I’m watching The Day the Earth Stood Still. In a coincidence, it and Star Trek: The Motion Picture were both directed by Robert Wise, and in the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, it’s shown that Captain Pike is a fan of The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Too bad they couldn't've worked in a Sound Of Music connection, musical episodes (like "Subspace Rhapsody") and Georg von Trapp's role as Chang in Undiscovered Country notwithstanding.

Watched more Haikyu with my friend last night. So far, my favorite characters are Kenma (reminds me of myself with his super introvertedness ) and Yachi (she's cute when she's shy).

Whisper of The Heart (1995) - Studio Ghibli

I've been revisiting my Studio Ghibli collection, and have started to make my way through the other half of the collection that I've never bothered to watch before, and I'm regretting leaving it so long before watching some of these, and 'Whisper Of The Heart' is a particularly excellent example of a Studio Ghibli film. It's a very low-key story, and an ultra-realistic depiction of everyday life - in stark contrast to the fantastical worlds and characters of other SG films; and yet, it manages to be absolutely captivating and, at times, magical.

I may not love horror, but I love supernatural. Today I finally started on season 2 of Wednesday. Steve Buscemi is outstanding as the new principal.

This is actually my favourite Ghibli film. I’m looking forward to see how the UHD versions look if and when they they get a release.

I finished Widow's Bay yesterday, and the series (now renewed for a second season) has just scratched the surface of all the dark stuff that grips the island. It will be a long wait!

Highlight of the week for me was this scene from the last episode of season 8 of The Rookie.
I was a whooperin' and a hollerin' when I saw the car... :D

The wife and I are just on the 4th season of “Fringe”.

I’ve personally found it a bit up and down in terms of entertainment. It’s enjoyable enough, but is lacking the charm of series like X-Files which it clearly is trying to imitate in some fashion.

The wife seems to have enjoyed it more than myself but again she’s found it lacking a certain charm.

Just watch the whole damn movie.
C'mon, grandad, get with the times. Narrative media is overrated. It requires an old-fashioned attention span. We're in the TikTok generation now.

(Episode 1 only so far) Yeah, it sounds stupid on paper but the verisimilitude with the time period alongside actual non-spider noir lighting and camera angles helps make for a pretty compelling watch while Nic Cage does a great Humphrey Bogart impression as the seedy, downtrodden private eye, er, with superpowers.

Spider Noir is basically a Hybrid combination of Spiderman Miles Morales and Sherlock Holmes.

I've watched a few movies recently because I was in holiday, so here's a list of movie I havent seen but were kinda cool :

Attack the Block : A UK movie about bad teenagers who face an alien attack in their block.
The Punisher : A bit short, was alright but I wouldnt have mind a tad longuer story
Lee Cronin The Momie : Very creepy but kinda entertaining movie about Momie.
Color Out of Space : Now that one was a trip. It's adapted from a Lovecraft novel and as you can imagine it's quite special. The movie art is really amazing, I enjoyed the story and Nicolas Cage is brilliant in it. If you are looking for a trippy movie, dont miss that one.

I liked Attack The Block more than I did other science fiction movies starring John Boyega.
