More enjoyable than I was expecting this week. All completed on Hard difficulty without too much trouble...

This week's eclectic bunch:
IMG_1364.webp

Sunday Cup: Toyota S-FR '15 - CS Tyres, Aero, Mid Turbo, Custom Suspension. Tried first with a tuned Beetle, didn't go well. Then I remembered the S-FR, which I'd just built for some lobby racing, was quite nippy. Won with ease on its 1st attempt.

Euro FR 550: Detuned DTM BMW M3 Evo '89 on SS tyres. Tried the Heavy but powerful route with a Stock Z8, but couldn't get within a couple of seconds of 1st place. Pulled the pin on this favourite, and won on 1st attempt, though only by 0.14 seconds!

Elantra 'One-Make': Mid Turbo, SS tyres, weight reduction. Haven't used this since it's last Weekly Challenge 'One Make' outing, soon remembered why. The chronic wheelspin is hilarious, wouldn't want to own one! Dull race, easy win.

American Clubman 700: RS Rampage - RM tyres, Race brakes, Fully Custom G'Box and Diff. Tried first with the Ford GT '17 on SS tyres and max aero. Won, but only after an unfortunate crash at the end of the final lap, with the ridiculously fast C8, which left them in the gravel. Wanting to win fair, I had another go in the Rampage. Caught and passed the C8 on lap 3 and maintained a 3-4 second lap to the end.

GR1 Prototype: RB X2019 Comp - Stock +60kg ballast. FM3 all the way for an easy win. Pitted at end on lap 4, cruised home after taking lead on lap 8

6 Star Car Roulette won a black La Ferrari
4 Star Daily Marathon won Cr.500,000

Not a bad week!!

You used the Toyota FR-S Concept.
I always forgot that car is available in GT7.
I had played a lot with this car and also the Racing version in GT Sport.
Serious, I had never touched this car in GT7.

Used the Copen Speed 12 for race 1
IMG_1494.webp

Race 2 was nice in a stock e36(only had a livery applied)
IMG_1495.webp

Race 3 as @jad_morffier mentioned, that yellow car is super quick, couldn’t catch it with a stock car once it got to the front
IMG_1496.webp

Race 4… Seranno’s C8 is mega quick in a straight line, but good thing my C1 tune handles well up the mountain to take a clean victory
IMG_1497.webp

Race 5, I quite like this track, there’s a great flow to it once you know what to use for your track references. Used my Dodge 900pp tune on RM for a no stop strat and got the win! Was a fun race against the AI throughout, I’d repeat this with other car choices but think keeping it under 900pp makes it more fun

Quite nice, this week !

Race 1 Brands Hatch
After the Sunday Cup Classics two weeks ago I had my rusty Benz Barker Tourer still located at the BH paddock. So I decided to just take it to track again for another glorious victory.

Race 2 Red Bull Ring
Think there's no need to mention how much I love my old souped up ... . I really enjoyed making my way through the field little by little step by step - slowly but unstoppable.

Race 3 CGV
I didn't like it ! Although it's doable of course. After 20 years of playing GT, cars like the yellow Kang car still annoy me. It's not as obvious as with Gallo's GTAm or Serrano's C8, but it's the same pattern. Stupid ...

Race 4 Mt. Panorama
I had run this race coincidentally three days ago in a C8 gift car ( 650 PP upgraded ) without the slightest chance of catching up to Serrano. Today was payback day ! No merci, no Chase to hide for the man !

Race 5 St. Croix
I had my LM55 VGT set up already but decided to follow that suggest above to use the Hyundai EV VGT car. Curiosity ! A first time drive for me and for sure a pleasant one. Now, that's enough Hyundai for today though ...

My choices for this week.

Sunday Cup: Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 GT Sprint Veloce. Piece of cake as usual
European FR Challenge 550: BMW 3.0 CSL. Abit tricky, but doable.
American Clubman Cup 700: Ford Shelby GT350. Not even Serrano could escape me.
GR.1 Prototype Series: Peugeot 908 HDI FAP. So unbothered, I did this on easy JUST to get it over with. NEXT.
Special Event: Might be the car I had THE most fun with around this track.

