In one of my accounts I used the Corolla GR Supra & Gr Yaris for the Brands Hatch & Road Atlanta. In another user I used the Peugeot RCZ '15 & Renault Megane Trophy '11 on the same tracks. Strange how the GR cars must have toe & camber tuned to understeer the most even on RS tires because the length of these short cars makes them unstable [even they are 4wd cars & prone to understeer by default}, i.e. easy to turn. I also made the Megane oversteer which is even more strange since it is a FF car, but sometimes max downforce rear is the best option when camber & toe tuned for most oversteer.

We should have the option to make Tokyo rain or not if we want to.

Here's another stock car challenge for those who want to spice things up a bit. Win with a Guilia GTAm '20 straight off the showroom floor and get the Clean Race Bonus. Hard difficulty.

Done.

Thanks, I hate it

Now that I've done it, I can go back to pretending that Sports Hard tires do not exist.

I believe then RNG gods blessed me with the line-up. The Sierra Cosworth was the fastest - dominant on the straightaways, and surprisingly competent in the corners. Not sure I would have had a chance if the MC20 appeared. Despite me rolling my eyes the many times the Alfa lost traction, this was good practice for throttle discipline.

I still hate, hate, hate the way powerful FR drivetrain cars exit corners in GT7.

You can find the replay under #challtunes, #stockchallenge.

Nice work!

Being that most road cars come off the showroom floor with Sports Hard tires, I don't think you'll enjoy most of my stock car challenges. 😀

For those struggling with the Supra Special Event, I was successful using the '97 Supra. I had an old Tokyo 600 tune which I'm pretty sure I would have grabbed from Prianos tunes. I just took off all the ballist weight put the ECU back up to 100%

Edit: just realized I had SS tires on lol. Would have been way easier on RS. 🤦

Last but not least my hardest challenge this week - Win the World Touring Car 700 in a stock Impreza Rally Car '98 with RH tires and get the Clean Race Bonus.

It's no easy task as you're racing a 580pp car in a 700pp race. But it can be done and it's hella fun. It took me all afternoon but we got there in the end.

Here's the best result I've achieved within a 3 hour period and ... way more important ... within my limits of passion and patience.
No win, no CRB but a podium, I'm ok with this. I must say it's been good fun and the car is a pleasure to drive at that performance level. I sadly never had a grid where I got really close to the top, the standard result was P4 about 15 seconds behind the leaders.
Anyway, love such side challenges !

All wins on hard difficulty:
1. Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce'67 - 440pp,SH
2. Porsche 911 Strassenversion '97 - 689.5pp,SS
3. Toyota GR Supra RZ '20 - (engine swap),721.5pp,RS
4. Subaru Impreza Rally Car '98 - 700pp,RM,one pit stop
Peugeot RC Z Gr.B Rally Car - 700pp,RH,no pit stop
5. Subaru Impreza 22B STi-STi '98 - (engine swap),683pp,RM,one pit stop
Lamborghini Huracan Gr.4 - 690pp,RM,one pit stop
All cars have tunes by @praiano63.

European Sunday Cup 400: The most fun event of the bunch. Hard difficulty and no assists made this absolutely fun.
Race of Turbo Sportscars: Very challenging considering the massive power disadvantage.
World Rally Challenge Gr.B: Hate Tokyo anything so put on easy, took the Lancia and it was done.
World Touring Car 700: Aston Martin Vantage Gr.4 and it was pretty easy.
Toyota Supra One-Make: Didn't bother with a mega build and because I didn't do this the same time as I did the other races due to a big headache, put that on easy just to rush out the video (hence the lack of voice also)

Fun week overall. I quite liked the Supra race!

Race 1 - Fiat 500 8V Lounge SS. After 9 attempts, I walked away with a 2nd place to Lopez's Megane RS. That said, despite being on the stock CM tires, this 500 was fun to drive once I tweaked it to handle the 161HP I crammed into it.

Race 2 - Suzuki "V8" Escudo. My 700PP tune made it's presence known in the Road Atlanta Race Of Turbo Sports, crushing the AI by over 42 seconds! An absolute beast of a car.

198042bb94734-screenshotUrl.jpg

Race 3 - Toyota GR Supra '19. Being the only 2019 A90 in the field, I made sure that quantity doesn't equal success, as I cruised it home to a 5 second win over the gold A80. Tuned to 700PP on RH tires and featuring a close-ratio high transmission to maintain 8 gears, this Supra was on fire! Lovely car for sure.

Race 4 - Hyundai Genesis GrB Rally Car. Nothing really to say here. I'm not a big fan of this course with GrB cars. Got the win and moved on.

198042b527f83-screenshotUrl.jpg

Race 5 - Garage RCR Civic "Gr4 Edition". Engine-swapped and homologated to Gr4 regulations. Managed to no-stop this race on RM tires by shifting very early. Still had a lap of fuel left at the end, as I crossed the line in 1st by 11 seconds. Great car. There's a reason I've put nearly 26,000 miles on it as of writing!

So, yeah, after suffering for science, I've learned that winning @jad_morffier 's challenge at Brands Hatch requires both skill and luck.

I ran this a couple more times with a similar result. The three privileged goofs up front walk away with the race, meanwhile, the traffic is supremely annoying. I've gotten into arguments in the braking zones with the AI:

Me: If you brake this deep and still make the corner, you admit that you're pretending to use the same physics as the rest of us
AI: *Flies off the road to out-brake me [and itself] and obtain the Pyrrhic moral victory

Once I get into clean air and stop raging, I can get near the mid 1:32s. With some time trial time, I can get those 1:32s more consistently, but I'm not sure it can do much against this.

