Used the old fashioned yet effective slow-in fast out method:

Ran on Sport Hards.

What do they dub it as in German - Wunderbar Hans? 🤣
Hehe, "Wunderbar Hans" would translate to "Wonderful John" while "Great Scott" would be "Grossartig Schotte" :)
So who is Scott? And what makes him so great?
I am Scott, and I'm so great because I absolutely rock all those Weeklies :P

But seriously, here's the (abbreviated) explanation from CoPilot which is much better than what I could come up with:

***

The expression “Great Scott!” in the original version of the movie "Back to the Future" has an interesting history:

“Great Scott” is an English exclamation that existed long before the film. It dates back to the 19th century and was a euphemistic form of “Great God!” – in other words, a milder, less religiously offensive variant. The expression became popular in the Victorian era and appeared in literature and comics (e.g., in early Superman comics).

Dr. Emmett Brown (Doc) is an eccentric character who comes across as both educated and somewhat old-fashioned. The screenwriters wanted to give him a distinctive but not vulgar way of expressing himself. “Great Scott!” was a perfect fit because:
  • It sounds dramatic and exaggerated, which fits Doc's personality.
  • It avoids modern swear words that don't fit his character and the family film genre.

Cant wait for the spec 3 weeklies with more races, there's often not enough interesting races given the car roster it could be much better... jeep races...again! hiss!
Not sure about more races in the weekly challenges. From what I remember from the mockup in the trailer, they were replacing one or two of the slots with circuit experiences and missions (which we've already done but will now be re doing). So instead of recycling 4 races, they will now recycle 2 races, a mission and a circuit experience instead. Which is, admittedly, still better than what we have now.

Albeit they will no doubt include the circuit experience for the two new tracks in the first months. And we might get some new missions with Spec 3.

I'm not complaining about there being continuing support in year 3 though, just think that people need to keep expectations on the Weekly Challenges lower than what they seem to be.

Maybe we’ll finally see every track and its variations used.
Oh no, not the WTC900 at Spa again...

Anyway, thanks for posting that, albeit it's just a placeholder but as I said it's certainly looking to be better than what we have now.
I got the new time trial mixed up with a recycled circuit experience - apologies.

In the end game, with a game as service model should weekly challenges have low expecations? that and the multiplayer are all the fruit left on the tree. Motorfest does better weeklies (usually). I think GT is hamstrung unnecessarily. Why not use use the variety it oozes? There is no need to be repeating car types in a game with so many available. Proof is in the pudding... GT currently 580 hours / Motorfest 1450 hours... engagement is tickled by variety.

It might take some players time to adjust though. If we still get bottom barrel 3* tickets and Richard Roundtrees, it'll be business as usual.

WTF!?? Oh no! I gonna have to buy my cars myself then, as I absolutely suck in the missions - in GT Sport the missions were great fun, but in GT7 this "uh oh, please don't touch another car and please don't drive more than two centimeters beyond the road"-thing completely corrupted the whole story IMHO. I mean, after all, GT7 is not motorsport, it's still a game, and should be enjoyable as such - hardcore racers have ACC. Same thing with the circuit experience - what is supposed to be funny about racing down a part of an empty track like a monkey on cocaine?

It's probably time for me to buy me a PS5 and move over to FH :)

EDIT: Sorry for being that negative, it's just I'm one of those wishing back "the good old times"...

I agree totally. They should make much better use of the content available. We should not have to have low expectations for the weekly challenges. But I still think people will be disappointed if they get hopes up too high for the new version. That's just the pessimist in me and I hope I'm wrong!

And I'm like you. I just do 3or4 races in GT7 each week for the weekly challenges, buy a car with the cash, and switch off. I spend much longer in Motorfest, and in The Crew 2 which I'm playing on Series S and my second string account on PS4. Even if that Lowrider race on TC2 last week was impossible to win stock

The ones in the preview image don't currently exist in the game though...

offtopic - out of interest: How does Motorfest compare to Crew 2? From What I've heard it's pretty arcady. I mean, I don't mind an arcady drive feeling such as with NFS or DriveClub, but I absolutely hate a too arcady presentation, such a fireworks in every race, cheering mobs besides the track, video cut scenes like in NFS Heat or Grid legends, "cool" moderators like in Dirt 5 or Gravel, this kind of stuff.

