What car to use for the indy time trial?

Still can't get out of the 49's. :( That's over 2 SECONDS off the pace. I've DL'd a couple replays of the top 10 guys but there's no setup info available... All it shows is they're fast -- damn fast. They never need to brake or shift, just a lift into T1 and T3, and only a partial "breathe" into T2 and T4.

Interestingly, the top 7 (!) spots are all French drivers. A cabal of kids with too much time on their hands this summer? ;)

On the upside, as of this morning I'm 107th out of, what would you say, 20,000? 50,000? Anyway I'm well into the 99th %ile. And for now that's in the top 10 (#9) of the U.S. drivers. :)

I think I'll quit while I still have my sanity.

Some 30 of the top 40 are all French - I wonder what's going on with that. I can't get mine to roll through the corner like theirs. My R390 drives like a F350 with a snow plow and no chains on the front.

Could someone help me with the LSD settings for this car at indy? I cant go under de 52 secs.. :S i am trying to use my own suspension setup and my own lsd settings but they arent working.. :S
I am using:

gearbox: 340kmh
LSD: 5/10/5
Suspension:
-30 -27
10.0 13.4
6 1
6 10
3 3
Camber 2.4 2.0
Toe -0.25 -0.70

WITHOUT wings or any aero.. default ;)
Pls if someone could help me, it would be great! :)
Good rides everybody ;)

I had all the weight shifted to the rear, with 60 downforce. My gearing has me shifting into 6 around 185mph, and downshifting into the corners. I think it helps the rear end come through the corner better.

Give this setup a try,it was based on the one the yinato posted at a French GT forum.I did a 48.667 with this today

R390 road
690 hp /1200 kg
weight reduction 3 then this is critical
+138 kg added
+50 to rear
weight balance 41-49

Add gt auto wing
aero 35/61

10/-5
13.9/16.5
7/8
7/8
4/2

2.0/2.0
-.30/0.00

5/30/5

top speed 242-F 3.427
6th gear .695 upper box top speed 254

Weight reduction!!!! <smacks forehead> Of course!! Allows you to adjust weight dist'n even further.

For the diff I use 5/5/5 (completely open, helps turn-in and power-out).

Torque falls off a cliff above 6500 -- set gearing so that you're just under 7000rpm at the end of the straights in 6th. I picked up 0.3s with that change alone.

Well you obviously figured something out -- currently #2!! Congrats!

I need a good line thru T2 -- it's very hit-or-miss right now, can't seem to nail it consistently, and when I do I have no idea what I did! Any tips for us mortals? ;) Where/how do you time your turn-in?

P.P.S. Is there any way to turn OFF my ghost? It gets to be a distraction - I want to just run a bunch of laps and get in a rhythm.

Thanks man.

Turn 2 is tricky for me, too, I still don't quite understand these street tires. All the turns are still tricky, actually, but turn 4 I can hit most times.

I also wish I could turn my ghost off. Very much distracting having another driver around you at all times.

You can, just press down (or maybe it's up?) on the d-pad. Used to do it all the time by accident for the license tests.

By the way, can somepony please let me borrow their car to win this thing? I've barely managed silver and I don't have any of the cars people are recommending. I don't really feel like wasting any more money trying to tune up the random cars sitting in my garage.

Edit: Nevermind! I found an R390 sitting in the used dealership right after posting this. :D

Just golded this event with the 458 Italia (54.951), here's my random tune:

688HP 1296kg at 600pp
Stage 2 Weight Red. & Windows
GT Wing + Aero 10 Front Rear 25
Single Plate Clutch
Sports Flywheel

Susp.
-15/-5
10.9/R 10.0
5/6
5/6
3/3

Camber 1.0 1.0
Toe 0.00 0.00

Brakes
8/5

For some reason it says I don't have a gold, yet got a 54 second lap? Is this a glitch?

lildomplaya is correct, the 458 Italia will win it. And if fully upgraded, very easily (just keep your line clean and brake smooth, though I did it going wide in Turn 3 and spanking the wall in Turn 4 [first time I took it out, still got the gold]).

Something similar happened to me at first; think it's because the game doesn't automatically save your data after exiting a time trial.

