Hold my beer!

For those who like a challenge, try win this race with a Clean Race Bonus on Hard difficulty with a stock Renault RS Turbo '80.
No tire change. No ballist. No ECU. As is straight off the showroom floor.

Clean Race Bonus

made some mistakes at the 700 wtc race pitted at the end of lap 8
had early monsoon during the GR.B race had to pit twice the 2nd time just to change a tire and refuel.
the Supra is a rocket at straight line speed
the A220 is just so fun to drive light and nimble
the euro race is simple with a fast car

Have fun with the Supra's this week guys. PD should increase the prize money only if you beat each required event with the higher difficulties of the A.I.

It would enhance more motivation and challenge for the players. Just saying. But I doubt PD will listen and do it. They don't even check GTplanet anyway for new ideas from the fans and players of the game.

Knocked out the first two (hard difficulty). I didn't have time yesterday to pick and dress cars so I'm making it up as I go along.

weekly-challenge-202507w2-r1.jpg

Watkins Glen - BMW 3.0 CSL '71 - Upgraded the tires to CS, which put me 40+PP over the suggested amount. Still, I only managed to catch the leader on the final lap, and get by with some creative reinterpretations of the track limits. First ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202507w2-r2.jpg

Road Atlanta - McLaren 650S Coupe '14 - Upgraded to SS tires. That put me around 680PP. It was just enough to take the lead in the final corner. Second box checked.

I spent the rest of my morning session getting annoyed at the Supra race. I picked an undriven GR Supra RZ '19 for it. On my first attempt, I only upgraded the tires to SS. The other cars just drove away from me. I quit after the first lap, went to the tuning shop and installed all the sport-level upgrades. That didn't help. The cars were still just pulling away. Back to the tuning shop for the club-level upgrades. Slightly better, but I still couldn't catch a single car. Back to the tuning shop for the semi-racing upgrades (mid-range turbo). The car sounds like a vacuum cleaner now. I hate it. At least this time I was able to overtake some cars. Ran the full race for a P7 finish. By then, I was out of time. Suppose I'll try the racing-level upgrades next. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll lower the difficulty level.

Race 2

Race 3 Had to settle for 3rd. 650bhp, 1150kg, RH.
IMG_6351.jpeg

Race 4 No stop. Just lowered and tightened suspension. Left front tyre was less than 1/4 from being fully red as I crossed the line.
IMG_6352.jpeg

Race 5 No stop. FM3 to Lap 9=1.7 laps left in tank. FM1 redline shifting, ran out of fuel exiting final corner. Coasted across the line 16 seconds ahead of P2.

Gran Turismoâ„¢ 7_20250711113346.png

1. To begin the week, I used the Polo GTI, it's a pretty decent car, even on comfort tyres, though it was difficult to catch some of the faster cars. Difficulty: 2/5
2. For ROTSC, I decided to try out the Honda VGT, I got it from a 5 or 6 star ticket a few months ago, and never really drove it. It's very quick, which made the win easy. Difficulty: 1/5
3. For Supra One Make, I used the A90 '20, I tried it stock, but found it was too difficult. I was going to tune a A80 supra, but seeing how expensive one was, I tuned the A90. I really should have put some handling upgrades on, but still managed to win. Difficulty: 4/5
4. For WRC, I used the NSX GR.B. Seeing as there wasn't much coinciquence if I crashed into the barriers, I stayed out on the racing slicks until lap 5, where I switched to Intermediate tyres, before switching to Racing mediums for lap 8. Difficulty: 3/5
5. Finally, I used the Red Bull X2014 Junior for WTC 700, which made it a cakewalk. The car uses so little fuel on map 3, and it's so grippy even with racing hard tyres that I one-stop it. The only interesting parts was trying to set the fastest time, and on lap 8 when I spun out on the entry to Cooper Straight. I won with a minute diff. Difficulty: 1/5

Maybe in general the base car + 100pp is a good yardstick?
In general perhaps. In this case +200PP is stretching it on hard difficulty, not sure if a 700PP A80 on sports softs can win it, at least cleanly.

Challenges complete. Some tricky ones in there this week. Managed to complete all on hard difficulty, but will need further efforts to obtain a couple of elusive 1st places...

