My favorite American car for the American event.

964 "Turbo S" took care of its homegrown opposition.

Got gold on this. Rather easy, but teaches a good lesson on how Racing Softs do not solve all handling problems.

An R35 GT-R cannibalizing its kaiju brethren.

Thrustmaster's new recommended settings for the T598 did not work for me, personally. So I did some adjustments.

Same strategy as before. But massively improved times. Will try to see if the LM55 VGT (or the wonder EV Hyundai VGT) can touch this.

All on Hard difficulty.

Forgot to post this but early testing prior to the events being available only cemented the Toyota GR010 being the clear choice for this race. No need for conservation, just push as hard as possible until lap 12 (Just to go from worn Mediums to softs) and its as simple as that.

They have a bit more power than some of the prototypes, and I think a slightly better fuel efficiency (at least the Mazda does).
Most of the Group C cars in GT7 if not all definitively have better fuel efficiency than most of the other Gr.1 car / the prototypes. I would even say not only slightly but significantly. IIRC the Mazda has the best, but Porsche and Mercedes are also great.

The reason why I still mostly don't use them in the Gr.1 races is that I never win with them, I think they are slower than most of the prototypes when human players drive them. This is not true for the AI, though - AI-driven Group C's are pretty fast for some reason.

American Sunday Cup 600: Chevy Camaro ZL1. The GT4 tune is back and doing its thing.
European Clubman Cup 600: Mercedes AMG GT R. Another GT4 build back in the fold, feels like its kinda smoother somehow.
Nissan GT-R Cup: Nissan GT-R NISMO. Final time its used as I'll make a new dedicated build with the 2024 car, but this still was good.
Gr.1 Prototype Series: Toyota GR010 Hybrid. As always, can push for a while without worrying without fuel.
Time Trial: Easy (Once you realize those Racing Softs AREN'T gonna bail you out if you get it wrong)

An easy week, until it wasn't (hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202512w3-79-r1.webp

Road Atlanta - Ford GT40 Mark I '66 - I upgraded the tires to SS, which put is just under the recommended 600PP. Easy win.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-79-r2.webp

Alsace - Ferrari Testarossa '91 - Upgraded the tires to SS, and added a bunch of sports-level enhancements. That took the PP just over the 600PP suggestion. Another easy win.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-79-r3.webp
Brands Hatch - Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R '97 - This was just too easy. I put in a gold time on my first try.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-79-r4.webp

Deep Forest - Nissan R32 GR-R NISMO '90 - I upgraded the tires to SS, and added all of the sports-level enhancements, plus a mid-RPM turbo. It took me a couple of aborted attempts to figure out my brake markers, but I once I did, it was an easy win.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-79-r5-fail.webp

Yas Marina - Nissan R92CP '92 - Maybe this isn't the car for this track, or maybe I'm just not the driver for it. I tried a no-stop on RMs, but could only muster a P7 finish, some 40+ seconds behind the winner. Not sure if I want to try a different car or lower the difficulty level to normal. I'll definitely be going back and trying again, though.

And now I'm done...

Yas Marina - Nissan R92CP '92 - I tried again in the Nissan after lowering the difficulty level to Normal. Finished P2 on a no-stop RM strategy. Good enough for the final ticket.
Benchmark lap times for AI on Hard difficulty are at 1:45-1:46.

As long as you touch under 1:40, you'll be golden. Fuel is no issue, but you will really have to swap tires.

Quite an easy race, truth be told. The 800 pp one is much harder, IMO

The Group Cs at Daytona are a nightmare to deal with.

Their speed and efficiency are artificial, again to give this impression of difficulty. You know, PD logic.

My weekly races...
I didn't take any photo for the time trial and was slightly disappointed that it was for two sectors (read @Famine article after I did it...) and not the full lap.
Now for the remaining races from right side to left...
Gr.1 Prototypes at Yas Marina.
The Mazda LM-55 did an outstanding race on RM tyres at FM6 for a steady race pace for me and blew the CRB on track limit violations.
19b38e1293058-screenshotUrl.webp

Nissan GT-R at Deep Forest.
Hopped in the new Mines car with only SS tyres added and was a clean race with a CRB too.
19b38e1175666-screenshotUrl.webp

Euro Clubman Cup at Alsace.
Had used this Alfa 8C in the COTW lobby races Tuesday night and tuned it up and gave it SS tyres and had fun and passed the Merc on last half of last lap.
19b38e0fc7767-screenshotUrl.webp

Americans at Road Atlanta.
I used my copy of Jacky Ikyx's 1969 Le Mans winning GT40 and had a great time of it. The GT40 was tuned without a supercharger and had SS tyres also.

Saving all tickets for the end of the holiday ticket party.

Pretty straightforward week.
The FTO TT was easy. One try and Golded it. I even got caught off guard on the first turn thinking I had lots of grip and almost lost it. lol No pic because it's not my car anyway.
Gr.1 at Yas was also easy in the Mazda VGT. No stop on RH. It was over by lap 8 and won by over 50 seconds.
GTR was in my Kaido House 400R. Won by around 10 seconds.
Euro Clubman in a detuned Lancia Delta to keep it at exactly 600. Won by a handful.
American in a car I rarely drive and under 600 (596pp). Easy win by around 9 seconds.

