“…But I have patience and experience. A man can do anything if he has those."

What I used, two new cars for me the RX7 and Renault are of course new for me, but I am not sure if I had won with the 911 or GTO before, I have now.
The RX7 has the 787B engine, I used RH and lowest fuel map and did a no stop race.
Silver was the best I could do in the fuel run.
The Renault the best with a 400pp was 2nd place.

Also I tried to recreate the BTCC Nescafé Blend 37 Williams Renault Renault Laguna, with other peoples decals and my limited skills :)

And that's enough to get the event done! I wouldn't spend a second thought on this.

But the discussion here reminded me of something. I really think it would be great if PD would improve on AT in the next game. Currently it's very basic. A bit more realism, like shifting up depending on throttle position and a kickdown would definitely be nice.
AT in racing games is just manual where the game changes gears for you at the redline.
Having automatic act like an actual automatic, eg taking a corner at 25% throttle in the lowest gear so you get a good launch out, then all of a sudden, bam it upshifts 2 gears because less throttle input, then you floor it BAH BAHHHH as it down shifts.
That will actually make AT worse and this is also not taking the logic behind every autobox in the world as some have very delayed shifts, some suck and constantly gear hunt.
They should bring in that function from GT4 where you could "Hold" the gears in which allowed you to red line it or even go down below 4000rpm.

AT can never be made to short shift for fuel savings or shift after the torque falls off.

it took a few attempts but I got gold on the milage trial. theres nothing really special to it besides being patient. fuel map 6, revs between 1500-2500, speed between 10-30mph unless coasting, minimize throttle to keep from building boost, always 5th gear drop down to 4th or 3rd when losing speed on uphill sections.

I forgot about fuel map my first attempt, and kept getting "trapped" in the longer uphill area from Kesselchen. My issue was thinking I needed to carry more speed. Of course the answer is minimal speed, I'm sure you can get even further if you can be patient and really crawl slowly. Once I got through the Karussell I got heavier on the throttle to get it over with.

The Kesselchen area will screw up most as its just up hill

More ?

Ok, far from being decent but a joyride for sure !

I also tried a handful of cars including the new Camaro Race mod at Bathurst with wins between 15.30 and 15.45 ... but there was one I didn't even expect to be able to run a no stop : The Suzuki swapped X-Bow. RH. FM5. A nice surprise and a cool drive !

Damn, that crossbow is a really good weapon😄

‘One Porsche for All’ was the plan, but not fully successful…
All completed on hard, with varying ease.
Sunday Cup 400: 901 Carrera RS, almost stock, 398PP, CM tyres, 141hp, 1024kg, NOS. Just could not get near the lead, without hitting the NOS button! 3rd without NOS, 1st with.
Historic Sportscar Masters: 901 Carrera RS, ‘Sports’ build, 569PP, SS tyres, 240hp, 1124kg. Great fun, as ever, round the ring. Took lead at Karussel, the win was never in doubt.
Porsche Cup: 901 Carrera RS, ‘Race’ Build, 640PP, RM tyres, Fun race, but uneventful.
WTC 700: 992 RSR - RH tyres, detuned to 445hp. I tried so many times with my 901 in race trim, but it's beyond my ability. High fuel burn meant I had to run FM5 to make a 1 stop possible, but I just didn’t have the pace to get to the front. Finally I conceded defeat and opted for a descendant to get the win.
Jimny Mileage Challenge: “ Just not my cup of tea” as we Brits would say. Managed over 10,000m at first attempt, that was enough, thank you.

Odd that many are not getting gold on their first attempt
I found it some what easy.
IMO, hyper fuel saving is an alien discipline to many GT drivers. This one is much harder because the gold zone is beyond a completely uphill section. Also, the lap is... long.

After ~2 hours stuck at silver with the fuel saving challenge, I wanted to eat my controller. The challenge completely inverts how I approach the game. I was fine through the first half of the lap coasting. But then at ~6 miles, everything was a crawl uphill. That I had to constantly burn fuel no matter what made me very, very... angry.

Now I know what I must do - keep the revs ultra low and accept single digit speeds in mph and be at ~5% throttle. Surviving the uphill section was the challenge that the devs intended. I get it. But I had less than zero fun, and so, the devs can go bite me.

Note, I've golded everything the game has thrown at me, including most of the Online Time Trials and the other fuel saving challenges. Earlier this week I even redid the final super license at Spa in the wet with the 917k. I beat the gold time by nearly 4 seconds.

I've known intellectually why people walk away from challenges in GT, but now I understand on an emotional level why drivers take the bronze and move on.

The fuel saving challenge sucks mainly because that's nowhere near how it's done in real life. Quick acceleration with moderate engine load, low revs in a high gear, and keep the momentum by accelerating slightly before uphills to still have speed at the top to stay in that high gear is what gives results. Not crawling around at jogging speeds which in reality would give a lower mileage as the engine is still under some load and the speed is so low that even idling causes considerable consumption over the time it takes to actually get somewhere, and any load only increases it from there.

Oh, My. God. Damnit.

I was doing exactly this intuitively.

Wow, I now have an extra layer of hate for this challenge.
