I've said it many times on these forums:

GT5 is hands-down the best multiplayer platform for console racers.

You can complain about the lack of a "quick race' or matchmaking option online, sure, but for those who want to get together with a group of friends or league every weekend, GT5 gives you a PC race sim-like experience.

Just look at how limited even AAA titles like Need for Speed or F1 2011 are in the online features compared to GT5. Not. Even. Close.

I would like to add that it has been an absolute pleasure to create a room like i did today and to be greeted with like minded clean fair racers who know how to race and not use one as a barrier to negotiate a corner, today has been one of the finest moments for me as regards to playing online and its down to the fantastic communities that are out there.

Hi all, I'm a 40 year gamer also and have recently joined gtplanet. What I will say about the majority of responses in this thread is that I can relate to the old days of virtua racing on the sega saturn, and how this was the first racing game that I truly enjoyed, before GT1 came out. GT5 whilst I was slightly disappointed when I first started playing GT5, probably because I had become accustomed to NFS Hot Pursuit arcade feel, the updates and spec 2 have made this the most enjoyable racer I've played, so much so that I've been awake until the early hours either trying to progress in Aspec or trying to get a respectable time on the online seasonal time trials.

Anyway just like to say a tup, to all that make a positive contribution on gtplanet, especially those who have helped me get my car set up right to be able to drive competitively.

As a mature gamer I haven't tried any online racing, as I wanted to complete most of A Spec mode. As I'm now at level 38 I would welcome any invites from mature gamers for some clean, fun online racing.

Cheers.

Bonio71 you are very welcome to join us at MWCRC, as are any other mature clean racers out there that can make our GMT 9pm start times on fridays and saturdays. Mostly stock or RM cars on realistic tires. Please send myself and PSN:ruksak a FR. We also meet up a lot in the week just for fun. Really really nice bunch of guys, mostly over 30 from UK, Germany, Holland, Cech Rep, Ireland, US, Sweden, Italy........

Hey all,

I've been reading this thread with interest over the past few days.
I am only 21 so all of these old games being referred to earlier in the thread are going over my head a little; but yes it is clear how far we have all come since the late 1980's which of course is a very good thing...I mean could you imagine being stuck in 1980's?! Sorry I digress, back to the point...

Gran Turismo 5 is a terrific game, immense. I mean the textures of the premium cars and tracks, the weather effects and day/night cycle are fantastic. On a personal level, people bash the sounds but I have heard a lot worse, although I do agree that they need to be improved slightly.
Since version 2.0 was released, and the DLC to a degree also, have vastly improved the game for me also. Being able to save during an endurance race is awesome as being a final year student at university having enough time to sit down and do them in one. Therefore it's nice to just do an hour to chill after working.
The second thing which took it to that next level is using a wheel. Getting a DFGT has just made it 10x's more immersive.

Although saying all that, and don't get me wrong, I think it's an awesome game and simulator but there is a need for continuous improvement. I would love to see the implementation of a Forza type livery editor (that was one of my favourite features of Forza, just trying to imitate favourite liveries from real world cars) and also a re-jig of the rallying handling.

Cheers
Liamsles
