Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Xiaomi the Money

We’re just about at the end of January now, and right on cue the final set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges for the month, starring some of the new game content in the 1.67 update, are now available to players as their console clocks roll past midnight and into Friday morning...
Great pun!

So basically, I can drive this like I did that event in the Ferrari 296 GT3: Max push, no conservation.
Yep. And get anything lightweight. You can do a no-stop on Mediums. A Gr.2 car on Mediums would make this a walk in the park.

But if all else fails, the base LM55 will more than happily do the task.

My weekly choices were as follows, and as always I followed the rules of each event and matched the tyres to whatnthe ai use, on Hard Ai while using PSVR2;
Screenshot_20260130-013317.webp

  1. 380pp Comfort medium tyres BMW i3 - really fun car despite its middling speed, it's propensity to want to slip makes it a lot of fun, and at least the power is more than manageable unlike some of the cars like the SU7.
  2. 600pp tuned Sport hard tyres Polestar 5 - again another shockingly nice and well planted machine! I much prefer driving this over the SU7 despite the SU7's immense power and top end advantage, though I did have to cut the track the first two laps to keep up with the stupid overpowered Alfa Giulia
  3. Fully tuned Xaiomi SU7 ultra on Sport Softs - this thing was a bloody handful, it's complete lack of any meaningful noise made it hard to gauge my speed, at least the other EVs I chose actually has some auditory experience to them that wasn't the begging of my tyres for mercy
  4. Skoda VGT on Sport Softs - usually this car is on racing mediums - but the ai only go as far as racing hards (due to the Vulcan) but I thought to match the Valkyrie's sport softs instead - turned out to be a great decision as it made this car feel so much more alive and fun to pilot, did get the lead pretty quickly though haha... Oh well
  5. Audi VGT with Racing Hard tyres - do take note this is the EV version and this thing has the 2nd best Ev range...a distant second compared to the Hyundai VGT, but I wanted to challenge myself and went with the Audi...did pit on lap 6 and might have stayed too long recharging the battery, which made the final stretch UNBELIEVABLY CLOSE as the leading Ferrari 296 GT3 ran out of fuel on the final corner, and I just had enough acceleration to get past them before the finish line, giving me the win!

800 pp easy no pitter for me accidently spun over a lap car during the 8th lap after a turn lol, the hypercar was too close to my liking with Beavouis going super sayain at the end of 2nd and 3rd lap, not a fan of the electric car at all drove like someone put butter on the wheels, euro race simple, so was the sunday cup with a good handling car.

Surprised with a few challenging races this week. Sunday Cup is harder than you'd think, used a stock '15 MX-5 and only won by a few seconds, they also changed the UI so we don't get the weird squished font now. Clubman Cup has the nuclear Alfa and if he gets in the lead before you do and your car isn't insanely fast it's game over. Feel like this race is harder than it used to be, had to run 2:14 or faster to even have a chance of winning. One-make was quite easy given you can use unlimited overtake, even without it's not that hard, would be interesting to see if it's possible on SH instead. Hyper Car Parade is also quite difficult because the Valkyrie is so much faster, again if it gets in the lead before you do it's very hard to win as it'll happily lap under 3:25. Just about got there with the Corvette CX Concept on SH, although I had to use a bunch of overtake to get a gap for the last sector. WTC 800 is easy enough, all the fast AI are on RS and pit and the rest are slow enough it's easy to win with tuned road cars. Shame it's not at a more interesting time of day but that track is always fun.

Cars for this week:

05-2026.webp

I've been trying to focus on trying new cars, so four of them, I haven't driven before.

1. The Levin 1600GT (Middle) is the first car this week, nothing much to say, it's basically the same as any other AE86 based car.
2. Next up was the Alfa Romero Giulia GTAm, this car is a bit of a handful, understeers out of the hairpin's next corner, and likes to drift too much.
3. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is pretty quick, but understeers at speed, like most EV's. It's especially bad coming out of T18, where it's pretty frequent to have to slow down to avoid bashing the wall.
4. I recently brought an Enzo, so I thought I would use it in hypercar parade. The first attempt didn't go great, as I quit after lap 1, as it was very understeery IMO, I put softer tyres on, which made it way easier, but I couldn't quite outrun the Aston Martin Valkyrie, so I had to settle for second.
5. Finally, the only car I actually do drive fairly frequently, the Mclaren 650S GT3. It makes me wish that they'd put in the 720S GT3. I thought I would hate this race, as it's on Mount Panorama, which is a race track I dislike, but because there's no damage enabled, all I really did was just outlast the other drivers by sticking it on map 3.

5 out 10 I'd say for this weeks selection. Not very inspiring, but all were won on Hard difficulty with relative ease.
I give you this week's team...

