The fake reviews aren't coming from approved sources. They're not being posted on sites like IGN or Gamespot - they're doing the rounds on sites like Reddit, claiming to be from official sources. It's not a case of Ubisoft trying to head off bad press, but rather trolls.Yeah that's not looking good at all. To not want any reviews before release and saying any that are made are fakes is pretty telling.
Also, no respectable news source would break an embargo - even for the sake of posting an exclusive, highly-negative review. Doing so would be unprofessional, and would likely see the publisher cutting the publication off from future titles to review. Ubisoft have three major releases in the next six months: Assassin's Creed Unity, the Assassin's Creed "Comet" project, and Far Cry 4. Breaking the embargo on Watch Dogs would see them cut off from all three, and probably denied access to the Ubisoft pavillions at E3 and the Tokyo Games Show.
