100’s of influential bands spanning across five decades (and counting) might not have existed if a UK band called “Earth” hadn’t rebranded in 1969 and in the process, unknowingly changed rock and roll music forever. Many music historians trace the definitive change of trajectory to this album, and this song in particular.

Black Sabbath’s first self titled album BLACK SABBATH, playing their iconic song……. Black Sabbath

Blasts from the past 👍
I remember seeing OMD at university!
Did they have the tape recorder with them?

Orchestral Manouevres played V96 and a power outage knocked out all their synths and equipment for twenty minutes. When they came back on stage they led off with "Electricity". Winston was, alas, nowhere to be seen but by then a large portion of the crowd had drifted off to see Space on the neighbouring stage. In those days nickels had pictures of bumble bees on them blah blah blah...

Spotify throws some wild things out there sometimes. I haven't thought of Kula Shaker in probably close to 30 years and instead of giving me the one song I know, it gave me a cover of Deep Purple's "Hush." Turned out to be good workout music, though.

The one song I know:

Kula Shaker - Tattva

To ramble further on, a mate of mine's sister was obsessed with playing their K album front to back on repeat.

I don't care if the lead singer Dodger's mum auntie was in Nanny & The Professor. There is a limit.

My sleep schedule is all messed up. I got only 4 hours of sleep the night before. Worked all day yesterday trying to finish the move. Went home and fell asleep in my chair from 1700 to 2300. Now wide awake and starting a comprehensive overview of the Doobie Brothers discography at 0400.

It should be noted that the Doobie Brothers first album might not have been especially successful commercially, but it’s still a really good album.