Sunday Cup: Highly Modded Super Carry, SH Tyres. Street of Willows, is a very looong way down on my list of favoured tracks. Small and light always seems to work best here, and the Carry does that well. 1st at second attempt.

Clubman Cup 600: Radical SR3 (SR8/Engine swap) SM Tyres. Tried with both a highly tuned 512BB and Cayman both on SS tyres, but could only manage 3rd then 2nd. Opted for my 'Cheat Code' Radical in a bid for the win. On attempt 1, I caught and passed the front runners, but only as Gallo, in the overpowered Giulia, was also doing so, and I couldn't pass him before the end. Second attempt was more successful as he got held up in traffic.

Xiaoma One Make: They say "You can't polish a turd, but you can make is sparkle with glitter." Well, this thing needed a lot of glitter! It feels like they've put all the batteries in the front and rear bumpers(fenders) as the handling felt terrible. It took me several attempts, and some tuning to make it driveable, to adapt. Best change was restricting the power.

Hypercar Parade: Aston Valkyrie - Stock. If you're going Hyper, go Full Hyper! Destroyed the field with ease, even the other Valkyrie in the field, which was disappointing. Note to PD if you're reading (I'm aware this is HIGHLY unlikely): Neither the FXX nor Vulcan are 'Road Legal' from the factory and therefore not 'Road Cars'

WTC 800: Audi RS5 DTM - Detuned, RH tyres. Even the new Porsche 992 GT3 was no match for the mighty DTM RS5.

My picks for tonight's races, had to put in abit of work for the last one as I have a feeling that default handling was gonna give me Polestar 1 flashbacks so I have built my second ever EV Track machine.

Sunday Cup: Honda S660. Not the biggest fan of this layout already but in reverse too? Easy mode just to get it out of the way.
European Clubman Cup 600: Porsche 911 GT3 RS '16. Debut of my Cup car build (with a different livery) and its spectacular.
Hypercar Parade: Ferrari Fxx K. Said my piece about this track already last week but thankfully no difficulty adjustment required.
World Touring Car 800: Porsche 991 GT3 R. Reminds me abit of the Ferrari 296 GT3 (Even the squirrely nature as the tires reached the end of their life)
Special Event: Another EV at Deep Forest...and my work did nothing to stop the frustration. By itself lapping, not terrible once you figure out its...quirks, but in race trim against the AI it gets annoying.

That Sunday cup is Freddie Kruger on willow Street.
At least at hard level that i try it .
Pd somehow mess up things as i see it .
I try yesterday the 600pp new race at Green hell and they have inside the Xiaomi on SS tyres !!!
You need to put 200kg ballast ,power at 70 and comfort tyres in order to bring it at 600pp that they ask for.
Are you serious now ?

Anyway the race that drive me nuts was at Suzuka that i couldn't get the CRB .
I try first the marvellous @CTRL Garage alfa but ok , i went wide on the hairpin and i lost it.
I use next the favourite Porsche or @ROCKET JOE at 650 pp but seems a very light touch with one AI cost me the CRB .
Third time in a row i pick the Giulia at 660plus pp and i really don't know where i lost it .
So it's still a question that remains unanswered..

On the contrary i took CRB at Croissant!!!! Hard level and of course i use the Valkyrie.
I promise it won't happen again at least this year 🤣
For MP i use a non stop car TSO 030 to cool down my system from Suzuka but still i have to answer the question...

I did the Suzuka race with the Porsche Turbo S again, however, this time detuned to 600 PP. Not an easy thing ! Needed two attempts because Gallo escaped too early in my first run, the second was successful. Both races were clean with CRB.
There's been other occasions though in other races that made me wonder why a bonus was given, or not !

I enjoyed the 2000 SUX at Sainte Croixe(oh wow, that’s big news ). I only used weight 1, custom suspension, Racing rotors and RH. Finished second about 12 seconds behind the Valkyrie. I think I can keep P1 with minimal weight and RS. Might build another one with the Nurb parts.
This car and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 remind me of modern Saab 900s. They’re quirky and nothing else look like them on the road. Anyway, I’m having fun.

This week's results:
Sunday Cup-I wanted to get it over with. Haven't done this layout since we last had this race. Went out in this AM that I don't think I've ever driven.
Euro Clubman-Same story, get it over with and kill that Valerio. lol Pol Urra took care of that in the Valkyrie.
Hypercar in the same car that has won this several times before, my trusty FXXK. Same story as past, overtake the Lambo then Beuvois in his Valkyrie goes crazy on lap 4. Won by around 5 seconds.
Xiaomi race is too long. Hate that car. Took out my modded one on RS.
Took out the new Porsche for the WTC800. No stopper on RH. Good battle with Josette in the last two laps as he too had the 992. Won by 5 seconds.

A lot of work to do in this game lately.

