I'm sure my setup is at a disadvantage against those using sticks or mouse, but I seem to get along pretty decently with the DS4. Of course, I'm still learning things every time I play, so hopefully that means I'm getting progressively better. Still not so great at keeping planes off my tail, but that's something I still have a lot to work to do on.

That's awesome about being cross platform I had no idea. I'm really digging the touch pad idea and even more of I can change how is used I'll have to take a look at the setting in a bit.

Man this game is tough to fly in though. Should be really fun one I get the hang of it though. Is there a list somewhere of the compatable flight sticks? @GTPorsche

There's no particular list that I know of, but if you browse through this thread here: http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/170336-ps4-version-usb-flight-sticks-compatibility/ they have a pretty good amount of info on what sticks work. Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS X seems to be the go-to stick for PS4. Last I saw, it was around $40, so it's not too bad of an investment if you're going to be playing regularly. I'm actually interested in purchasing that flight stick at some point in the future.

And my WT works again. Others have run into same issues as I did after updating their Win7, so, just a heads up..

You don't have a PS4, do you? Since it has PC to PS4 cross-platform play.

:eek::eek:

Another reason to get a PS4! 👍

BTW how does it compare to PC? Don't bring in the PC MASTER RACE argument; I know keyboard and mouse is better than a DS4, but just gameplay and graphics (PS4's capability).

@Luminis as for the YouTubers I also watch Krebs. Pretty good tutorials and gags on his channel.

I'd say it's running about equal to medium-high in terms of graphics compared to PC. Gameplay is smooth though. Haven't noticed any framerate issues, even when deep inside rain clouds with cockpit view and rain covering the windows.

Planes control great, so great that when I play GTAV, I feel like something is wrong when trying to fly in that game since using the right stick only moves the camera. Tanks are a bit cumbersome when you're just starting out, at least with the DS4. Took me a few games, even after going through the tutorials to get the hang of the twin stick controls for the tank.

War Thunder isn't the kind of game that actually pushes a PC to its limits, so there shouldn't be much of a difference between the PC and PS4 version in the first place. Maybe some minor stuff like anti aliasing or something, but that's about it.

A pad shouldn't be at that big a disadvantage, if you think about it. Generally, it's going to be the planes roll/yaw/pitch rate that limits the speed of your aiming and turning, not your input device... The reason why I utterly suck with the pad is probably that I'm not used to it

I'm still adjusting to it and I've played it for over a month straight now. Although, I do think mouse/joystick can be more precise with aiming compared to the pad. I can make slight adjustments and it jumps around on me, but maybe that's due to settings and not the DS4 itself. That's something I still need to play with to see if I can make it better for myself, but considering I typically use extremely high sensitivity settings in first-person shooters, I don't think that same setup of sensitivity would translate well to planes.

One thing I have learned: Divebombing with the Swordfish is the worst thing I attempted. I had no idea that plane was that sluggish with maneuvers, but it was my first time flying it.

But, on PS4, there's quite of a bit of jaggies noticeable. Clouds get blocky at times as well, mostly the thin clouds when you get up close, otherwise everything looks good. Haven't messed with PostFX, so maybe it can be worked out slightly by reducing the sharpness.

Well, it does the whole blocky clouds thing on the PC as well, at times at least. If the weather's clear and the sun is setting, though, it can be quite beautiful.

Speaking of beautiful, I've almost managed to research all the Spitfires! Missing only the Mk. 24 (and gotta grind out the SL to actually buy the Mk. 22). Goota catch 'em all :D

I have the Swordfish and Gladiator, and the Japanese biplanes left to do, then it's on to whatever I want, which will probably be most of the fighter/fighter bombers for each country. Planning on having all the planes unlocked but I'm starting to regret my decision of acing all of them. Definitely acing the biplanes though as I'm hoping the slight struggle with their minor instabilities will improve my skill with dogfights. I've already noticed improvements. Also, them being cheap to run and cheap to upgrade makes things easier. Just wish excess research carried over to other planes. Had a ton of excess from the Mk.II Fury when I was finished with it.

My second flight with the Fury Mk.I yesterday resulted in 2 ridiculously easy kills, although I had assists from a tree and a bridge. My first flight ended when I pulled away from a Russian plane I couldn't catch and didn't realize there was a small mountain in the direction I turned to.

Also, it's probably wrong, but I always laugh when someone in a Nimrod crashes at the start of a mission.

Has anyone seen the duel event? It is like aerial gladiators. It is great.

Seems like German Tank Destroyers are the way to go for me. :D

Swordfish aced and put away for good. If there's another plane in the game that is as bad as that plane is, I want to avoid it completely.

I did manage to get one kill on a Russian plane with it though, thanks to the gunner.

Are you playing right now? I could use someone to team up with in German Tanks.

Indeed I do play for now, but I have some cleaning to do soonish..

The PO2/U2.

Although it is a bad plane it sunk the Bismark and most of the Italian fleet.

I'm still overseas and still away from a computer to play War Thunder on. How's the dev server and upcoming patch been coming along?

Quite good. The new US tanks are in and some new planes as well. Really looking forward to the J2M Raiden.

Well... I'm dumb. Let's get a squad together and we'll get on rolling.
