My bad TB. I was mistaken and found the original post.

Steven Wilson did a great job with XTC so I'm gonna give his Chicago II a spin.

For a remix, this is really subtle. I’m having a hard time hearing any difference between this and the original. And I’m very familiar with the original. Chicago II isn’t just my favorite Chicago album, but one of my favorite albums of all time.

(I’d make a list of my top ten albums, but it would have 50 albums in it, and it would still be short by about 50 albums.)

I haven't heard the original but have been told the sound balance is better on this one and the horns are more defined. Certainly the bass is twangy like every Wilson mix I've heard previously.

Wake Up Sunshine sounds a lot like Good Day Sunshine and I'll probably skip the Terry Kath "Memories Of Love" suite next time round but on the whole I thought it was pretty good.

Also a selection of tracks from this Solar Records box I picked up in a secondhand record store.

Donald Fagen - Teahouse On The Tracks. Well, it says Fagen on the sleeve but this final track on his second solo album Kamakiriad is also a showcase for the soloing skills of NYC-based trombonist Birch "Crimson Slide" Johnson.

The Teardrop Explodes - Poppies in the Field

(I won't ask him what that means, but I have the nagging suspicion it's to do with drugs.)

@UKMikey good stuff. 👍 XTC and Magazine both high on my list. Still remember the first time I heard "A Song from Under the Floorboards" by the latter and I was hooked.

Cold Turkey - Nobody's Fool. This Ray Davies-written number is the theme song to the second series of 1970s drama serial Budgie.

Been "cold turkey" from this thread for a few days.
I can listen to anything written by Ray.
This sounds like typical early 1970s RDD lyrics too.

I watched the Budgie rerun on Talking Pictures TV - it has dated a lot (unsurprisingly) but Adam Faith's performance and the writing of Budgie's often negative impact on everyone around him still hold up well.
