Yeah that's not looking good at all. To not want any reviews before release and saying any that are made are fakes is pretty telling.
The fake reviews aren't coming from approved sources. They're not being posted on sites like IGN or Gamespot - they're doing the rounds on sites like Reddit, claiming to be from official sources. It's not a case of Ubisoft trying to head off bad press, but rather trolls.

Also, no respectable news source would break an embargo - even for the sake of posting an exclusive, highly-negative review. Doing so would be unprofessional, and would likely see the publisher cutting the publication off from future titles to review. Ubisoft have three major releases in the next six months: Assassin's Creed Unity, the Assassin's Creed "Comet" project, and Far Cry 4. Breaking the embargo on Watch Dogs would see them cut off from all three, and probably denied access to the Ubisoft pavillions at E3 and the Tokyo Games Show.

Hard to forget something you haven't heard of. But I would say Unity, Comet and FC4 are their three biggest releases because they are all multi-platform releases and part of two of the company's biggest IPs.

Watched a stream of the 360 game earlier and crikey, no wonder this game has an embargo. The hacking thing is just like that 'connect the tubes' online game.

I've never played AC before so I'm not the man to make comparisons. :(
There was an optional side mission in ACIV where you gain access to computers by playing hacking mini-games. One involves moving a glowing orb around a maze to complete a path, another has you moving an orb through a minefield, and a third is a math-based puzzle. They're simple things and do not form any substantial part of the game. I imagine WD will have the player performing these games to gain access to a local server, at which point it becomes freely available.

Apart from the loop, their interpretation of Chicago takes a lot of liberties. Makes you realize why rockstar chose to set GTA in fictional cities. Kind of upsets the appeal for me, if I'm honest. Not only is the city grossly incorrect, the actual geography isn't even close. Did they really show mountains at the beginning of that trailer?! Have they ever even been to Chicago??

Edit: And a container shipping port?! Really?

I don't know what peoples ideas of Chicago are but the city is full of water ways, harbours yachts and sits next to one of the largest lakes in the world.

Please note I'm not saying its accurate.

The feeling of water isn't really that pronounced when you're in the city. Along the river, yes, but the lake is pretty far from the buildings so you aren't so aware of it most of the time. It's nothing like New York...which it seems they are trying to make it into...

Also, your screenshot is 10 miles from the lake and it's clearly a rail shipping staging area. The ship canal actually goes through downtown 12 miles northeast. It's not possible for a container ship to go through. I mean, it's not super important, I realize that they wanted to create a city that suited their gameplay, but I don't know why they couldn't just make one up like rockstar does.

I'm saying all this because when the first trailer was released, it suggested that they were making Chicago, which is my favorite city in the world. I was really excited about exploring the virtual-real city and all it's fantastic neighborhoods. But sadly, places like Wicker Park, Oak Park, Wrigleyville, Bucktown, and Logan Square are all in the area that is now, strangely, mountains, and Hyde Park and Chinatown are where the 'wards' are now. Not to mention the area south that was once the site of the worlds fair is now a strange container yard. All of these real areas have unique cultural identities that, I think, could create amazing and unique gameplay, especially within the context of this game. I feel like the areas they've replaced them with are a little cliche, a little generic. It seems like the game is being broken down into the 'rich' area (mad mile or whatever they are calling the Magnificent Mile) and 'poor' areas (wards, docks) when the real situation is more interesting than that, especially as you go south. I feel it's a missed opportunity and a little more generic for it. And once again...seeing Mountains at the edge of downtown Chicago is just weird. Especially because they look like alpine-like mountains, and those are about 2,000km away in Colorado....

Here is the first trailer.

When you're done of course 👍 . And post maybe snippets about how is the driving etc
I'm afraid of posting the full walkthrough before 26-27th because it may be taken down by Ubisoft, i will make other videos of the game such as special edition costumes and certain side missions, soundtrack.

i will be recording the whole game and on 26-27th all videos will go live! :)

I heard the Crytek devs talking about New York, how they quickly ran into issues asking each building and area, time and cost etc. Chicago in Watch Dogs strikes me to be just a backdrop for the games systems.

Would be great for a recreation of course. I believe its been said May Stadium in the game is possibly Soldier Field and Wrigley field merged, also kind of looks like Chicago Stadium from the outside. A fictional near future Chicago is how its described with some city landmarks by the looks of it.

I think the essence is there and I'm just glad its not New York.

Crazy how early some have got this. I've got the PC retail box version coming.

Looking so much forward to this game, and getting it for the PS4 on release. Shame you can't fly helicopter in it though.

Currently uploading 7 parts, check out my youtube for the walkthrough videos if you're still on the fence about buying the game or simply want to watch for fun.

Enjoying it so far. There's some nice stealth elements and story is fairly engaging.

Graphics wise its just a standard looking game really.

Spoilers coloured in white below.

The Watch Dogs sequel got hinted at after the credits.
The game may be called "Watch Dogs 2.0"
final part of the walkthrough being uploaded in a few hours
