Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Namyang Style

More new Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are becoming available to players around the world, bringing a fresh set of five challenges — including some using content from the recent 1.63 update — to take on over the next week as your local clock ticks into Friday morning...
No Purple???

Pretty sure knowing our Purple admin writer type thing, its there somewhere...

Decent week with another couple of new races. Japanese 4WD Challenge is extremely easy, won by 18 seconds with a stock Evo 9 so I'll be interested to see how slow people can go and still win. Historic Sports Car Masters is the opposite because the Countach LP400 is really fast and starts up front. Went with a stock 512 BB and managed to win after a few tries without ABS. Hard car to get stopped in the tunnel but was a lot of fun sliding it out of the corners elsewhere. Still hate that version of Grand Valley but it was at a nice time of day. One-make wasn't too difficult with a stock Elantra, the AI aren't very quick at Watkins and despite them being on SS tyres they don't seem that fast in the corners. I think the biggest thing that slows them down is they rev the cars far too high. VGT Trophy at Nurburgring wasn't that interesting, partially because I had the slowest field possible with all the fast cars starting at the back. Not the greatest fan of the GP circuit but it at least gave me a change to try the Italdesign VGT out. WTC 800 however is quite difficult as the AI often wont pit and the pace variance between races is quite big. Fastest field I had needed 1:43 or lower with a full pit stop to win, had no chance of doing that with the car I picked so I went again with the Ford GT LM Race Car and won running low 1:46 every lap, difference was I only needed to pit for tyres. AI struggles near the end with some cars on completely worn out left fronts, never saw any rain so not sure if it's possible to get it.

38-2025.webp

1. To begin the week, I used an evo (The 2015 one, I think?) which I made to be a rally car. Not much to say.
2. Next, I used a Sierra Cosworth (One of my personal favourite fords) - Aside from a spin on the final lap, it was pretty easy.
3. For the Elantra one make, I chose to try and recreate an Elantra TCR, What I got mostly worked, but there's still some gearbox changes that needed to be done.
4. For the VGT Championship, I used the Lamborghini Vision Gran Turismo. If anyone knows how to make this thing handle more sharply, let me know as this thing just loves understeer.
5. Finally for WTC800, I used the 787B. I went in on lap 9 for new tyres, but no fuel, as the 787B still had nearly 30 laps thanks to my fuel saving. Luckily I got no rain this time.

For the VGT race I used the Lambo VGT. I won, but it isn't a fun car to drive, at least not here. The handling is terrible at higher speeds and by the time the car really gets going you have to brake again. It feels like a bull in a china shop round the Nurb GP.

Selections for this week's challenges:

RAV4 on snow is definitely a hoot. Will keep this as a rally car for single player dirt and snow races.

Of course I have to bring out my Porsche bias on this event. Carrera RS is a joy to drive.

Elantra N tuned to 700 pp on Racing Mediums to get this over with quickly. 1:11 lap time.

Too lazy to find a VGT, so I just nuked the event with my harbinger of destruction called the LM55 VGT in its uncorked form.

The R.S. 01 has always been my reliable 800 pp steed while still blending in the GT3 crowd.

NO rewards for me again, for the third time since they implemented the weekly challenges, hopefully PD fix this issue soon, the only reason I play the challenges is for extra credits! Bummer!

There's two known ways to trigger this issue:

  • Access the game from more than one time zone on the same account (whether changing zones on your own console or logging into someone else's)
  • Still be engaged with the previous week's events when they switch over to the new ones.

It'll affect the current week and sometimes the next week too, but should return to normal afterwards.

@Grand_Tourist Where did you get the livery for the Elantra from? Did you create it? It is awesome
It's my own creation, thank you for the compliment 🙏. If you want it, just type in Elantra Neon as search title in the livery searcher. I shared it online. My nick name is also Grand Tourist in GT7.

Massive differences in AI behaviour, and even the line-up, in the historic race. The slower run was full of opponents on a leisurely cruise side by side while the Countachs were absolutely flying at the front, and the faster one was a matter of passing everyone and then making a run for it.

Edit: My selections for tonight:

View attachment 1483169

Japanese 4WD Challenge 600: Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. The Monster Energy machine returns and despite the AI seemingly doing its best, I had too much reflexes and managed a clean race Bonus.
Historic Sports Car Masters: Ford GT40 Mark 1. Its basically a cheat code for these races, can't think of another old Road car that is this easy to go fast yet do it so leisurely at the same time (With no racing slicks or TCS either)
Vision Gran Turismo Trophy: Lexus LF LC Vision Gran Turismo. While the newly added Opel Corsa GSE VGT is a viable option too, this tends to just gel with me more.
World Touring Car 800: BMW Mclaren F1 GTR Race Car. Was shocked that fuel use wasn't even the issue and I wasn't exactly cruisin'. Less surprised that tire wear was though.
Hyundai Elantra N One Make: As predicted, untouchable. Yellow car with a Fruity tune? Didn't look so formidable when I showed up with my car.

100% Hardest difficulty with only the Historic Sports Car Masters yielding no CRB (because Mr Lambo just HAD to brake check me on the last lap of what was otherwise an effortless race)

Seems like there've been enough changes to the physics since I last used the Lexus LF-LC GT VGT insofar that I actually had to tinker with the ECU and ballast to get it under 850 PP, as I don't remember having to do so for previous rounds of the VGT Trophy that I've done. Ah, but the result was still the same, where I just steamrolled the competition with it.

What I used, the Opal and Elantra are new cars to me.

Mine is stock everything so all I did is one click down on power and its right beneath the limit (849.23 I think?). I first noticed it when one of the weekly challenges was VGT Trophy at Monza.

The new Opel similarly just needs about 3 clicks down on power to get it at about 847. Alot less work to get those compliant then most VGTs.

Sorry to hear this.

I would assume you have uninstalled the game, restarted and then reinstalled the game, I don't know what else to suggest, I don't think they are contactable either.
