Bell-bottom pants are back.
INORITE???

And yet my kid doesn't want to hear anything about how I know what that fashion is.

"You don't know anything about fashion. You're a dad."

"But look at these pictures . . . you think those clothes are something brand new?"

"You're from the 1900s."

Revengel ponders altering inheritance plan "Trust me, I know about these and clogs. That's your future. And wide collars."

"But . . . you don't know." Rolls Eyes like she's on 'High Rollers' looking for sixes. "You're a DAD."

Revengel forgets to check self "hOW Do you think I got that way?"

And that's why we're in family therapy, doctor.

Hopefully GT8 has AI capable of basic pit strategy whenever a drop of rain appears.

Can't believe how much the AI slow down for some of the corners here now too. Inostroza was hitting the brakes for T1 about 100m early.

I get it was a bit hard beforehand but they could've at least used a little finesse in reducing the difficulty instead of mangling it.

I tried the SFS [Super Formula Stupid] race at Fuji today.

OBSERVATIONS
The AI were a lot slower than I remembered - 1:26 to low 1:25s slower. They always got on the brakes quite early, but that behavior was much, MUCH more pronounced here. I had to do emergency evasive maneuvers going into Turn 1 and the big sloooooow chicane because of this.

The AI also lost their extra 50hp on the big straightaway. I could keep up with them, even with my lazy tall gearing. They're still quick through the final sector, but that quickness felted much fairer.

RACE 1
I went in with a sprint build on Racing Softs. Trying to do a 1-Stop strategy, I fully barbecued the left front tire when I boxed in at the end of lap 8. I made short work of the AI everywhere though.

Fraga pit in on the last lap, while everyone else stayed out for a no-pit run. I clawed back my lead in the final moments only to pick up a penalty for giving the bollard at the high speed left an all-too-early celebratory high five. Oh right, penalties. Because this race has penalties too! 🫠

That penalty was precisely enough for second place to catch me down the final straight and win by 0.05 seconds. The real victory, however, was mine; because I laughed at this honestly rather than snapping my controller in half and eating its insides.

RACE 2
I gave in to peer pressure, fitted Racing Hards and aimed for a no-pit strategy. This was previously impossible for all but aliens because of the AI shenanigans listed by @Tommy_D above. The no-pit strategy back then was flambéed Racing Medium tires; extra molten.

But this time, I picked the AI off, one by one, group by group, and was pulling away from the field halfway through the race. One of them woke up during my 6 second lead and ran a 1:24.9 - and then went back to sleep. I finished 1st by 11 seconds.

The first race had rain, but not nearly enough to warrant a tire change. The second was dry bones, restarts and all.

With that out of the way, it's time to return to my driving bliss...

Had another go at the Super Formula race in completely dry conditions, still won by 25 seconds running RS/RS pitting on lap 8. Fast laps were mid 22's, saw the AI do a few low 25's but they're inconsistent especially with their braking points. Race is a lot easier than it used to be it seems, still a really fun track to drive and I always enjoy the SF cars.

Question: How many of you take 100R nearly flat in 5th gear? Before I didn't but following this monster lap, I did for last night's race. Yes the left Front Medium was getting way more cooked then the others but it worked for me...

I was as careful as I could be, but yet again no clean sweep...

Here we go:
No-shamed it in the SF race. Went straight to easy. Used my SF23 on RM. Rain was showing and it was misty by lap 6 but nothing really. Easy race. Won by 45 seconds. I could probably win it on Normal but eh.

The Ferrari race was another easy one. I even downgraded this car and it's still too fast.

Silvia Sisters in one of my Sils. Easy win.

Spa was probably my most exciting. Thought I couldn't do it in my CX-30. 559pp on SS. Won by around 4 ticks over the usual Yamanaka Supra.

Trial Mtn. in this old trusty Mustang. A bit over 550 at 570 on SS. Easy win.

Got a Veyron with the ticket but sold it as I already owned one.
Now back to my Custom races. lol

the radar fooled me during the SF pitted half way though the track was going higher then a 3rd in wet meter and still won a lot closer then i would of liked

Yesterday's not been my day, you know, when nothing works as intended or hoped for ... and that just continued somehow into gaming and doing these races. The good thing is they're done and dusted.

I did Tsukuba in my massively detuned but still way too fast "Twisted Silvia Sister". An easy win with bonus. So I plan to try the stock car challenge later today. For Trial Mountain I had picked the Fugu Z until realizing that it's not classified as a street car, so off and away into my LT5 swapped 1958 Corvette which was, you don't believe it, massively detuned but still way too fast. An easy win with bonus. And the similar even goes for the Spa event with my almost stock but still way too fast Sony Afeela. Btw, I really like driving that car. Now the Special Event has been a pain. I don't like the track and I still don't like the car. I hop in and tell myself "You just gotta live with it." So I try to cool down, stay patient, stay careful and get my race done. My 812 is still stock except a bit of aero and wider wheels but I achieved a win with bonus at my third attempt. That's something at least. Fuji : No rain, no stop, RM compound. Got into the lead against Lopez when braking for T1 on the final lap as they all brake too early there. Had some minor wheel contact at two occasions so no bonus.

Have an enjoyable weekend, gals and guys ! 🙋‍♂️

Final race complete (hard difficulty).

Fuji - Dallara SF23 Super Formula / Toyota '23 - This took a couple tries. My first attempt was a no-stop on RHs. Could only manage a P6. Next I tried RMs. That was the ticket. Ran a no-stop again. Took the lead as Fraga pulled into the pits at the end of lap 13. Final ticket obtained. It gave me a Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder.

Challenged myself this afternoon with another stock car attempt. Been spicing up the American FR 550 race at Trial Mountain running this car :

WC_250718_G6.jpg

Bought it at the LCD and went to track directly trying to get first or a podium finish at least including the clean race bonus. It's not super hard, I'd say : 🌶️ ... but it takes patience, a somehow refined throttle- and brake-control, a good estimation regarding AI moves and a little bit of luck with the grid itself. Had quite a couple of good runs, good fun and the clean win is definitely possible.