European Sunday Cup 400: Peugeot 205 GTI - Cams, Pistons, NOS, adjustable manual gearbox, slight detune. Tough race, even with NOS it's hard to catch first, but with a few more goes, I recon I can make it. Current PB - 3rd
Race of Turbo Sports Cars: McLaren P1 GTR - STD but for Custom ECU @70% + Power restrictor @70% + 55kg ballast. Still to much for the pack, easy win
Supra Special Event: GR Supra RZ'19 - RM Tyres All upgrades except unremovable engine parts. I not the best round Fuji. Even with all upgrades and 590bhp I was still getting gapped on the straight. 2nd
World Rally Challenge: Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally - STD + Mid Turbo, RM Tyres. Took a couple of attempts, but a rain free race gave me the chance of a last lap pass for 1st and the win.
World Touring Car 700: Radical SR3 - VGT V8 swap, Race brakes, suspension, Diff, G'Box, ECU and RM Tyres. Sounds and pulls so much better than the stock engine, more like a chubby SR8. Demolished the field, just needed to be a little careful with fuel, but FM1 and 1 stop for fuel, was no trouble.

Pic of the Week: Rally 'Grale passing the Pug!

The Supra race is ridiculously fast , reminds me the one with vipers at Trial mountain few months ago .
Can't enjoy it at all and i don't give a damn about CRB in this one .
Need to spend way more in order to equip a car with what needed to win .

What i enjoyed the most was turbo cars race with my Express.

Other than that i might try lapping all the field at Hats if is possible ( normal level ) with TSO 030 .
Of course with so many traffic ahead , no questions about CRB .
Can't hold two watermelons under the same armpit.

Edit

Mission accomplished

Fun set of races this week, I enjoyed them all, maybe I'll do them all again just for fun. Got to use a nice variety of cars, too.

Watkins Glen Short Course_.jpeg

Love this little Renault. Managed to win by the last straight on the last lap, as seen here. It struggles on the straights but floats through the corners. I love it, adds some spice to the race.

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta _.jpeg

Great battles were had with the Escort. Not the fastest car out there, but certainly the most fun to slip through the crowd in.

Fuji International Speedway_.jpeg

I really loved the Supra race. I'm not someone who loves Fuji all that much, but it really suits the Supra. Decided to go with the Turbo A, since its my favourite Supra. Plus, figured everyone else would go with the A80 and A90.

Tokyo Expressway - Central Clockwise_.jpeg

My setup was not meant for this track, it was understeering a lot. Left a lot of scars on the front of the car, the only reason I won was luck. Next time I try it, I will try a different car. I feel like this track is more fun with slower cars.

Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit_.jpeg

Finally, Brands Hatch. One of my lesser driven Gr.4 cars, the Mustang handles lighter than it looks. I really like it. I find myself liking the less popular Gr.4 cars more.

Selection for the races.

European Sunday Cup 400: The most fun event of the bunch. Hard difficulty and no assists made this absolutely fun.
Race of Turbo Sportscars: Very challenging considering the massive power disadvantage.
World Rally Challenge Gr.B: Hate Tokyo anything so put on easy, took the Lancia and it was done.
World Touring Car 700: Aston Martin Vantage Gr.4 and it was pretty easy.
Toyota Supra One-Make: Didn't bother with a mega build and because I didn't do this the same time as I did the other races due to a big headache, put that on easy just to rush out the video (hence the lack of voice also)

Yeah, thought I’d cake walk with my Group A spec(450bhp/1400kg) A70. Ramped it up to 688 PP after I finished last. Thought the cars were on RS, but they’re on SS with downforce.

This week I decided to go all Toyota (minus the Sunday Cup obviously) so these were my picks:

