The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is starting to land on consoles, updating as midnight arrives on Friday morning in your local time zone, with five new races to challenge you across the next seven days including a debut for some of update 1.59’s new content.
Weekly Challenges comprise five events for players to attempt during a seven-day window, beginning on Friday morning each week. Four of these come from the existing races in the World Circuits menu, with a fifth “Special Event” created just for that week. To complete the races you’ll need to place third or better, and in any order, and the more of them you check off the higher your bonus rewards.
For the second week in a row, the American FR Challenge 550 forms the entry level event, with a two-lap race of the Big Willow course at Willow Springs. All you need is an FR road car from any American brand — the “550” part of the name is a recommended Performance Point (PP) value for a competitive race with the AI — which would seem to suit the new Corvette. Taking the win earns you 10,000cr.
The Nissan GT-R Cup is up next, with a five-lap race around Dragon Trail Gardens. You can use any road-going GT-R, including the Safety Car, and in any state of tune but you’ll be limited to 700PP. Winning is worth 50,000cr.
A new race is up next, in the shape of the Lightweight K Cup event at Eiger Nordwand added in the 1.59 update. You might need to unlock this if you haven’t already done so, and the requirements are the same as every other event in this series: any Kei car on Comfort Soft tires and at no more than 400PP. It’s a six-lap race, and victory earns you 75,000cr.
Our Special Event is the penultimate race this week, with a one-make challenge for the Chevrolet Corvette. You can use any generation of ‘Vette in this five lap race of Grand Valley Highway 1, though the race cars aren’t permitted to take part — even if all the cars are wearing liveries inspired by real and classic racing Corvettes. There’s 92,000cr on the table for coming home first.
As usual we’ve got a World Touring Car event to round things out, with the WTC800 race at Autodrome Lago Maggiore. You can use anything you like here, so long as it’s not rated any higher than 800PP and is using Racing tires, but the AI field is composed of Gr.3 cars if you want to still look the part. It’s a ten-lap race and there’s 168,000cr on the table for you if you win it.
There’s a variety of bonuses this week, starting with the odd Six-Star (Parts) Roulette ticket for completing any one event. Finishing any three awards a 150,000cr credit tickets — which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts section to get the cash — while there’s a rare Six-Star (Car) Roulette ticket for clearing all five. This can gift any Brand Central car (including Invite-only cars) worth 500,000cr or more.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday May 23.