Hey hey let me join in here in this pre Xmas week of new challenges. Maybe PD tried to be generous giving us four very enjoyable but easy races and a super easy but nuts TT. No need to say much about the races : I had four cool cars running for four wins and four bonuses, just like that, no big deal. The TT however ... I really had looked forward to it, I felt disappointed when reading here about the car being equipped with RS compound and all the disappointment turned into oops and disbelief when driving the FTO for the first time.
The good thing is such awkward tasks trigger my ambition and pull me in. And I don't think about getting gold or something anymore but how to master that vehicle in a way making me feel content. Tbh it took some time to reach that point and maybe I'll even return for a few more attempts. And seriously, could anyone please explain the driving physics behind because although having my suspects I don't think I really understand what's happening. 🙏

Road Atlanta - Ford Mustang Boss 429 '69 / SM / 330 hp / 1.264 kg / 580,15 PP

Have a good week everyone and if you struggle with a car, never forget ... Santa Clause is coming on a one horse open sleigh !

It was really easy to Gold the FTO
It took me less than 3 mins...

But if you want to do a decent good quick time
man the car stock but on RS for some reason is undrivable at the limit, dangerous even....
Either oversteer or under steer and then snap oversteer...

Gotta really smooth, which is not easy with the controller....

I am in the 46s with the controller, I don't know if I can get to the 45s with the controller unless I drive a hundred miles more or so ...

I Might give it a try later to see how I would fare with the sim rig and VR ..

I got into the 44s with my rig and VR. Once you learn where the oversteer kicks in you can take it back a notch and start abusing the track limits or lack there of.

It's weird that it's only one section of track and also you can't watch the top ten replays to see how they did it. So you gotta find the edge of the track yourself and just keep pushing.

The gold time should have been way lower though.

Second time through on my main account (ALL hard difficulty this time)...

My picks:
weekly-challenge-202512w3-78-picks.webp

weekly-challenge-202512w3-78-r1.webp

Road Atlanta - Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe '06 - Upgraded the tires to SS. Easy win.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-78-r2.webp

Alsace - Alfa Romeo 4C Gr.3 Road Car - Again, upgraded the tires to SS. Again, an easy win.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-78-r3.webp

Brands Hatch - Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R '97 - Another easy gold time.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-78-r4.webp

Deep Forest - Nissan GT-R NISMO '17 - The car was already sitting at 660PP. I don't remember what mods it had. Whatever they were, it made for another easy win.

weekly-challenge-202512w3-78-r5.webp

Yas Marina - HYUNDAI N 2025 VGT (Gr.1) - I was much faster in this car than I was in the Nissan. I ran a 10RM-5RS strategy, but I feel like a no-stop on RM would have worked just as well. I lapped a fair bit of the field before crossing the line for the win.

I have never been too fussed about improving my times on single player time trials in the game, usually grabbing the gold as fast as I can and getting out of there. But with this temporary (and unique) event, i really felt like using it as an opportunity to improve my technique.

"Unlearn what you have learned" - Old Jedi Proverb

I am still on my adjustment period (translation: in pure blissful joy!!!) having made the switch to the PSVR2 and having my eyes opened very wide, and now I am back to the rank of Padawan and ready to put in real practice everything I know about racing. So this week was my first Challenge set with the PSVR2 and, well, let's dive in!

1. European Clubman Cup 600 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT ’71; 600PP on Sport Medium tires: B-E-A-Utiful cockpit view!! Also, holy cow this track is so twisty and gotgrus in VR! The race itself was easy even on hard mode so nothing much to write about except the old Dino is always a joy to drive.

IMG_0235.webp

2. American Sunday Cup 600 - Ford Roadster; 599PP on Sport Medium tires: Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!! The OG school flathead V8 schooling the bratty baby boomers how it's done! Totally amazing VR cockpit view and the car itself after some tuning and messing with the gear ratios was awakened from its stock lethargic tune and even when it wanted to let loose the tires already were disclosing its intention and letting you stay in control. Fun classic never gets old!

IMG_0232.webp

IMG_0234.webp

3. Nissan GT-R Cup - Nissan Skyline GT-R GP-Tuned; 549PP on Sport Soft tires and engine swapped; Duel Of The Fates as the Original Trilogy Jedi Master battled it out with the unknown Force-user clothed in crinsom hues signaling it dark side nature, the field was full of force users but only these two were the ones with the training and will to endure, the dark sider with a swift advantage very early on due to an invisible force pulling him away from the Jedi Master, until our hero got pressed hard and got a sudden boost of Force Speed and Power that was hard to control, but nonetheless was able to catch and defeat the Sequel Trilogy and prove once more there is nothing better like the Original Trilogy Light.

IMG_0233.webp

4. Gr.1 Prototype Series - F3500-B; 949PP on Racing Medium tires: Ok, enough tales now, this one even though won with a no-pit run, this car sounds gloriously powerful!! Definitely it lets you appreciate how this track was made for insane downforce cars, and how deceptively long it is! Love this track more and more everyday, and the F3500B owns it marvelously. This one will try a couple of times with the Group C cars, see how they stack in this one. Lots of reruns opportunities on this one!

Yeah, VR definitely changes everything, I was pleasantly surprised when on the final laps on Yas Marina, I realized the front tires were worn out visually, such a small detail missed playing not the tv. If you can, get it, you won't believe you masterfully this game is in VR.

Totally agree. I pre-ordered GT7, got it at lunch and put it on the shelf after a month and went back to ACC. Got PSVR2 at launch and the GT7 VR update. Have not stopped playing it since. Literal game changer.