I won the gold, got the million credits, and exited the event and then the game, but did not manually save data. Came back the next day and realized I'd lost all the credits (and the setup for my car -- was using the McLaren at the time). When I went back to the event, it showed I hadn't yet won a trophy, even though my online record was still there with a 53.xx! Fortunately it let me re-gold the event and get my million credits back.

Well the weight reduction/ballast tune was certainly the missing ingredient. (I can finally get oversteer! What a concept!) Immediately knocked off a second, so I'm currently #42 (4th in the U.S. -- another 0.05s and I'll be 2nd :) ).

Also found that French forum where some of the top guys are posting their setups - the #1 guy refuses lol. Looks like this last second or so will be down to the driving (damn, I'm screwed! ;) ). Trying to remember -- patience, patience thru T1 and T3, followed by aggression in T2 and T4.

Thanks for the tip on the ghost, think that will help. 👍

I'm sure we'll see 46's before this TT ends...

Can someone post their cien tune. I'm close but its not quite right

After about 30 failed attempts at gold in the Enzo I tried a highly modded TVR Cerbera Speed 12. Just took a few laps to adjust from the Enzo and I got it fairly easy. Best part is the car was a gift from someone who's B-Spec bobs I remote raced a lot.

I use Viper ACR at first, but only manage silver, then I use McLaren F1 with aero kit add weight and 690hp, got gold on the first try

I got gold time but didn't get a prize credits or gear, I was racing a gt road car. Help?

In what universe is an R390 a bona fide street car? I wish I had one in my drive-way, but that car is a race car sans livery.

GOOD GOD. I finally beat after I spent 3 million on cars...

I bought the Enzo before checking the forums, just couldn't get it around the track. Bought the F1 and finally cashed in!

I was up til about 8am Tuesday morning using my Enzo that I put the HP limiter on after doing the Ferrari Seasonal.

I wound with the following setup:

Ride Height: -10 (Front and Rear)
Spring Rate: 10.0 (Front and Rear)
Dampers: 10 (Front and Rear)(Extension and Compression)
Roll Bars: 2
Camber: 0.0 (Front and Rear)
Toe Angle-
Front: -0.20
Rear: -0.40

Brakes-
Front: 2
Rear: 8

Differential-
Initial: 20
Acceleration: 40
Braking: 30

Rear Aero: 23 (slapped a wing onto mine)

And set the Transmission Final Gear to 5.000 and set the top speed up to 242

After that, you're basically racing your ghost at that point and timing your braking right. Only time I ever went below 5th was because I blew my braking point and either slammed the wall or was able to recover the car before slamming it and just forged on and gradually was dropping the time.

But, yes, I was just almost ready to beat my head on a keyboard throwing everything I could think of tweaking the suspension endlessly til I finally got the car to turn without wanting to take the front end to the right......I was just having to deal with the rear end wanting to kick out at that point.

HAHa, I saw an R390 in the UCD and was soo excited.
Bought it and tried to enter the race - but failed.
Then realized it was the 'race car' instead of the permitted 'normal car'.

Anyway, tried the McLaren F1 as some of you suggested.
Golded easily on the 1st try.

Edit: And just as what some have posted - my game hung elsewhere and when I came back,
it showed that I don't have gold. Plus my $$$ and McLaren F1 settings were gone.

If you run the sub gold time but touched the wall or grass the time on the counter is in red and does not count.

If you can borrow someone's R 390 it is 1,000,000 cr easy

I best it easily with a McLaren F1. Buy all non-permanent upgrades (no weight reduction, no engine tuning), then raise the ballast and lower the power limiter to get 1200kg and 690hp. I did it in about 53 seconds on the first try.

It wouldn't let me join with a NSX R Prototype LM Roadcar (less than 700hp and with 1200kg) or a F1 stealth. Why?

They have to be "normal" cars. The Garage doesn't sort them. You can't use race cars, stealth cars, RM cars, or even some of the concept cars.

PM me if you need to borrow an R390 - has a good tune on it. I'll put it online for you for a prearranged time.

Joe

The NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car is allowed. Many people have used it, including several who are still in the top 200, but the R390 is ultimately a bit quicker.

Check your hp/weight/tires again, and make sure you're not trying to use the NSX Race Car.
