I find it interesting that barring the "traffic," the AI in the Civic one-make seems to feature all the pre-00 Civics except one of the two EK-era Civic Type Rs. I can't remember if it was the '97 or '98 model, but maybe one of them was absent simply because it makes no major difference when it comes to the field of AI opponents. I also find it interesting that any Civic can enter, regardless of how contemporary it is. Even the Garage RCR Civic can join in.

Honestly, I'd totally be down to see something similar to this event, except it's a more formal return of the "Type R Meeting" event from previous games, complete with a PP limit of perhaps 500 and the permission to use any Type R model, including the Civic, NSX, and Integra.

On a similar note, if we get other road-going Pagani models like the Zonda F and Utopia, maybe we could even have all three models join in for a return of the "Italian Avant-Garde" event.

Getting a late start on the challenges this week. All picked, dressed, and ready to go.

American FR Challenge 550: Pontiac GTO 'Judge' '69 -> CRB 🟢
The Silvia Sisters: Nissan 180SX '96 - 625PP -> CRB 🔴 Just impossible to do a clean race WIN without an OP car...
Hypercar Parade: Lambo V12 VGT -> first time driving this. Understeer for days 🫣 -> CRB 🟢
World Touring Car 700: VW GTI VGT Gr.3, came in stock at just under 700PP and never drove it so good excuse. Not that bad -for this race- -> CRB 🟢
Honda Civic One-Make: Civic Type R (FL5) '22, had it on RM and had no idea it was wet  It was a nice change with the traffic, did not see it coming! -> CRB 🟢

To resume the Civic one-make opponent talk, I found this DVD whose cover confirmed the Spoon EK Civic did race in Super Taikyu in real life when the car was recent-ish:

The in-game's livery, however, features number placement more similar to the car used in the "tribute" build.

It only now occurred to me that they also put this on the 97 EK9 and not the 98 EK9 like the actual tribute car. Another mysterious PD choice.

After doing this week's challenges with the Randomizer selection first, keeping the cars well within the suggested PP level mostly, I actually performed my "Destroyer Tour" with highly overpowered cars. That's not been racing at all ... but it's been super fun for sure.
And it's been a bit interesting too to see how far you can actually go within PD's "race regs".

Don't take it too serious guys, but I'll give you the respective runtimes and fast laps as a comparison and will add a couple photos that show the final destroyer overtakes :

I'm afraid I'll repeat this next week ! :D

The races this week were good, but the Civic race is one of my favorites in a long time! It's rare that I play a single race more than twice, but I think I've done this one 8 times now with various Civics. Keeping them close to 200hp makes for a super fun race.

I've got plenty of pretty Civics, but I just had to make a beater to contrast in this event. Imagine the neighbor kid in his riced out beater also put a turbo'ed ZC and some suspension on it.

Lots of time and layers in this one, but I love it! And she goes ok too.

Looking forward to more events like this in the future!

Got through them all..

weekly-challenge-202505w2-r1.jpg

Laguna Seca - Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi '68 - I must have driven this thing before because it already had some SS tires on it. Easy win for the first ticket.

weekly-challenge-202505w2-r2.jpg

Willow Springs - Nissan Silvia K's Aero (S14) '96 - Tried this once with only a tire upgrade to SS. Not nearly enough. Went back for a second time with some upgrades. Just managed to squeak out a win on the final corner for the second check box.

weekly-challenge-202505w2-r3.jpg

Toyota Expressway - Honda Civic Si Extra (EF) '87 - Again, tried with only a tire upgrade, but I bailed out partway through the first lap when it became clear that the car just couldn't keep up. I went back to the tuning shop and added most of the sport and club-level improvements. I tried again, but it still wasn't enough. I was still getting swamped on the main straight. Back to the tuning shop for a turbo, which changed everything. Made for an easy win and the second ticket.

weekly-challenge-202505w2-r4.jpg

Interlagos - Porsche Mission X '23 - Upgrade the tires to RM. It's a good thing I did because slowing this car down takes a lot of runway. Easy win for the fourth box checked.

weekly-challenge-202505w2-r5.jpg

Red Bull Ring - Aston Martin V8 Vantage Gr.4 - I ran this on RM tires, short shifting at about halfway through the rev bar to save enough fuel to run 5 laps. There was rain on the radar, but it never hit. It was an easy drive to the win and final ticket.

