The Car: Any 6 cylinder Formula racer (F686, F687, F688) (no F094 or F090)

The Track: Midfield Raceway

The Race: Arcade mode: single race: normal difficulty (3 laps)

The Rules:

1. You must have 2 tires on the track at all times.
2. The rumble strips are considered part of the track.
3. No wall riding or touching.
4. No cutting the grass or short cutting.
5. No hybrids
6. No cheating of any kind.

Time Discussion: All "T" Times. (you may discuss 2nd or 3rd lap times, but not your total time or your first lap time)

The deadline: All Times Due before 00.00hrs Central Standard Time (New Orleans, Louisiana, America), Tuesday the 4th. (Same as 06.00hrs London. Tuesday the 4th.)

Sounds like fun, 1 question tho, i use pal, is this the poly 001 or 002?? i have the 001 but not the 002.
if it is the 002 what is the easiest way to win it?

I don't really know anything about the pal version.

But here's the deal.

F is for formula
0 or 6 is for the cylinder count
86,87,88,90,94 is for the year

How many formula cars are in the pal version?

Regardless of that, 6 cylinder formula cars are the limitations.

If pal has an obvious disadvantage, then I will divide results based on that.

Just give me a list of what is availible in pal and what those cars are in the ntsc version.

There is no easy way to win the 002
Unless you have Xport you have to run one of these races...

The only two F1 cars available in PAL are the P001, aka F094s, and the P002, aka F688. So yeah, the 002 is the only one legal for this race.

with only the poly 002 aka f688 there is a majior disadvantage for the ones with pal as the f 686m has more hp and better speeds

Put in a few laps and so far have

T1: 15.749
T3: 31.699

Only have tonight to post a time since I am away on holiday until next week... not looking too hot so far, (in the Poly 002):-

T1 = 16.4xx
T2 = 33.1xx

Not attempted the full 3 lap race yet tho..

Generally in the past when we have had multi-lap races, discussing some individual laps has been OK...but GoKents has the final say on this of course.

Hey guys, I just went and edited the thread for everyone's good.

We may discuss individual lap times, but not our first lap times.

So you can mention the 2nd or 3rd lap times, but not the first.
We have to keep some mystery about what times everyone will pull.

Best lap I have pulled is a low 51, but geeze, that was a very lucky lap...hit perfectly the curb for the long left turn before T2..I think that turn is the key for a fast lap time.

My best total time is quite good, but I think there are loads of secs to improve

Well it looks like I am going to have a long work week this week again. I dont know if I will be able to bring my times down or not, but I will try and see if I can get some race time in in the mornings before work????

I ran some setup laps in the 686/M last night, I have 2 clean saves of 51.2, and both had a T1 that was .300 slower than my best, and both lost a tenth or two in some other spots. So I'm shooting for a 50.7 or less for an ideal hotlap. Stringing two low 58's together after a good opening lap will be tough because you have to take some chances to get laps that low.

Here's my setup for the 686/M, keep in mind that I'm not an expert on tuning the F1 cars as I never use them, but it feels pretty good so far. Maybe it can help someone that is new to these get off to a decent start (Or off into the kitty litter )

Arn't all the PAL users at a dissadvantage here, I don't know much about the NTSC cars bit the 002 isn't that great compared to the 001.

None of the 6 cyl cars are as good as the 10 cyl cars, so we're mostly in the same boat.

The only F1 I've driven was the F094/H in one pass through the FGT, and I suck through the back side of Midfield, but I'll give it a whirl.

PAL users are up the creek, like Mr.P I have a 686M on my card and Ive found it to be at least a second faster than the 002

So I have a question, are the PAL users who have the 686 sharked to their card allowed to use it, or are we going to disadvantaged by more than 150HP and have to use the Poly002?

If so I suggest the playing field be leveled

I'll be the first to admit that I suck at driving F1 cars and that Midfield is my worst track in the entire game. 50.7 was MY target for now...

But everyone knows that you're a holy terror on Midfield Ron, so I'd expect nothing less from you As, far as I can tell, a 50.7 is faster than any other record on the enitre net for this combo.👍 I'll do my best to keep up though



@ UB, we need to get Ron's magic setup! mine probably sux in comparison...glad you liked it though