It drives better, but needs a couple of steering adjustments in the options. Physics has just been improved for year 3, and it has made the lower-tier cars more nuanced. Its arcade in style but it has all the fidelity in the gameplay that makes it exceptionally fun to master (took me by surprise after crew 2). It has some cut scene/voice over cheese, all skippable never watched one myself, options allow you to turn off the crap. Im like you cant stand that trying to be cool for the kids stuff thankfully it's not in the way, motorfest leans more towards being vibrant, and has some good car culture in it.

Tried two cars for the Suzuka race:

The Bugatti remains to be the best handling Gr.1 car. It has the rotation of the 908 but with the traction of the base LM55. Problem is, it's a gas guzzler, and in that race, it was merely cloudy. I was easily overtaking the A.I. cars. I ran on FM1 on Mediums, short shift at 6.5k rpm and then on Lap 6, 6k rpm with lift and coast. I boxed in and got a new set of Softs and drove like a madman.

SF19 is a no-brainer.

I'll do a rerun on Mediums on this one, though, since the Softs were easily being eaten up. 🤔

Both runs were done on Hard difficulty, and both cars ran on FM1.

My performance during this set of weeklies has been rather underwhelming to say the least. I've only come out with 3 out of 5 victories but boy, have I worked my ass off for the ones I only got P2 and P3!!! All in all, a mix of several frustrating moments spiced up with some exciting battles.

Japanese Clubman Cup 550 – Tokyo Expressway
Thankful for the chance of bringing out of the garage one of my first acquisitions in GT7, a cherry-red Integra Type R, tuned to the recommended 550PP. I love everything about this car; plus Tokyo at sunset was the perfect backdrop for our meet-up since our last time together.

European FR Challenge 550 – Brands Hatch Grand Prix
Took out my Aston Martin DB5 tuned at 550PP and made an effortless but joyful ride in the late afternoon right on time for my date at the bar. Shaken, not stirred.

Special Event – Red Bull Ring
I get no love from driving this e-cars, but at least the sound and handling of my slightly tuned Hyundai Elantra N is bearable. Easy win. Off to the next event.

WTC600 – Road Atlanta

For f... sake!!!! How is this race so difficult!!! Granted, being a fairly average virtual driver coupled with the fact that I have, for the last 2 weeks, run all the events at 'hard' difficulty level, was the recipe for some die, rinse, repeat a la The Edge of Tomorrow, but it's ridiculous how the top bunch launch on the straights while, for the most part, park the cars in the middle of the chicane and certain turns. As others have already mentioned, it's no small feat to catch up with the rabbit 25 seconds behind with only 5 laps to go, but as soon as I grounded my expectations and focussed on a top 3 finish, I actually started enjoying the close racing and tried a bunch of different cars, all tuned to 600PP.
My best two results came with a Toyota 86 GRMN (P3) and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR (P2), both of them on Sport Medium tires, although I never could run a lap below 1'30" in any of them.

The race with the Toyota 86 was particularly full of big moments; a dive 3-wide into turn 6 and a last-stand defense of my hardly fought P3 at the last chicane, when a wolfpack came like crazy after me on the back straight.

Gr.1 Prototype Series at Suzuka
I never stood a chance on this one, as I got to run it on dry weather. Besides, the level of aggression of the AI cars took me surprise, as I didn't remember them being so adamant to ramming everything on their way, just to keep their lines. This resulted in far too many tries to finish this race.
I wanted to stick to a Gr.1 car, so I tried my trusty 900PP Porsche 919 as it's one of the prototypes with good-enough in-cockpit visibility (the reason why I can't drive the Toyotas or the Audis). Racing Soft tires and full blast FM1 for a 1-stopper at lap 5. Unfortunately the Peugeot was P1, out of my reach some 15 seconds ahead after all pitstops and just had to settle for P2, avoiding any costly errors on the last lap to keep the 3s gap to the car behind me while riding on worn out tires.
