Hi people
I'm just starting out in gran turismo.
Can anybody tell me the best car to buy with my 20,000 credits ???
Thanks

Many people recommend either a Civic or a Miata. I agree. At that point it's just a matter of preference between the drivetrain (FF vs. FR, respectively).

Another popular method is to buy a Kart, then go into Seasonal Events and complete a few Kart challeneges, which will greatly pad your budget.

I bought Toyota AE 86 Levin but I have heard many people started with the MX5/Miata. Might be able to buy one of the Civic Type R too.

I'd recommend something from the used car dealer, rwd, go for a fairly light car and try and get as much power as possible.

You could start with the Licence tests and the Special Events to earn free cars. Some of the first few events in the A/B-specs are unrestricted. You could run anything. See the sticky on what you win for bronze, silver, and gold, if you're interested. You could easily win a 400PP and tune it to 500PP for the latest Seasonal Event, and win a ton of money.

Oh, I'd suggest trying to buy the Toyota Tundra in the OCD before it goes away. IMO it's the best truck for you and your Bob when it comes time.

I chose a Toyota MR2 Spyder '99, good car, light, MR, good handling.
The more mainstream (read: boring) options are the Civic Type R (EK) '97, and one of the Premium Miata's (Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89, and the Eunos Roadster J-Limited (NA) '91)

Buy the '97 Civic Type R from the new car dealership.
Go to seasonal events and do the A spec challenge 400 PP race (3 laps of High Speed Ring) You might not win if you are a beginner but you should still earn some good cash.
After one race, go to settings, buy a chip, racing air filter, sport soft tyres, single plate clutch, and a sport flywheel.
Then do the race a couple times.
You now have a lot of money and a level that will allow you to buy a couple of nice cars.

I'd also suggest the new Mazda Roadster + sport motormanagement -> first trophy ... but started myself with an Eagle Talon Esi... cheap/more tuning budget...

BUT apart from the the car you start with, it's good to know that every car
you win in the a-spec beginner race makes sense for another race in the series...

e.g. you buy the Miata, you can take part in Sunday Race and FR-Race ...
you win a Vitz, which you can race in the Vitz Cup and the FF Race ...
you win some Kei-Car for the K-Cup ... an so on...
you just have to get the races into the right order...

and if you play online... tune your Miata to 400PP and earn your first BIG
money on a-spec Challenge Highspeed Ring... thats at least 200.000Cr
for a 4:20min race ... (more, if you log-in daily an get your full online
bonus after 5 days (200%))

Have fun!

Henk :)

Really good idea. Going to start a new profile and try this out. do the cars get better with the better cups you earn?

I just did the licenses and won some cars. I used those.

This
because if you at least bronze all of the tests, your gonna gain a few cars that you can use for a few different events. You should also try the special events, those are a good way to make money if you don't have a car that you can use in the seasonal events

I'm surprised no one else mentioned this... RX-7 or an AWD Toyota from the '90s.

I recommend starting with the license tests to not only win cars, but turn over the UCD.

You to purchase a level 0 car, so count the RX7 out.