1. Porsche 356 A/1500 Carrera ‘56 - 480PP CS tires (classic German engineering never fails)

IMG_6541.jpeg

IMG_6542.jpeg

2. Toyota Mister Dos 😎 GT-S ‘97 - 600PP SS tires (gave it a midlife crisis paintjob to lift its spirits)

IMG_6539.jpeg

IMG_6540.jpeg

3. Toyota Supra 3.0GT Turbo ‘88 - 678PP SS tires (close win and race!)

IMG_6546.jpeg

IMG_6545.jpeg

4. Toyota Celica GT-FOUR Rally Car - 668PP SM tires (no stop race, easy peasy)

IMG_6544.jpeg

IMG_6543.jpeg

5. Toyota 86 GRMN ‘16 engine swapped - 675 PP RM tires (another no stop stint, very tail happy 😅)

Easy races this week because again I've done most of them except the special.
Fuji-Much as I love these one make races, I'm not really a fan of driving an overpowered/ hard to handle car. I didn't want to use the modern Supra so an A80 it was. Had bumped it up to 800hp on RS with downforce on max but it still suffered from understeer and a bit of oversteer. Was not going to waste my time trying to tune it more for this one race so just drove it as it was. I took first halfway through the 3rd lap.
Fuji International Speedway_ (2) by 2cam16, on Flickr
Tokyo in the same car I had won this before,WRX. Easy win even with 2 stops. One for IM's and the other back to Racing after the rain stopped. lol
Tokyo Expressway - Central Clockwise_ by 2cam16, on Flickr
WTC700 in my new choice for the 700's, my swapped Escudo on RH. Race was over by the second lap. Fueled on lap 5. Lapped all except for 2nd,3rd,and 4th. Monster Tajima would be proud! lol
Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit_ by 2cam16, on Flickr
I decided to bring it to Road Atlanta and took the Tingram "Hyundai". Easy win by around 15 seconds.
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta __1 by 2cam16, on Flickr
I used Watkins to try out the Nations Cup freebie.

Just a quick one .
Is there a way to win first race having only 400pp ?

The suggestion in first race is at 400pp , but as i see it there's no way to deal with it having so less pp when the two frontrunners are over 500 pp.
I might not be fast as many other players here but i think the suggestion is totally wrong .
You are correct. I have every car in the game and there is nothing under the suggested 400pp that can win. The most challenging stock road car I could find that can win with a Clean Race Bonus was the Renault RS Turbo '80 (410.69pp)

I think it’s when the E36 was added, someone posted the top car in its respective PP was greater than the suggested PP. Maybe the Hakosuka could do it with rear aero and a two way LSD.

My choices for the week. I decided to try some different cars instead of my usual assortment of AMGs. All pretty easy, except for the Supra race at Fuji. The 2JZ-A70 was sliding all over the place, it wasn’t fun. Ended up winning by .26 seconds. I did a no stop in the Group B race and just about held on through the rain. The Sunday Cup and Turbo Sports races were pretty straightforward and happened to be on two of my favorite circuits in the game. WTC-700 was pretty easy as well. Pitted once at halfway for fuel and lapped up to 3rd. I did collect the CRB from all races except for the Supra One-Make race.

Your post triggered my curiosity and I tried, well, something similar at least since the R5 Turbo isn't available at the UCD atm.
Took the 1972 Alpine A110 that I had used anyway. It's not full stock any more, it's got a wide body and wide wheels for the looks, ballast and a restrictor and I dialed it in to 410 PP, that's where the R5 Turbo is afaik. Otherwise the car was stock, no power parts, no grippier tires etc. And even after balancing the weight a bit, it's still a handful at times ...

I ran around ten races and indeed could manage two wins, one without CRB, the final one including the bonus. The results depend ( as always ) on the traffic and how the top car does ( in my case it's been Lopez in the yellow Megane ).

The 400 PP suggestion actually is a bit weird - yesterday I had an old Porsche top front that was running a 3:34 total race time. Don't think I could ever be that fast in a 400 PP car.

Well done!

Good ideas you have there. Yep most of my races were chasing the yellow megane but I did see the Porsche a few times as well. No chance in the RS Turbo when that's in play.

I'm working on a new challenge for the last Weekly Challenge and Brands Hatch. It's capped at 700pp. Racing cars only. I'm using a stock Impreza Rally Car '98. It's super hard as it's only a 580pp car.

I've tried it so many times and only won it once but not with the Clean Race Bonus.

Another tough challenge for those who are keen - Win with a Clean Race Bonus using a stock Impreza Rally Car '98. RH tires.

Another week done (still hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202507w2-r3.jpg

Fuji - Toyota GR Supra RZ '19 - I don't think I've upgraded any of the cars in my garage as much as I have this one for this race -- virtually every single upgrade from sports to racing, including RS tires. It was a handful to drive, but it made for an easy win. Second ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202507w2-r4.jpg

Tokyo Expressway - Nissan GT-R Gr.B Rally Car - Ran a 5RM-5RM race. It wasn't pretty. The front left tire was gone at the end of each stint, resulting in a fair bit of wall riding. Still, I managed to bring home the win. Fourth box checked.

weekly-challenge-202507w2-r5.jpg

Brands Hatch - Ford Mustang Gr.4 - Ran a 5RM-5RM again, changing tires on the pit stop. I had to do some light short-shifting to get the fuel to last. It wasn't my best race. I made a couple unforced mistakes that each cost me a few seconds. Going into the final lap, I was only in P4 with a 3-second gap to the cars ahead. I thought I might need to make a second attempt, but the AI let me catch up and handed me a P2 finish. Good enough for the final ticket.