Enjoyable work though - and the biggest part of it is finished now. The new circuit experience is still untouched but the cars are aquired, the races are run and won.
Since the new events that came with the 1.67 update were quite similar partly to this week's WCs ( or even the same ) I did some sort of car sharing. Here's how the WCs went ...

1 - Streets of Willow ( reverse )
I know we've been there before but honestly, I didn't remember very well. Wanted to do this with my Honda N-ONE but the starter setup was 380 PP and I just couldn't reach Lin's Corolla. So it took 5 attempts all in all while upgrading the car to a final 410 PP to take the win.

WC_260130_B1.webp

2 - Suzuka
One car one setup for this event and the new WTC 600 at Nürburgring Nordschleife : Picked the 911 Turbo S again, detuned to 600 PP. Had to settle with P2 in my first run because Gallo got through early, I've been luckier then in the second race. The WTC 600 was a cakewalk btw.
WC_260130_R2.webp

WC_260130_B2.webp

3 - Deep Forest
Well, this went as expected ... not smooth not easy but ok. At least I had the feel as if I drive the car, even on stock tires ... and not vice versa. My biggest weakness here is the sound. Or the lack of it. I really have a hard time judging things without hearing an engine revving up and down. Guess I better get used to it soon.
Sidenote : Initially I had thought to use the SU7 at Spa too but switched to my Espace F1 swapped Megane Trophy. Had a blast with it.
WC_260130_R3.webp

WC_260130_B3.webp

4 - St. Croix C
When I realized Beauvois starting only two spots ahead of me I knew it would be an easy win. I had passed him shortly after that first right hander and I never saw him again. The RUF CTR3 I used isn't a sweet dream to drive, by no means, but if you've got the hang of it, it's really fast and reliable. 790 PP. A great car.
WC_260130_R4.webp

WC_260130_B4.webp

5 - Mt. Panorama
What can I say : Love the track, love the car, hate the AI. They'll never learn when to back out ... Ran two attempts here, not for the win but for the bonus. That second run was my masterpiece regarding patience and generosity lol ! It's a no stop race with the 800 PP Lexus VGT on RH tires, no fuel saving needed.

Good luck everyone !

How did you find the 911 GT3 R?

I went with max fuel RM's until the end of lap 7 then fuled till the finish with RS's.

I need some help with the 911 GT3 R and it's lift-off / breaking oversteer I have managed to take some of it out, but that top section at Mount Panorama was a killer with the stock tune, lift-off the accelerator and it just wants to spin out at the rear, more so if you brake.

I'm such a bad pilot. Impossible for me with the new Porsche, I cheated with the xjr, and that was too easy, FM1, no pit, on hard, I could have used medium, every lap under 2 min.
My testimony for those who love grass ^^

I ran the new Porsche completely stock for the WTC 800 at Mount Panorama. Good challenge with fuel, tire wear and CRB to think about.

I don't recall ever getting into the 2:01s here in other stock GT3 cars. Especially in a race with no slipstream. Is this a fast car or are the track conditions fast? Or both?
I did the same last night although with a very oversteery setup which cooked the tyres, agree that the car just seems fast as it was pretty easy to run low 2:02 even in traffic on RH. After I tried a few setup tweaks and dropped down to high 2:00 laps, should give the race a go a again with the HUD off given it all shows up on the screen in the car. One and a half laps on map 3 meant I could do the rest flat out on map 1, so easy to save fuel across the mountain and not lose time and with less oversteer the tyre wear isn't bad either.

well done guys, been trying that event with that car and it has not been easy. Spent my attempt yesterday losing the car on acceleration out of turns. Today was better, did not lose the car once, but my best lap is around 2'07, too slow to catch the rabbits in front, especially with the moving chicanes that are slow as heck in the downhill section. I wanted a clean race so I did not bump them but it was very tempting.

New cars, new update, new weekly races...
Working from the hard to easy....

WTC800 at Bathurst, grabbed my Gr.2 Audi and even got the CRB!
19c164a1bb117-screenshotUrl.webp
Hypercar parade at St Croix. I used the SU7 and almost had it until the Valkyrie caught me on last lap...
19c164a0bfd38-screenshotUrl.webp
SU7 one make. I learned that A) it has little rolling resistance. B) will understeer under acceleration so take yer foot off the pedal and coast through the turn. C) even with TC set to five it will still spin the tyres if you break traction so don't stomp on the gas out of turns.
19c1649f69d79-screenshotUrl.webp
Euro Clubman Cup with a stock Tuscan with SS tyres.
19c1649e8ba34-screenshotUrl.webp
Streets of Willow in reverse is not a track i ever go to and thus i had a hard time of it in my Toyota 2000GT when i didn’t know where I was going. I chose to quit before the finish line 3 times before i was satisfied with my drive and even then it was close...