Aside from a bit of uncertain high speed understeer, the stock Impreza Rally Car is a joyous little torque monster.

Love it! That's what it's all about for me. Challenging yourself and having a blast at the same time. When that is the focus the position you end up in doesn't matter.

I have raced many custom Sophy races and Sophy Quick Races using stock cars without even getting to the podium, and loved every moment of it. My only goal is adrenaline pumping wheel to wheel clean racing. Getting on the podium or winning is not the priority. It's just the icing on the cake.

So, yeah, after suffering for science, I've learned that winning @jad_morffier 's challenge at Brands Hatch requires both skill and luck.

Well said. The skill required is a good, consistent pace. It's pretty much balls out all the way. The other skill you need is prediction - ie. learning and remembering the scripted AI moves. Doing this race multiple times you get to learn where you can overtake clean.

Where the luck is involved is which AI script you're gonna get. I noticed at least 3 different AI race scripts. 1. Swift dominance. 2. Viper dominance. 3. Chevy dominance. Sometimes the Swift will pit on the last lap. You can win that race but it feels hollow. The other two require all the right moves to get past everyone without slowing you down.

I also noticed the cars I pitted in front of would come out of the pits in front of me. What I found was they had more fuel left in their tank coming into the pits so they got out quicker. So I started playing around with short shifting where I could without losing speed.

All up a great challenge that brings life to racing with the old AI.

Really easy week with one exception. Sunday Cup requires a little more than 400 PP it seems, the two Renaults up front are pretty quick. Turbo Sportscars you can be around 630 PP and not have much trouble on SH, just watch for how fast the Nissan Z is. Supra one-make was way beyond what I thought it would be, they're all on SS tyres and are in heavily tuned cars, even a fully tuned Supra 3.0GT wasn't that much quicker than them. Wanted to use one of my part tuned road cars but not a chance with how quick they are. Gr.B at Tokyo is very easy even if the weather doesn't confuse the AI, you can do the whole race without pitting on RH if you look after them and fuel map 6 is pretty much 10% a lap. AI is very slow on a few corners, just keep the momentum up and watch for rain. I won by 50 seconds without anything more than a bit of drizzle, if it rains hard it's even easier, was running 1:17s on pretty heavily worn tyres in a stock Evo Gr.B. WTC 700 is interesting, the AI isn't that quick so it's possible to use a lot of different cars. I won by a few seconds in my NGTC spec Focus ST, pitted for fuel only on lap 5 and didn't have much trouble catching the Viper. I think if you push them hard enough they'll do an extra stop, only the Corvette did in my race. Fun car to drive there, not sure if the weather is random but it was very overcast for me, shame it can't rain.

Cars for the week:
full
how do you get more than 3 cars in the scapes pic?

how do you get more than 3 cars in the scapes pic?
Photoshop with multiple pictures. Easiest way is make sure the cars never overlap and then leave one car in the middle as a reference and place the others either side, then just crop it or cut the cars out that you want.

I had a pleasant surprise when the randomizer gave me the Jaguar D-Type '54 for the WTC 700 at Brand's Hatch.

Just equipped some Racing tyres, a few mild engine upgrades and boom, an antique more than capable of sparring with the modern Group 4's.

I think it came out at around 620PP with RMs.

I started the WC on Friday morning and finished up last night
I started out at Brands Hatch with the Escort RS

I did a no stop and got the easy win. Next on to Watkins Glen. I was time limited so I pulled out my Heart of Racing Valkyrie
20970566920480058.jpg

Next I took a swapped Supra RZ to Fuji. It took a lap or two to remember to nit mash the gas coming out of corners

20970589111416635.jpg

For Road Atlanta I chose car I haven't used in awhile one of my swapped MR2s
20970184355057582.jpg

Finally I took the 98 Impreza to Tokyo. I set it to FM6 and it was kinda of crazy because I didn't realize it was raining because I was so focused on my racing lines. When everyone pitted and switched to IMs on lap 4 I looked at the water meter thing and I said oh it must be raining. Now looking back it makes sense why I was doing so much sliding between the tunnels. Anyway I changed from 40:60 to 50:50 and kept going until I got to lap 7 where I switched to RMs and finished in 1st.

Ok, second "Special Challenge" done. It was beating E. Jones in a full stock Giulia GTAm. Did three runs in total, finished second then first then first with CRB. Check !
I'm a bit disappointed of the car tbh, I expected something totally different. To me it felt less like a sports car, more like a ... fast boat.

You can find the replay in the GT7 showcase under #rjruns #stockchallenge.

That last event fuel multiplier does not mess around, even at FM6 I had to seriously save fuel to make only one pit stop and I crossed the line with 0 fuel left in the tank !

Awesome work! Boats are harder to steer when they are not in the water. 😀

Before Spec II update the GTAm was under 600pp. It was a Tokyo 600 killer straight off the showroom floor. I made many credits using this boat.

You reffering to the WTC 700 race at Brands Hatch?

A friend of mine had been test driving so sport sedans and had this to say - though the Alfa did not exist when he said this, I believe his words are fitting here: :P

"Too big to get out of its own way. And someone coated the rear tires in butter."

The IMF has been successful again - final mission completed - RJ hunts down G. Kudo in a full stock Impreza CRB RC at Tokyo.