Won 1M credits from the roulette ticket.

In the Civic “One model” race, PD have added traffic!
They’re doing the thing!

The race with traffic was a really nice surprise. More personality in GT races please!

Honda Civic One-Make: The traffic was a pleasant, if slightly scary, surprise.

The addition of traffic made the Civic race a blast to run and, quite frankly, a breath of fresh air. We absolutely need more of this type of thing showing up!
YES ! Traffic was a very nice surprise, I'd love to get much more of these ! They could have 6 cars racing and all the other ones being traffic with a wide range of cars, and they should start earlier, on a bit smaller track so there's more "traffic" during the race.

Did not had rain at all. Was struggling a bit on the straights but butchered them in the corners so it was quite easy.

I decided to see which completely stock Honda Civic cars (default SH tires) I could win with on hard difficulty.
Type R (EK) Touring Car, Type R (FK2) '15, Type R Limited Edition (FK8) '20, and Type R (FL5) '22.
I noticed that the AI had turbo boost on the last lap and erased my FL on all but one race.
I think all the other stock cars are too low on power to even be competitive. I also tried the Garage RCR Civic for grins and won by 41 seconds.:D

I've done it with the stock EK9 on CS tires as well. The FL5 is overkill, the FK8s are pretty OP too, but an EK, EG, or EF with around 200hp is the sweet spot!

Ugh... a non-Special One Make and the Lightweight K Cup. I guess the latter is inevitable but I really dont like how GT7 handles them.

At least the other 3 look fun. 2 of them for blasting through with a Corvette C6 Chiron Engine Swap and the other is Maggiore

On one hand given the GT5/GT6 situation, it appears PD really went "Screw it, let 'em be mad" having all those liveries. On the other hand, I'm seen similar inspired liveries so much that it just feels like a PD thing, including a parody of this in GT Sport:

i am using the Bugatti (VGT) Gr1 for the 800 pp, Corvette 01, for both the one make and the American races, the Nismo for the gtr race, and the new Kei car for the k-cup

That thumbnail though... 🥶
Likely will use the newly-added C5 Corvette for the American FR Challenge 550 event, but for the actual Corvette one-make, I think I'll try using a stock Corvette C8. (Though I might get Sports Soft tires for it.) Then, for the newly-added round of the Lightweight K Cup, I likely will use the tuned Suzuki Jimny I had, as I think its 4WD will be great on the curvy layout of Eiger Nordwand.

Just play all new events today and somehow i had the feeling that Eiger new race will be on weeklies tomorrow.
And now seeing Famine's pick and .....oups it's true.
Although didn't win the first time i race it and too much traffic for CRB hunt.
I try to set the new Suzuki but i wasn't good , so i prepare a Copen for the case .
I also bet that this race will be the most difficult of the group, the other Keys are fast ( short of ) also are 15 of them and they have outrageous lead that ( over half minute ) needed to run 5 seconds per lap faster at least !!! .

The new Vette is as expected , twitchy typical muscle car, but the new Ferrari is a disappointment somehow or at least that's how it seems to me .
Hope the 6* ticket not to bring another gt3 again as the last two i got .

Any settings for Key Eiger race will be welcome since 22's - 23's needed to be victorious.

I did the Kei race a couple of minutes ago. Won with my 399 PP S 660, the car doesn't have a refined setup though, just power parts added like turbo and exhaust ... It's been a close race indeed, I overtook the rabbit on the uphill section of the final lap. Got the CRB secured.
Tomorrow I'll try the new Carry ! ;)

Edit
Ah and btw here's my car selection for tomorrow :

I tried one of my Carrys. Low turbo but had to dial it down to make the pp. Just didn't have the grunt on the uphills. I ended up 3rd.

Went with my go-to for these races, Copen. Even that I had a hard time. I only caught Igor in the last lap on the LAST turn for 1st! It's the uphills where my cars have a hard time. It's gonna be tough tomorrow.
