and comment please

You're 2 days too late in posting this.

Honda have spent millions on ASIMO and it can just about stand, walk, climb stairs and dance and it's only about 4ft tall. Yet this "mad professor" in Oxford, working himself, has managed to create a massive robot that can stop a Land Rover whilst it's feet are sliding along the floor and it doesn't fall over?

It's well done, but it's not real.

That's amazing, I actually believe the car stopping test for this reason, metal slides on concrete. So I believe that it's probably one hell of a sweet modification. Yeah, it's kinda sad they used a new mini for it, but it's still cool.

How does the ASIMO pertain to changing a Mini into a robot?
As well as, there is a buyable model from Sony called the Qrio. Yeah, they're both robots, but one is made from a car!

Also, this topic hasn't been posted on GTPlanet yet.

PS. Yes, your grammar has been edited.

Well, what he's doing with this robot is a bit ... far fetched. I believe the Honda referance was to say that a team of Japenese engineers have spent a great deal of time on a 4' tall robot that doesn't do much.

I would say, if this professor has created a Mini-based robot, he's pulling a lot of information from a lot of other research (which he notes) that has been going on for decades. He's spent the past four years on this one robot. He's obviously not doing this alone. His materials are already made, whereas most people before him are machining their own parts as they go.

Exactly as LoudMusic puts it.

Why, when you look at the guys personal website, does he not mention that he has built this marvellous robot? Surely that would be something he would want to tell everyone.

Thank you kind sir. My grammar really is dispicable compared to most of the posts here.

Cunningly hidden subtext - something was posted on 1st April which wasn't real... Hmmm...

Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that this robot, on little funding, can exceed ASIMO, with squillions spent on it. Maybe it's not real... Maybe it's an...

APRIL FOOL

Your grammar has not been edited, leading me to point out:
"As well as, there" - as well as what?
"PS." - postscript. Abbreviation is P.S.

Don't be an ass. Especially not to a member like daan.

It's not an april fool's joke, as I saw it a couple months ago. But i'm still positive it's fake.

PS. can be written as such, due to the fact that Postscript is one word.

Please go type in my statement including the "as well as" in Word. Then come back and tell me how wrong it is.

Nice try though.

I didn't read Loud's post till after mine existed. I figured that this guy was already on a college site, therefore making him well-known enough. You're welcome for the grammar fix. :D

4 posts in a row! tut tut tut! Have you ever heard of the

This question still stands

There is also this. Watch the video again of the Land Rover being stopped. Watch it frame by frame. The front of the Landie goes down before it hits the robot's hand which means it is being braked by the driver. If the robot is stopping it, then why does the front of the Landie go down at all?

Is the grammar OK for you?

I'm so surprised that you people can't see that the robot is CG.

Toyomatt, maybe if you payed more attention to the vids rather then editing other peoples posts you might see that.

Tool

I felt that it would make more sense just to break up my conversation with seperate posts, but I'll make them all one for you. I hope you know that I read up on this guy, and the story sounds logical to me. I'm in no way going to argue this point further, for the fact that you and I probably won't agree. (Except on the fact that we both don't agree on the realism behind this "Mini Robot")

I do understand where there might be some question as to the realism in some of the videos, but considering in these days, the technology I see on the so-called "Robot Wars" television show, at Monster Truck rallies (where they typically bring out a car that transforms into a dragon of sorts, and on a creative living show (this lady turned some cars into a huge driveable house), I still see this robot as a very possible task.

I won't even lower myself to respond to this.

Gladly. The statement has no subject. "As well as this,", or "As well as that," would be acceptable, but "As well as," is syntactically incorrect.

Well, since it came out without an error on my Microsoft Word, I don't really give a hoot. Have a good one.

You give a hoot enough to point out other peoples grammar but, as soon as you lose, you don't give a hoot?

As we all know, Word is teh shiznit when it comes to grammar...

It wants me to change "himself" to "him" when that, quite clearly, does not make sense.
