More Canterbury Scene prog. This might be a bit too quirky for me.

[EDIT] Nah, it's all right so far. Very melodic.

Caravan bassist John G. Perry formed a band with Rupert Hine called Quantum Jump. They released two pop-funk albums in the mid-seventies before splitting.

One of Louis Cole's other projects is Clown Core. Quite a bit different to the more Jazz influenced Knower. Although, you can still hear quite a bit of Jazz influence. It's not for everyone, but stick around till at least the 1:05 mark for a bit of an unexpected turn.

I'll admit not my usual taste in music, but I do really like their videos, and they're so talented! The first time I realised it was Louis Cole and Sam Gendel, was after listening to 'Mean It' (Louis Cole).

I love it, but then again after producing music for over 20 years, or so, my music taste is a bit all-over-the-place, you could say. I listen to everything from classical to death metal and everything in between (besides Ska (for the most part), a lot of pop... and quite a bit of American country music leaves me cold to say the least).

Here's another example of Sam Gendel's work. In this case he is working along side Maggie Rogers and Sam Wilkes.

Great recommendation. I'm giving his previous album Spirit Dance a listen right now. It's like "what if John Coltrane were a violinist" with added tabla. Far out man, gonna break out my dashiki and kufi hat for these LPs and 1973 follow-up The Land Of Spirit And Light.

[EDIT] Pneuma side one is a bit of a challenge lol but these have to be the first albums on Impulse! that I've actually liked.

I went down a rabbit hole of Paul Shaffer clips from “Late Night with David Letterman”. Has there ever been anyone who loves playing piano as much as Paul Shaffer? Anyway, I came across this performance of “MacArthur Park” featuring the song’s legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb, about a dozen extra strings and horns, and sung by Paul’s long time bassist, Will Lee. This is one of the most melodramatic songs ever to hit number one, but I honestly love it for that.

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (50th Anniversary edition)

As far as I can tell, this is a 2025 Remaster on Blu-ray of the original album, plus the entire album concert from 1975 (also remastered) which previously featured in the 'Archive' boxset in 1995.

The original album sounds great, but is not hugely different to the previous version. The live album is absolutely fantastic, albeit Peter Gabriel's vocals were apparently largely rerecorded in '95, which is very noticable, even to someone who hasn't heard the live album before (like me). The end result, however, is still super-impressive - it shows just how great a live act Genesis were in their prime just before PG left. It's a pity, however, that PG's original vocals are mostly gone, as he has always been an incredible vocalist - however, 'The Lamb...' tour was plagued by technical issues and the original recordings apparently didn't do justice to the vocals and some of the guitar work, hence the overdubs.

I once saw a documentary where Phil Collins explained that the live show was so complex (with slides, film and lighting synced to the live music) that it never worked perfectly, and also the tour was never filmed so there is no high quality footage of the tour, which is a great shame - all the more reason, however, to enjoy these recordings.
