The Tokyo race is such a bummer. Firstly, it's damp conditions where only I have to be weary going into the first few turns but the AI cars drive on as if on rails. I even raced with NSX '17 & the Amemiya RX7 car but because of PP restrictions, not only I had to use RH tyres but reduce the power/add ballast to get them into 600PP.

And what is shocking is that both of these cars usually lead the pack & they're on RS tyres. I wonder how they fit into the 600PP?

I love Tokyo's all layouts but this race is a bit frustrating. Luckily, the weather doesn't change but it seems unfair to start with RH tyres & lower my power whereas the AI cars have all the glory.

P.S. - As mentioned above, will try the Mazda RX-7 car tomorrow as the 6 star ticket (car) is a prize that I want.
Use sports tires. Trying to use even racing hards will force you to do exactly what you're doing - dropping power and increasing weight to the point where you're not competitive. None of the computer opponents are using racing tires.

Feels like I've found a fast set of cars for tomorrow :

Lucky me - on one hand. On the other - I've spent 4M cr. for the Genesis and the Nismo ( both first time drives btw ) and my rough guess is I will have to win the SF event 25 times for the refund. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... forget it !

Picked and dressed. Keeping my fingers crossed that the GT-R Safety Car is eligible for the Special Event, since I don't have any miles on it yet. Given that it wasn't in @Famine's screenshot earlier, I'm not getting my hopes up. No big deal, though. I've got lots of other GT-Rs to pick from.

Decent week, Jimny race is pretty easy with something slightly tuned, nice time of day but still not a track I like. Schwarzwald League I didn't really like just because I tried a stock C63 and didn't win, so I had another go and went 7 seconds faster and was further behind, then I switched to a slightly quicker car and won by 3 seconds despite being no faster over the race, not sure the track suits those cars either. One-make requires a pretty heavily tuned car, they're on SS and are fast on the straights too. VGT Trophy is also at a really nice time of day and the AI was surprisingly challenging, the Genesis is really quick although I think the Porsche will also be up front if it doesn't get held up. Super Formula was decent fun even if it is really easy, I always enjoy driving those cars and this track is more challenging than you'd think because of the bumps. Won by over 30 seconds running RS/RS and pitting on lap 5, most of them are on RH and aren't quick, the others that are on RS stay out too long and lose a lot of time with completely worn out tyres.

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: The Sky’s the Limit

The latest new Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are going live around the world, updating as Friday morning arrives in your local time zone, and it’s looking like a particularly lucrative week...
I like the new video segment and the suggested cars to use....

1. I used the Jimny XC. The most interesting part about this race was when a hair got stuck in my eye. Ouch.
2. I rarely get a chance to drive the R8, so I used it. It made quick work of the rest of the field.
3. I used my modified R32 GT-R (I think?) - It was very quick, but very skittish. Needs some tuning, I think.
4. I tried the Suzuki VGT, but it just doesn't have speed, so I had to use the Porsche VGT, it's quick in the straights but turns like a boat. Monza really sucks for this car.
5. Finally, I used the "Jaguar R22" (AKA the Toyota Super Formula '23) - I managed to no-stop it, just keep the fuel map in level 3 or 4

I had fun with the races today.
1. Jimmy Cup 4:29.9 (487pp) CRB
Weird, but once you get used to the handling you can string a decent lap together.

2. Schwarzwald League
Audi R8 4.2 5:50.5 (699.52pp) CRB
Well this car is a rocket… 🚀 was fun picking the different driving lines in the banked corners to see what works and didn’t work for punching out a lap time.

3. Skyline GTR - One Make
R32 GT-R Nismo 6:20.5 (804.68pp) CRB
First I tried to use a standard R34 like it suggested but got blown away with no straight line handling. So I went and got the 900hp beast and that was that.

4. Vision Gran Turismo Trophy
Mazda LM55 VGT 8:29.18 (838.20pp)
Playing in VR I think the Mazda LM55 has one of the coolest cockpits. I spun coming out of Ascari (too much curb)on the second last lap so I had to chase the leader down on the last lap. Good fun!

5. Super Formula
SF19 Honda 18.00.942 (937.61pp)
Didn’t know the track very well but once you get used to the cornering speeds of the Super Formula it was a good race. Stuck on some medium compound tyres and FM1, have at it. Once you’re out of the slipstream it’s hard to keep your lap times the same…. Then I found the push to pass button and did my fastest lap on the last lap 🤣 (1:46.5).

I got an ECU for the first prize, then a bunch of money 😎. Looking forward to next week. 👍

I have the day off so I had plenty of time to get these all done in one sitting (hard difficulty).

Grand Valley - Suzuki Jimny XC '18 - The car is modified from my previous attempts at these Jimny Cup races. Don't remember what I upgraded. It was probably enough to win, but I got held up a few times and only managed a P3. It was a close finish, though. First ticket obtained.

High Speed Ring Reverse - Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren '09 - Upgraded the tires to SS and applied the stage 1 weight reduction. That made for an easy win. Second box checked.

High Speed Ring - Nissan Skyline GT-R V•spec II Nür (R34) '02 - Couldn't use the safety car so I switched to the '02 GT-R instead. It took few tries to find the right modification level to have a good race. I ended up with sports-level upgrades, mid-speed turbo and sports intercooler, and RM tires. That put the PP level around 670. That got me fast enough a podium finish -- P3 -- just behind the lead cars. Another try and I think a win would be in reach. Anyways, good enough for the second ticket.

Monza - Audi e-tron VGT - The car was just slightly over the PP limit in stock form, so I added a power restrictor to get it under. For an EV, I rather like this car. Unlike many of the VGTs, it brakes well. It doesn't have the top speed of the Porsches or Genesis, but I could make up ground at the chicanes. I was in a battle with the Genesis for the final lap. When it pulled ahead out of Ascari, I figured I'd have to settle for P2, but it handed back the lead on Parabolica, which gave me the win. Fourth box checked.

weekly-challenge-202508w2-r5.webp

St Croix - SF 19 Super Formula / Honda '19 - I expected this to be harder. I ran a no-stop on RH tires. No fuel saving required. I was in the lead by lap 6. Final ticket obtained.

All-in-all a fun set of races.

I always try to use a car I haven't used a lot before...
Opposite of me. If I could, I'd run the same 2 cars in every race. In fact, I feel like GT should allow us to do so. Some sort of system where you could earn points that would allow you to then use them to get non-compliant cars into races (BoP applied, of course). I'd use my BAC Mono and LM55 and rule the universe.

I also find it interesting how everyone seems to have a different strategy for the F1 races. I always run RH with a no-pit strategy, usually FM6 unless it's obvious that I can run richer. Then it's just concentrating on good clean laps until everyone pits. I just hate the way RS tires fall off so quickly, and managing fuel.

The Skyline race is crazy. The AI opponents are basically racecars on Sport Soft tires. I couldn't get a win in the 400R until I upgraded it enough to reach 200mph on the banking...

I agree , the list of cars to use is very short, they go fast and furious and without " meaning " .

On the other hand ,i find the other one with the german cars way more interesting and also quite profitable for those who need credits.
Way more cars to use and don't needed to be pushed to the bone in order to win .

MICRO TRANSACTIONS! What do you mean you don't want to tune your car? Those Nissan designers created an imperfect machine, and you have to improve it.

650PP was not enough for me to get a win in the 400R, so it'd be interesting to see the actual tune for the car that was used.

Are these races affected by the difficulty setting? Because I'm playing on Hard.
What tyres were you on? I ran a Group A build which on RH is around 655 PP and won pretty easily on hard.
