But... it is a one make, with a new car, so of course we need to buy it, they do it with all new cars.

It is not pay to win, at best it is pay to participate.

Don't you want to use the new cars ?

You cannot win if you cannot participate. So, in order to participate AND win you have to pay (with in-game money).

I know that PD makes this with most new cars, and I'm not complaining about it - I'm just saying it the way it is. What's wrong with being honest?

There's no 'pay-to-win' because you aren't spending anything real.
Buying cars in-game using in-game money to do in-game events isn't predatory pay-to-win mechanics. It's playing the game.

As I said before, my post was not meant as a complaint. It was just a little side statement. So it's not me mountaining out of a molehill!

Anyways, apparently I have hurt the feelings of a couple of players, so my apologies for that.

Could we please close that topic now?

IIRC I have bought two cars at most during the regular game campagn, licenses and missions. And even those were not really necessary for progressing. So yes, you could mostly rely on prize cars unless you do the Weeklies.

EDIT: My point is, I'm totally happy with buying cars in GT7 - as long as I can decide which cars to buy. Which is not the case when doing the Weeklies. But sure, you can argue that it is my free decision to do or not to do the Weeklies ;)

Well done. Seriously.

But you must know that's not how most people play the game. Buying a car for a one-make race, if you've not already been gifted it, isn't too much of an ask imo.

Except that is not what Pay-to-Win is. Pay-to-win involves real money to buy something with an actual sizable advantage in gameplay. This argument completely falls apart for the fact that:

  • There is no real money involved to get this car.
  • Because you're buying the same car competing, you aren't even given a significant advantage.

All you done is like so many, misuse a word to describe something.

Simple: That's NOT the way it is. You are confidently stating something that is factually wrong.

And additionally: If this is supposedly not a complaint, then why is this NOW a statement you make if you know this happens every time PD release a new update with new cars?

Even if the Pay part was accurate - and it isn't, as above - it'd be pay-to-play. Pay-to-win applies to things you can play for free but have to invest in to be competitive.

I have already apologized for potentially having offended certain people and won't do it again.

Pay-to-win, pay-to-participate, pay-to-play... put it like you want. You have to pay. And giving that in-game credits can be bought with real money, some people might even buy those cars with real money. And when grinding for it, you'll have to "pay" with part of your life time.

But nevermind, it's ok. I'm used to this sort of stuff.

Ok, fair enough. Since I haven't explicitly apologized yet for having created confusion: Really sorry for that!

As for your genuin interest: As I said before, buying cars that I want to buy, because I want to own that car, not just because I like to complete the Weeklies. I'm doing a lot of custom races where I need specific cars and sometimes also specific liveries and I need to tune them to reach a certain PP amount, which often involves swapping engines and/or many tuning parts. Expensive business. For example, for my "Tour de Corse" custom races I have spent several millions.

Furthermore, for me personally, it "feels" much better to win a car (or to get it gifted) than to buy it myself.

Nobody's offended, just weirded-out that you're using specific gaming terminology incorrectly as a justification for not liking something.

You don't have to justify not liking something. Just say that you don't. There's no need to borrow a term you heard/read somewhere and mash it into somewhere it doesn't fit.

Understood. However, since you're so into being as correct as possible: I never actually said that I didn't like anything. I just said that the current one is getting a hard week...

EDIT: ...and, unfortunately used those three words in an apparently misleading sense.
