Whay is GT not a sim?

You might say because nowhere in the world are completely stock road-cars raced against each other, except in Best Motoring video's. It's one reason that I can't wait for the FULL GT5 so I can drive some proper racing cars again.

Thats why GT is a driving simulator not a racing simulator.

Check out the suspension on one of the Ferrarris, I can't remember which off hand (think its the F430), it doesn't act the same as any of the other cars in the game. For a simulation to be a simulation, I'd assume that the same rules would have to apply to all cars, not just some.

I've just fired up GT5P and played it for 10 minutes and I've had to switch it off.

It's like watching paint dry.

lol... this comment has made my day :dopey:

I attempted a translation into English, which was quite tricky so bear with me on this one. Now given what I know of such things thus far, the closest approximation I can safely say is 90% accurate is:

"I am crap at it."

Possibly with the suffix of "..because it isn't an overproduced frenetic nobrain crash fest" but I may have overdone it with that bit and spoiled the joke.

My Sierra XR suspension doesn't behave like my Mondeo Estate... does that mean its not a real car?

Dammit!

LOL, you totally missed the point! I was not talking about the mechanics of the suspension, but rather how you can alter it in the game. on the Ferrari in question, you cannot (for some unknown reason), lower the front ride height into the negative. yet on all the cars I have tried, you can (even other Ferrari's).

Why? I don't know, because it has never been explained. In past games, you have been able to unrealistically modify a large variety of cars beyond what would be actually possible in real life. It seems a little silly, that I can't lower the the front of the car by even one millimetre.

you have also unwittingly, hit upon yet another flaw in the simulation. As you have stated, your Sierra XR doesnt behave like a mondeo Estate, and that same thinking can be appleid to the game itself.

How can I have the same setup options for a Focus ST as I can for a Formula one car? One is a production car, whilst the other is a custom built race car. Surely there should be a wealth of tuning options for the Formula one car, whilst the Focus ST would have a very limited set?

You attempted a translation from English into English? Bloody hell your bright aren't you?

You then went on to assume that because I only played it for 10 minutes and got bored of seeing the same tracks/cars (delete as appropriate) I must be 'crap' at it?

And then you go on to assume that I'd like a 'frenetic overpriced frenetic nobrain crash fest'

All I can say is (edited by moderators you can not call someone what you just did even though it was true and quite funny and yes we've also checked the on-line lap times of VagabondAngel and yes they are proper crap so it seems Vagabond is indeed talking out of ones Ar...)

VagabondAngel = See you next tuesday

Vagabond - sorry mate had to quote you on this - how can you give me a cussing on my post when you wrote this???

"I didn't say I was upset, although I'm slightly upset by your inference

Full games cost £40 ~, yes? So I expect more than half of a full game content. Which by my maths is more than a handful of cars, only half of which are any fun, and a damned site more than 6 tracks with a couple of variations.

Congrats on not finding any of my post amusing though.

No ammount of kissing PD's bumhole is going to change the fact that they are a game producing company and we are the customers. Its their job to keep us happy, not the other way around.

Edit the second: I previously stated in another thread a while back that I was happy to be drip fed by PD 'til the full game arrives. Drip feeding requires a drip that drips. This one is either blocked or somebody's fooling around with the tap. "

It seems that you would like more updates as well - and if the case why the sarcastic comments towards my post?

I tell you what mate I'm gonna race you tomorrow and whip your ass.

oh we can't - no private rooms - crap this drip feed updating malarky aye iut?

Suprised you are not bored with it yet as well......

I rest my case.

This is starting to look like YouTube when it comes to the quality of comments. :indiff:

Sorry - My excuse is that its Friday night I've had 5 cans of Stella and I'm dissapointed by immature, childish commets.

Anyway whats the weather like in Sweden?

Merry Christmas All! :)

I'll take refuge in the fact that I was not needlessly abusive, merely sarcastic.

Forgive the assumptions but since it takes more than 10 minutes to do some of the races.... you see my thinking? No? oh well... you are at least secure in the knowledge that my lap times are below average, cos that mAkz m3 tHIk and invalidates my right to have an opinion :)

You have fun now y'hear? Stella always lubricates these situations with such overwhelming diplomatic verve. But you can ignore me; I am after all childish and pointless.

And yes, well spotted - I do like to play devil's advocate when it comes to the demands we make regarding GT5P. Its an amusing debate.. at least until someone gets carried away by taking something too personally :)

Very good points actually - I assumed it was just an oversimplification on PDs part since its a simple Quick Tune menu as opposed to the full works. But upon reflection is does seem rather stupid.

The morning after :ill:

No hard feelings - we will have to have a race together when we get private rooms.👍

Have a good Chrimbo.:)

Thats why GT is a driving simulator not a racing simulator.

Talk about semantics! Why, then, are there races in it? If its only a driving simulator there should only be time-trials or "trackday"-style events.

Ok, racing and driving simulator's simulates using a car, doesnt matter whether its a race car or road car its still a simulator.

Unless you have something nice to post, dont post at all 👍

Turbo I wish you controlled our news papers and the News on the TV as I hate reading/seeing about peoples real feelings, the REAL world.

I wish they would report on just all the nice things as I hate to see pepole sufferng and/or expressing their true feelings.

I want everything to be nice like you.👍

I love waiting for updates.

It's really nice.

You should give up waiting, it pretty obvious that the update is not coming this year, Like KY says:

"But this is Gran Turismo, so it might be a little bit late."
