"Hermann" blitzed through Yas Marina and practiced his tire management skills.

And no, this is clearly not a manifestation for the weekend.

(Hard difficulty)
I used the 😮 emoji on your post because you usually slaughter those races and this was pretty close.

My plan was (and still is) the exact same as yours. Driving Franz Hermann in a stock 296 GT3 on hard difficulty. But now I worry that winning will be impossible for me. We will see.

A ten lapper in GT3 ob Yas Marina sounds spectacular either way however.

Because the A.I. is massively spread apart by 40 seconds between the leader and you, and the fact that it has low tire and fuel modifiers, which means they won't stop save for a few who ran on Softs (Yas Marina is a notorious tire-shredding track).

I put on a turbo upgrade on mine, then still ran on Hards and even with default suspension and differential setup.

I had to add the turbo to the 9X8 HDi for many of the Gr. 1 races as well in order to win with the appropriate machinery. Guess I will have to do this here too. Thanks for the heads up.

First week of the new Challenges and Spec III, turned out to be quite interesting. Japanese FF Challenge is a new one so I figured I'd use a new car, stock FTO was really nice to drive and easy to win with. Silvia Sisters requires quite a bit above the recommended PP level so I went with a swapped S14 that was around 600 PP, easy enough win and always a fun race in the dark at Deep Forest. Euro FF Challenge wasn't that interesting although the AI seemed reasonably quick given I was right at 550 PP with a stock BMW M2, still ended up winning by around 10 seconds. We got the first of the new challenges with the next event being one lap magic, wasn't a huge fan of having to wait 60 seconds but it was also so easy I won first try, anyone that struggles just remember to use the overtake all the time. WTC 800 was another new event and I hadn't driven Yas Marina in years so it took a few laps to get things figured out. Went with my fully tuned Dodge Demon and didn't pit using fuel map 6 most of the time and switching to 1 on the longest straights. Won on the last corner first attempt, AI really seems to struggle in a few places so you can make some easy passes around here. Track looks fantastic though and I like the layout in the right car, shame we don't have the short versions available.

Cars for this week:
full

Paragraphs please. But good first impression. I am looking forward to the 1 lapper and the new races.

No credits for the 1 lapper is weird. Probably an oversight. Interesting to see how it is going to be with the new challenge types in the coming weeks.

Interesting that the race time of the second place finisher is so different in both of your races. 19:13 here vs 18:57 in your Franz Hermann attempt. Is that just the normal Gran Turismo rubber banding?

yep, and a bit of luck when the AMG GT3 is the leading car piling up the front runners.

The 'Mission' event doesn't really fit with the Weekly format if I'm honest. Would've been better to keep it to a special race each week. From the Honda F1 at Watkins last week to this gimmicky rubbish (each to his own, but this stuff should be confined to the Missions section imo) is the first real flaw in the update methinks.

Maybe they intentionally deprived us of all of these great special races (DTM and Gr. C come to mind as well) in order to sell more Power Packs.

Time will tell, I suppose. The one-off races were always hit-and-miss, great ones like the JGTC/DTM/GrC series and the Honda F1, Supra, Viper, Civic ones, mixed with pretty mediocre 'promo' ones used to get people to use update cars many might probably not be very interested in (Avantime, Kangoo, 2008 etc).

I do think this mission with the Corvettes is a bit rubbish even as far as missions go, tbh, so there could be better stuff coming. But if anything with drifting or cones appears, I'm definitely OUT...

What was wrong with the Honda ?

Regarding the evolution of weeklies I find the idea of including some mission and TT stuff is a good idea, and for me will be an incentive to complete those (same goes for some events I did not complete yet that pop up as a weekly event)

1. The new FTO is a okay car for Japanese FF Challenge 450, nothing remarkable about the race, though.
2. Same with Silvia Sisters, Used the S15 I usually do.
3. I brought another Vantage V8, as I had tuned the other one. I honestly wish the V12 Vantage would be put into the game, as I think the V12 sounds far better than the V8 IMO.
4. I only got third (Barely missing second) on the one lap magic, I think I just didn't use the overtake mode enough.
5. I used my workhorse 787B for WTC800. It won, because it always wins. I brought the 296 GT3, might be worth a try next time?

A bit curious, will the AI slow down a lot after you pit? Now that you have a fresh set of rubber?

I had a bit of suspicion regarding the rubberbanding...
Nothing that I noticed on my first attempt, my only gripe is that they’re soo slow into the first chicane it’s a hazard.

Edit: the Ai times below, barely changed. Just consistent slow pace.

I am on Hard so that’s weird
It is.

When I did the run with the Espace, the AI suddenly got slower starting lap 4.

When I did the run on the 296, the M6 guy running on Softs was doing 1:53s.

I'll do an experiment tomorrow. I will put out my nuclear weapon that is the base LM55 VGT and see how fast the AI can get.

I disagree, I quite like the idea of getting a weekly mission of some sort. It's more fun than just a unique race.