The dumbest possible way to break a three CRB row in the fourth race - someone puts a car into the kitty litter when I'm half a car length behind another, already hard on the brakes with a 30 km/h or so speed difference, and no chance to avoid passing it just as the yellow flag comes out. An immediate three second penalty, 🤬 the AI once again.

Anyone else notice the European FR Challenge 550 is abit...BMW heavy? Surely that's more European cars that are at or slightly below 550 PP?

Yes! I tried several stock cars under 550 PP and the only two I could find that had a chance to get in front of Lopez was the M3 '07 and the Maserati Gran Turismo S

GR1 PROTOTYPE SERIES
My bad driving habit is I restart races... a lot. I wanted to try a different approach.

For this week's Gr1 race, I went with the slow, but my old favorite Alpine VGT. The first race was me trying to remember where everything was and to build speed. I flip flopped between a No Stop and 1 One Stop strategy. My blown out Racing Mediums made the decision for me:

GR1950 - Alpine - Results - 1.webp

Then came the improvement. No Stop, Racing Mediums, FM3, short shifting at half the rev bar - sometimes going to FM1 on the straightaway after the bridge.

GR1950 - Alpine - Results - 2.webp

Finally, 1 Stop, FM1, short shifting at half the rev bar. Racing Mediums

GR1950 - Alpine - Results - 3.webp

Assumption: In spite of the track length, this race is more suited to sprint builds. When I tried to fuel save, the loooooooooonnnnnnnngggggg straightaways were agony. My Alpine had terrible tire wear, but I aim to revisit this with Racing Softs. The pit stops were short too - perhaps under 30 seconds.

I suspect the Diesel Torque Monsters and the LM55 can ignore this and be fast regardless of strategy.

GR1950 - Alpine - 1.webp

USA CLUBMAN 700PP
I knew about the C8 - who probably is the only one actually tuned to 700pp, albeit a very, very silly build.

As always, I chose grip over power. I stayed at 700pp... for this time.
Am700pp - Ford GT 06 - 1.webp

I fully tuned and then detuned my Ford GT '06 for the 700pp Clubman nightmare race at Fuji. Victory was mine here, but the tune bothered me. I wondered if the Racing Brakes were worth the PP cost in ballast, ballast positioning and lower power.

No, they were not.

Am700pp - Ford GT 06 - Results - Fastest.webp

The car that had brakes was 1 second a lap slower. So either the PP system punishes brakes too much, or I just suck at braking and have been covering it up with tuning.

No, do not tell me the answer

Looking forward to the Elantra race!

Pretty straightforward week.
Started with the Elantra race for a warm-up. Went in with one of my trusty ones, 318hp on SS. Easy win and a CRB.
For the Gr.1 I went with my usual that has won this race, the LM55. No stops on RM. Easy 30 second win.
The Bathurst race called for one of my older go-tos, my Camaro with old SGV livery. 706pp on SS. Easy win over Josette.
For the Euro I drove a car I haven't used in months, '03 M3 on RH. It was over by lap 3.
Brands Hatch I just wanted to get it over with. Nations Cup Valkyrie was called up. Lapped them all once. lol
Won the Lambo VGT which I hadn't owned yet.

Serano"s Vette at 700pp MP is hilarious fast in straight line .
I started on a C14 car at 660plus pp .
Trying to manage CRB end up second but at least i get it and Serano was at 2.15 writing the faster lap.
Then in the search for other car i saw a Tomahawk VGT that was on SM tyres and i said : let's kill this guy .
I took CRB also and from curiosity i run the replay to see Serano's time .
Was at 2.06 !!!! , 10 seconds faster from the previous race .
Are you serious now ?
At La Croissant.....i don't wanna talk about it.
I regret i didn't lower the difficulty from hard .
Just managed to win cause they pit while i don't and pass the old C1 cars starting the last lap.
With 3.07 faster lap of mine i can't go anywhere 🤣 .
The 6* car brought a Nissan GT 16 that worth way less than 400k and i just keep it .

Am i try something again ?

La Croissant mmmmmmm....

Anyhow, the 950pp event can easily be cheesed by the base LM55 (or the 908) even on Hard difficulty. As you may have seen from my post above, I did 2:51 on Softs and FM1. 😈

I use also LM55 on RM and FM6 but i don't even think to dial with it again.
I noticed your time and results but am so slow 🤣
I'll never ever learn this track.

