Woah. Is that solid in there? It looks like someone sprayed insulation foam into your engine. That, or it's some kind of space creature living in your engine. Seriously, though, I'd take it to my mechanic...

That's really weird lookin! The only thing I could guess is coolant mixed with your oil... or maybe it really is a space creature!

What is the stuff like? If it's like gooey tan foam, it means that you've got coolant in the oil like retsmah said. Drain the coolant and see if it looks like chocolate milk. That means it's contaminated with oil, too.

If that's the case, the head gasket has probably failed.

It almost looks like the antifreeze got burned in with the oil and made a solid. You might have a serious problem there. It could be a cracked block, or maybe just a smaller problem as a leaking headgasket, which requires replacement.

looks to me you have some serious problem of your coolant mixing with the oil, your head or block (or gaskets) could be stuffed and the coolant galleries are mixing in the oil galleries and the engine whips it all up into a foam looking stuff (seen it happen but not this bad).
whats your coolant like??

That's quite normal on a car that drives in cold places. Just wipe the "slime" off regularly. Mabye you should get it checked out though. The clog is created in the crankshaft ventilation system (don't know the correct term) and a serious cleaning could be in it's place.

You could have just quoted me, you know. :D Atleast it would have been easier.

Interesting... so what is that stuff? Why does it happen in cold weather?

probably the oil just turned to jelly? You know, how cold milk grows warm and develops that film? Maybe the same thing here...

but yea, -30 sucks for the engine. Ours sometimes takes 3 or 4 tries to get fired up in the cold