Okay...so I didn't do a write-up of last weekly because I did all the races on first time of asking surprisingly, but here's what I used for that one for completeness sake;
Screenshot_2025-07-04-01-16-41-303.jpeg

(Yes I did use the Infiniti with VR which was a mistake)

AS FOR THIS WEEK...uhhh the first event was easily the hardest one to beat within regs (as I always do these with PSVR2, Hard AI and matching the highest grade of tyres the AIuses in each event), so that one actually took me the longest to complete as I will soon try my best to explain, but here's this week's vehicle selection;
Screenshot_2025-07-12-00-05-30-161.jpeg

  1. Lightly modified MiTo on CM tyres - turns out this little hatchback was perfect, but it took me a while to work that out...in fact the MiTo was my final guess before deciding the overpower the event but thankfully I didn't need to but even still...I tried all sorts of vehicles prior to this including the new Citroen BX, but that one didn't work out too well, I mainly had to hope for a grid without the blasted Porsche 911 (which it and the Megane rs are 100pp ABOVE THE RECCOMENDED PP LIMIT) - thankfully the equally illegal Renault Megane that can show up is a pathetic driver, thankfully the MiTo proved juuuuuuust about capable enough to beat the event.....barely, first place before the final two corners on lap 3
  2. Highly modified Porsche 959 on SM tyres - god Porsche cars are so problematic for me to drive, and this one in particular was very pointy and prone to massive oversteer under braking, though strangely oversteering from the front, the event was easy, the real challenge was the car in all honesty haha - got first place by the beginning of lap 4
  3. Highly modified MK3 supra on SS tyres - this one took me a while to work out the tune level of the opponent AI, I tried light and medium tunes but those weren't fast enough, did a highly modified package setup and that did the trickk keeping the race closed enough to be enjoyable but doable. Got first place on the final lap because the opponents were really fast on the straights while I was better in the corners.
  4. RCZ GrB with medium turbo and full racing gearbox equipped, on RH tyres - this one was a riot, though sadly it did not rain, this car is really fun to toss around, did stiffen the car up a bit for road use beforehand though but yeah this one was pretty easy aside from pitting a bit late for tyres, meaning on lap 8nmy front left was DEAD dead for most of the lap, threatening a restart around every corner - got first place on the start of lap 8
  5. Engineswapped Alfa 4C Gr3 road car Mazda6 Gr3 road car on RH tyres - okay, my first attempt with this one was with the Alfa 4C with the Suzuki VGT Gr3 swap...but I ran out of fuel halfway on the final lap stupidly, the fuel drain rate on this particular event was absurd so I decided to counteract this with a 787B swapped Mazda6 which ONLY JUST did the trick even while running fuel map 6 the entire distance, I was still barely enough to get me over the line - snagged first place finally on lap 9
Soooo yeah, stressful week this time, hopefully next one won't be so bad!

As for the MiTo's setup for the 400pp race I used the following;
Street suspension
Sports clutch
Racing intercooler and air filter
Close ratio low gearbox
Sports ECU
Full LSD
COMFORT MEDIUM TYRES (stock CS)

Hey people, guess everything's stated already, don't think I've got anything really new to contribute atm. Like most of you I had to work hard for the wins at the first three races, even harder for the CRB wins. Nothing came easy or at the first attempt but finally I had achieved the max. Happy about that ! The races at Tokyo and Brands Hatch were easy, the cars I had chosen sure helped a lot.

Race 1 - Alpine A110 '72 / 171 hp / 140 kg ballast / CM / no tuning / 425 PP

WC_250711_R1.jpg

Race 2 - Honda Civic FK8 '20 / 470 hp / SM / race setup / 640 PP

WC_250711_R2.jpg

Race 3 - Toyota Supra RZ '97 / 630 hp / RM / quick and dirty setup / 695 PP

WC_250711_R3.jpg

Race 4 - Subaru Impreza RC '98 / 745 hp / 40 kg ballast / RH / race setup / 700 PP

WC_250711_R4.jpg

Race 5 - Mazda Atenza RC '17 / 787B engine / 885 hp / RH / race setup / 700 PP

WC_250711_R5.jpg

And now ... next thing I definitely will try is @jad_morffier 's Subi challenge at Tokyo, stock settings are only one setup sheet away ... :D

Last but not least my hardest challenge this week - Win the World Touring Car 700 in a stock Impreza Rally Car '98 with RH tires and get the Clean Race Bonus.

It's no easy task as you're racing a 580pp car in a 700pp race. But it can be done and it's hella fun. It took me all afternoon but we got there in the end.