I completely understand. The track itself is rather complicated to learn, not to mention its numerous layouts that are long. But the C layout is perfect for Gr.1 cars.

But...

...right now my T598's power supply went kaput, just as I am already having the time of my life with the new 488 GT3 wheel. I sent it back to the store since it is still under warranty and will see what can they do about it.

Will probably try using other cars using a controller with motion steering.

My cars for this week:
all on hard difficulty

Sunday Cup: Stock Mazda Eunos Roadster '89. Only cosmetic upgrades. CRB✅

European FR Challenge 550: Tried it first with a Ferrari 500 Mondial '54 tuned to 540PP. Managed 2nd, 4s behind Lopes' M4. 2nd try with a stock M2 Competition '18 and got the win after taking the lead about halfway in the last lap. Decent race. CRB✅

American Clubman Cup 700: Ford GT40 Mark I '66 was to slow on the straights. Lost 4s on the downhill straight. Did not finish the race. Then went overboard. Maverick swapped Ford GT '17. 1200bhp, racing hards, 818PP. A handfull but rapid! CRB🚩

GR.1 Prototype Series: SF Toyota '23, racing mediums. FM1, pit end of lap 5. lap times of 3:00.xxx Easy win. CRB✅

One make race: Fully loaded Elantra, but threw out the turbo. Landed at 670PP-ish with racing hards. Not even close. Race was 2 laps to lang to be interesting 🤣 maybe i'll try it with less tuning to make it some closer racing... CRB✅

6* roulette gave me the Nissan GT500 '08, sold for 400K..
Daily marathon was 5* and got 100k

Pretty fun week with several reasonably easy races. Sunday Cup was simple enough with a stock Honda Fit, surprisingly fun to drive too. European FR Challenge is a little trickier with how quick the BMW M4 was but I was also in one so ended up winning by a few seconds, like this race because it can rain a bit. One-make is tricky if the yellow Elantra gets in the lead early, for me he didn't so I was able to keep him behind as I got to the front, just have to be aggressive over the curbs to gain some time. American Clubman Cup is a hard race because of how much faster the C8 Corvette is, he was running 2:13 laps for me so I went with a stock Ford GT '17 and won by a few seconds, have to make the best of how slow the AI is across the mountain. Still a lot of fun to drive especially as it gets dark. Gr.1 was quite easy, I think this race got easier over several game updates and most of the AI just aren't that quick and pit on lap 7. Gr.1 2025 Hyundai VGT was more than enough and a bunch of fun to drive as I enjoy this track quite a lot, although I think I prefer it in the other direction.

Cars for this week:
full

Feeling much better these days and thus I put some effort into this week's races.

In the Hyundai 2025, had to pit at end of 6 for petrol, the Jaguar pitted at end of 7 and i caught and passed in final lap.

Mach Forty at Bathurst, just minor tuning with suspension and brakes, that C8 is fast on the straights but i had him beat in the twistys.

Days of Thunder (1990)

[During a pit stop]

Harry Hogge: All right. While we're still under a caution, I want you to go back out on that track and hit the pace car.

Cole Trickle: Hit the pace car?

Harry Hogge: Hit the pace car.

Cole Trickle: What for?

Harry Hogge: Because you've hit every other goddamned thing out there, I want you to be perfect.

The Hyundai VGT can do as well and keep good speed. I also think the Corvette VGT Gr.1 can do it but not sure how the tires will fare

What I used, it didn't look like I had used the Alpine VGT before as it only had a couple of miles on it, I had not used the Wicked GT51 before either, each track used was one of my top five most hated tracks! I won a car that is no use to me as it doesn't have an interior so cannot be used in VR.

If there's one car among my "GT7 starter cars" that I still use every now and then, it's the 2017 Ford GT. @rheinaoi 's post yesterday brought it to my mind again and I wanted to dare a second attempt against Serrano anyway with something more normal after my demonic revenge run.
My GT's set to 700 PP, she's got a very very old ( slightly tweaked ) Praiano setup that still works pretty well though after so many physics changes. She's fast she's safe and a true pleasure to drive.
