Written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach, Close to You by the Carpenters reached #1 on the charts in 1970, staying there for four week. Hal Blaine on drums in lieu of Karen.
They have sold more than 90 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Though the Carpenters were criticized for their clean-cut and wholesome conservative image in the 1970s, their music has since been re-evaluated, attracting critical acclaim and continued commercial success.

Instrumental covers of very early Beatles hits, as well as a few wild cards. 1964 Reprise Album, CD from Collector's Choice Music.

Arranger Jack Nitzsche, musicians include Tommy Tedesco and Ray Pohlman on guitar, David Gates on bass, Hal Blaine on drums. I don't know who is on harmonica, but Tommy Morgan is strongly suspected. Almost certainly recorded at Gold Star Studios, Hollywood.

Cut #12, Beatlemania, has riffs from several Beatles hits...and more.
