I swore there was a search button.

I swore I was forgetful.

But thank you sUn for going through the trouble to show me something I could of found if I wasn't lazy. I'll keep the search button in mind the next time I ask a question.

Ok people, prepare to be taken back to the stone age...
My computer was made by 'Tiny' who were apparently later bought out by 'Time'.

OS: windows Me
Monitor: 17inch CRT
HDD: 20GB 👎

I've noticed with an LCD monitor any computer can feel new. It's so much fun to use an LCD over a gh3y CRT. 👍

A CRT Monitor takes up way to much space up. Especially if someone has a small desk.

Here's mine:

Got a 17" tft yesterday and boy what a difference.. Bought a logitech flat laptopstyle keyboard and a starck mouse too to match the looks. :) The case is not much to see, black and ugly, (pretty basic inside, athlon 1800, 512mb, 200gb, mx440) but I'm thinking about replacing it with a shuttle of som kind.

Nice setup GT, I want a desk that's flat, I hate having a desk that has all those storage areas above your head and the cd storage stuff built-in. I'm using a BenQ 15" LCD monitor, the quality of liquad crystal display compared to regular CRT is exceptional. 👍

I too wouldn't want to have a desk like that, simple and clean is the way to go.

At first I was sceptical to the monitor change since I had a pretty goot crt and my budget didn't allow a dvi lcd+new craphic card but still, on analogue the lcd is, as you say, exceptional.

Yep, I really want a 17" but the price difference on this 15" is about $120+, there not the same manufacterer though.

Samsung is very good. 👍 Nice mouse!

I like LCDs better than CRTs bacuse there is less eye strain, but I wish the colors on them would be a little more consistent/differentiated.

Samsung Sync master...whew..what clarity!!...👍

I'am planning on getting the 20'CRT from Samsung

Any particular model? I've heard very good things about their 19" 959nf. Myself I had a 957mb before and I was very satisfied with as good as everything except the fact that I got red, irritated eyes and a slight headache after long sittings with it. With the 710 tft I got now I can cream on a bright screen with high contrast and I feel nothing at all..

Skip, how do you mean when you say that the colors on a tft lacks concistency in comparison to a crt? Yes, I can admit that the lighting issue causes a tft to have different lighting at different points on the screen but besides that imo this tft I got is far better that my last syncmaster 957mb to differentiate colors. And the 957 has got very good reviews and the 710 I got now is considered as the cheapest tft in samsungs line..

And sUn, yes Samsung rocks.. I'll be their little junkie from now and on..

I'm not sure if the lighting issue you mentioned is what bothers me, but I find that, depending on the angle that the screen is at, either the light pastel colors all look the same shade of grey while the dark colors are fine, or all the dark colors look blackish while I am able to easily see the lighter colors. :odd: Also, sometimes a pure grey will seem to have a blueish or pinkish tint. Perhaps this is a problem with the ambient room lighting. My LCD is part of a laptop, but I also noticed this on a freind's desktop's Sony LCD.

I still like the LCDs better, they give me NO eyestrain, take up less space, and are more comfortable to use in a darkened room.

I have never noticed the issues with tft:s you are talking about here. All I can complain about is that there is a slight difference in lighting depending of how you watch the screen, (and when you adjust to the lighting difference you don't think about it at all) but no color distortion because of the viewing angle. Mabye it's because my Syncmaster is a top-of-the-line screen? ;) I don't know but I have never encountered any disturbances in color displaying despite I'm using an analogue AND 16.2 Million colors tft..

Odd? You tell me.
