State Cows' first album was pretty solid IMO.

Gonna try out the first two albums by The New Pornographers, 2000's Mass Romantic and 2003's Electric Version.

[EDIT] Mass Romantic has good songs but I'm not fond of John Collins's and David Carswell's production so far. Sounds a bit choked off in the midrange to me. It'd probably sound better loud.

Yeah, yeah, don't @ me.

To me, production-wise and compostionally this pair are the missing link between Bacharach & David and Abba as you can probably tell from the dates.

[EDIT] OK, I guess there's a lot of Pet Sounds in there too.

Speaking of box sets, @UKMikey this is a GREAT Motown anthology, and if you don't already have it. Good content, good recordings: The Complete Motown Anthology
Thanks but the Hitsville box covers most of it and for the remainder I'd rather get individual albums as with Stevie and Marvin Gaye.

Gonna have another listen to a selection from this Chic box which I purchased on release. Dimitri From Paris did another set of excellent remixes which added rather than subtracted from the original records.

I‘ve been listening to a lot of classic New York hip hop albums the past couple of days. Call me stuck in the past but to me hip hop really peaked in the 90‘s. There are still rappers from today I like but nothing comes close to that era.

Strange to think that this single's four-year stay in the seventies Billboard top 100 charts surely played a large part in financing the startup of their breakaway band Chic.

I don’t mind the Carpenters. Brings back childhood memories. Like non of the songs I listen to don’t do that.

About to head out with my wife to meet up and have lunch and see a movie(28 Years Later) with our second oldest Son. Roy Ayers about to bless us with some travelling music. ;)

I was born in 1966 and didn't grow up with this band. Having no particular attachment to the albums up to Rubber Soul or the original sound of those songs I've no problem with going the compilation route. Giles Martin did a great job with Revolver and Pepper's so I'm sure these'll be okay.

I'm only listening up to "Girl" since I already have Revolver as mentioned above.

As I recently had to replace the headband on my headphones, I figured I may as well see what other modifications the headphones community recommends. Surprisingly for my cans (Hifiman HE400i) there aren't many suggestions aside from removing the thin foam filter from inside the grill (which results in a great view of the planar magnetic drivers) and swapping out the grills for something with better air flow/less restriction, as some people suggest that reduces a weird peak these cans have around the 4-8khz range.

Vanity shot of one of the drivers.

Anyway, for music while testing and adjusting EQ and testing and adjusting EQ and testing and adjusting EQ and...

I've been listening to the following tracks

City and Colour - Two Coins

Sturgill Simpson - Ronin

Sia - Alive (Sia reaches high up in her range in this song, great for testing clarity up high)

A Berlin - Losing It All

I feel like this guy is about to blow up. Interesting mix of Metal and Hip Hop.

Enjoy.
